  • There is a growing concern in reducing greenhouse gas emissions all over the world. The U.K. has set 34% target reduction of emission before 2020 and 80% before 2050 compared to 1990 recently in Post Copenhagen Report on Climate Change. In practise, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools have been introduced to construction industry in order to achieve this such as. However, there is clear a disconnection between costs and environmental impacts over the life cycle of a built asset when using these two tools. Besides, the changes in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) lead to a change in the way information is represented, in particular, information is being fed more easily and distributed more quickly to different stakeholders by the use of tool such as the Building Information Modelling (BIM), with little consideration on incorporating LCC and LCA and their maximised usage within the BIM environment. The aim of this paper is to propose the development of a model-based LCC and LCA tool in order to provide sustainable building design decisions for clients, architects and quantity surveyors, by then an optimal investment decision can be made by studying the trade-off between costs and environmental impacts. An application framework is also proposed finally as the future work that shows how the proposed model can be incorporated into the BIM environment in practise.

  • In this paper, we introduce automatic meter reading system for tap water. The system is composed of automatic meter, router using RF and CDMA network, and data server. This system will easily extend to fire detect, gas, and electric charge meter system. In addition, this system will be used to monitoring a water leak and human which live in solitude. Proposed system is installed at Gimhae-City and Gijang-gun. As a result of the automatic meter reading system for tap water, The leak of water and complain of user is decreased. But The building cost is still an obstacle to expand into entire city.

  • The times when students are university age is a time or period of great transition and individual growth from adolescence to adulthood. Students are still semidependent upon their parents both economically and psychologically. However, it is also a time for growing self-determination and responsibility, such as studying on their own, finding effective approaches for job searches, and realizing or becoming aware of their future places in society. Therefore, as with middle and high school students, it can be a very confusing time, especially with an individual's self-identity. If students are able to read pertinent subject matter books, talk with people and expand their scope of recognition, they should be able to better grasp traditional values and current society viewpoints maturity levels and confidence will be greatly enhanced. In this study, I propose introducing and implementing the necessary methods for the organization and management of university student reading clubs, focusing specifically on case studies with the whole country library and information science to aid students in this critical time in their young lives.

To do this, including references related to reading survey and the 2021 National Reading Survey questionnaire survey questions, the questionnaires that reflected characteristics of adult and student respondents constructed. Then, the survey of 960 adults and 540 students in Goyang City conducted and analyzed the results, and several useful suggestions deduced for 'Goyang City Reading Culture Promotion Plan'. First, the category of reading materials have to be expanded from the paper media to the various media. Second, the expandation of collections in libraries and the services that will help actually buy books are necessary. Third, various reading programs should develop, and the opportunities for citizens to participate in reading and club activities through online should also be increased. Fourth, the facilities and service environments for activating reading should ensure that the accessibility of everyday life. Finally, among the existing reading culture promotion projects, the 'smart libraries', 'Inter-library loan services', 'reading and cultural programs management', and 'Goyang Book Pay' projects need to be sustained and expanded. This study is significant in that it has investigated the actual reading situation of real citizens and has converged the opinions necessary for setting the direction of the effective 'Goyang City reading culture promotion plan'.

  • The current study investigates how Malaysian ESL learners' L2 (English) speaking fluency is reflected in advanced L2 reading and what difficulties they encounter in reading comprehension. Nine Malaysian students attending a Korean university participated in qualitative research using in-depth and semi-structured interviews. The data revealed that L2 was a very familiar language, and their speaking fluency in L2 reduced the anxiety of L2 reading in general. However, it did not play a significant role in reading at an advanced level. Their difficulties in reading were mainly due to a lack of vocabulary knowledge. However, insufficient background knowledge and interest also frustrated their reading tasks. These factors lowered their reading comprehension, causing inaccurate interpretations or discouraging their endeavors to find messages from the given text. Thus, these findings should be carefully addressed in reading classes for Korean L2 learners as well as international students.
