The Extraposition phenomenon in English has been analyzed mainly through two approaches: a derivational approach under the Principles & Parameters framework (P&P) and a representational approach under the early Minimalist framework (MP). The first one tries to understand the phenomenon as a result of the movement of a Big Subject first to the end of a sentence which is then followed by the insertion of an expletive 'it' to the empty Subject position. On the other hand, the second one tries to understand it by way of assuming a Big Subject originally base-generated at the end of a sentence which is followed by the insertion of an expletive 'it' to the empty Subject position. The two approaches, however, are not free from theoretical defects at all: the full derivational approach was under controversy in terms of (1) the failure of the Binding Theory and (2) its inability to suggest anything about the marginal reading issue. On the while, the representational approach has been argued (1) to violate the thematic hierarchy that should be kept in D-structure, and (2) to be also unable to suggest the slightest difference in marginal reading issue as the first one. In this paper I focus mainly on analyzing the 'It'-Extraposition phenomenon in the Optimality Theory. I will show that by way of (i) some newly developed constraints such as Subj., and AHSubj. and (ii) a constraint hierarchy of Subj.>>AHSubj., the controversies of 'It-Extraposition' such as (1) the analysis of construction and (2) the very closely related issue of 'marginal reading issue' can be explained properly.

This paper examined the role of intermediate texts in the writing process in the context of an EFL composition class. From the tradition of teacher research, this study examined how the Korean college students in different proficiency groups created intermediate texts and used them while composing their own writing. The students produced various types of intermediate texts during the compositing process, which could serve as a basis of their writing. However, the patterns of using these intermediate texts differed widely across the proficiency groups. A writing cycle for the low proficiency group, or "surface reading-few intermediate texts-writing," indicates that less proficient students tended to engage in reading in separation of writing practices and thus produced few intermediate texts through their literacy practices. On the other hand, the students in the higher proficiency groups revealed the more integrated pattern (i.e., purpose reading/intermediate texts/writing), indicating that they often engaged in reading with specific writing purposes, practiced reading in connection to other writing practices, and elaborated written intermediate texts produced. This study argues that, to shift our student writers to a higher level category, we as teachers need to help them engage in reading and writing practices in the way they produce and use intermediate texts appropriate to their specific writing purposes.

본 연구에서는 7대도시 지역(서울, 부산, 대구, 인천, 대전, 광주, 울산)의 62개 공공도서관에서 '독서의 달' 프로그램으로 제공된 622개의 이벤트성 프로그램을 대상으로 그것의 주제를 내용 분석하였다. 그 결과 본 연구에서는 공공도서관은 '독서의 달' 프로그램의 주요 주제로 독서와 문화에 초점을 맞추고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

This study examined the effects of previewing and providing background knowledge on low level EFL readers' comprehension of expository texts and their responses to these treatments. 130 college freshmen were randomly placed into one of three treatment groups and read two expository texts reflecting unfamiliar cultural information. Prior to reading, one group was given previewing instruction, which included vocabulary preteaching and summaries, and a second group was provided with culture-specific background knowledge through watching videos and slides. The third group read each text without any prereading instruction. Immediately after reading a passage, subjects answered a 10-item multiple-choice test. Results showed significant positive effects of the previewing treatment and weak positive effects of the providing background knowledge treatment. Students' responses on the questionnaires revealed that the majority felt that the experimental treatments contributed to comprehension enhancement, made reading more enjoyable, and expedited their reading process. Students in the control group, however, indicated that they needed explicit prereading instruction in order to understand the texts. Pedagogical implications of the findings for EFL reading instruction are provided.

본 연구는 현재 공공도서관에서 수행되고 있는 독서교실 운영 실태를 조사 분석하여 독서교실 프로그램 운영을 보다 과학적이고 체계적으로 운영하기 위한 매뉴얼을 개발하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 독서교실 프로그램 운영 매뉴얼 개발의 기본 방향은 현행 학교 및 사교육시장에서 수행되어져 오는 독서교육과는 차별화된 독서의 본질에 충실한 독서활동을 통한 바람직한 독서문화가 자리 잡을 수 있도록 하는데 지향점을 두었다. 또한 독서교실 프로그램을 이용자의 요구와 인적 물적 등 도서관 상황에 맞게 선택할 수 있도록 다양한 운영 모형 (집중형, 단기형, 중기형, 장기형, 선택형)을 제시하였으며. 운영에 필요한 단계별 세부 업무 매뉴얼을 개발하였다.

본 연구는 2021년도 경기도 유아 책꾸러미 정기배송 사업의 성과를 도출하고, 사업의 문제점을 분석하여 개선방안을 제시하여 경기도 독서문화진흥 정책 마련에 도움을 주고자 함에 그 목적이 있다. 이 사업의 성과 분석 및 개선방안 제시를 위해 양육자와 독서코칭사를 대상으로 만족도 조사를 실시하였으며, 전문가 의견수렴과 사업주관자 및 수행사업자를 대상으로 자체 사업 평가를 실시하였다. 만족도 조사 결과 사업의 필요성 및 만족도는 양육자 및 독서코칭사 모두 매우 높게 나타났으며 특히 양육자의 경우 사업 후 독서량이 많이 증가할수록 본 사업의 필요성과 만족도가 더 높은 것으로 나타났고 사업이 중단될 경우에도 지속적으로 책꾸러미 정기배송과 같은 프로그램에 참여하고 싶어하는 것으로 나타났다. 전문가 의견 수렴에서도 양육자의 독서육아에 대한 긍정적인 인식 변화가 있으며, 유아-부모 상호작용 발달로 이 사업의 필요성과 만족도가 매우 높다는 평가를 하였다. 다만 사업주관 및 수행기관의 자체 평가에서는 사전에 철저한 계획적인 준비를 통해 사업이 진행되어야 더 좋은 성과를 낼 수 있을 것으로 평가하였다. 이를 통해 경기도 유아 책꾸러미 정기배송 사업의 지속성을 위해 그 개선방안을 제시하고 경기도 독서문화진흥 정책을 제안하였다.

본 연구의 목적은 2015 개정 교육과정으로 개발된 고등학교 교과서의 읽기자료 특성을 조사하여 향후 독서교육 발전 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국어, 수학, 영어, 통합과학, 통합사회 주요 교과를 대상으로 고등학교 교과서의 읽기자료를 분석하였고, 읽기자료의 분석 기준은 주제 유형, 목적, 학생 활동이었다. 연구 결과, 고등학교 통합사회와 통합과학 교과서에는 인간, 자유, 문화, 환경, 지구 등 다양한 주제의 읽기자료가 각 단원의 개념과 연관되어 제시되고 있었다. 특히 국어교과는 한단원에만 '한 학기에 한권의 책 읽기'라는 단원이 신설되어 있었다. 그러나 대부분 읽기자료가 효과적인 독서 전략이나 독서 방향에 대한 안내가 없으며, 읽기자료의 양이 부족하고 확장적 독서를 위한 자료나 정보가 부족함을 알 수 있었다. 교과서의 읽기자료가 각 단원의 학습 내용을 단순하게 보충하거나 개념 이해를 위한 단편적인 단서로만 제시되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 교과의 읽기자료 제시가 나열식으로 단순하게 전개되어 있으며, 읽기자료가 학생들의 독서 흥미, 독서의 내면화 그리고 독서 확장을 위한 도구로는 미흡함을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문은 고등학교 교과서의 확장을 위한 읽기자료의 보조 자료를 제안하고, 교과서 구성 측면과 수업 방법 측면에 대한 제안을 통해 교과서와 독서교육의 발전적 관계를 모색해보았다.

This study examines the spatial compositions of children's reading rooms, furniture characteristics, and users' satisfaction levels for the furniture in public libraries. Field measurements and surveys were performed in 5 public libraries. Results imply that the spatial compositions of reading rooms in libraries were classified into three categories according to the locations of bookshelves and reading space. Management areas should not be located at the edge of reading rooms but be located at the center of reading rooms to avoid clerks' narrow viewing angle toward young kids and to ensure security for the kids. The evaluation for bookshelves according to evaluation checklists was acceptable, but users were not always satisfied with the bookshelves due to the inappropriate positions of books in shelves. The evaluation for desks was generally acceptable according to the checklists and users were satisfied with them. In general, the desk with higher scores by the checklist provided better satisfaction to users. However, the score by checklist for chair and user satisfaction were not always similar each other. Convenience areas in reading rooms were not enough compared to bookshelf, reading and management area. Computer tables that were designed in a way that users sit down and use the computers were highly preferred.

본 연구는 문헌연구와 국가도서관통계시스템 데이터를 중심으로 공공도서관에서 진행되는 독서프로그램의 현황을 분석하여 시사점을 도출하고 이를 기반으로 향후 공공도서관의 독서프로그램 활성화를 위해 필요한 정책 방향 등을 제안하고자 하였다. 분석을 통해 도출된 시사점을 바탕으로 첫째, 공공도서관 독서 활동 데이터 확보와 공유 방안을 제안하였다. 둘째, 지속가능한 독서프로그램 추진을 위한 방안 제안을 위해 독서프로그램 기획과 운영에 관련있는 요소의 상관관계 분석결과를 제시하였다. 셋째, 독서프로그램 평가지표 개선 및 질적 평가의 확산을 언급하고 문화체육관광부, 한국도서관협회 등에 상시적으로 공공도서관 현장의 의견을 수렴할 수 있는 공식 창구 마련 등을 제안하였다. 넷째, 독서대전 개최지역 공공도서관들 간 협의체 구성 운영을 제안하였다.

최근 디지털의 발달로 아동들은 미디어 매체에 많이 접하고 있다. 독서 활동이 줄어 책에서의 정보를 습득하거나 습득한 정보를 정리하고 기억하는 것에 어려움을 겪는다. 증강현실이 접목된 교육이 학습에 대한 아동의 참여도와 몰입도를 높이므로, 우리는 아동의 독서 흥미도와 창의성을 높이기 위해 증강현실 기술이 도입된 독후활동 애플리케이션을 제안하였다. 또한, 5가지의 누리과정을 기반으로 애플리케이션에 들어갈 놀이 중심의 독후활동을 설계하였다. 애플리케이션 제안에서 그치지 않고 실제 수업에 사용할 수 있도록 놀이 중심의 수업 모형을 설계하였다. 수업 모형 설계에 따른 개념적인 사고의 틀을 분석하기 위해 실제 어린이집을 방문하고 전문가가 참관한 수업을 진행하였다. 참관한 전문가들에게 독후활동 수업 모델 및 운영의 적합성 검토를 위해 미리 제작한 설문지를 작성하게 하여 타당성을 검토하였다. 우리의 수업 모형 설계는 한정된 도서의 콘텐츠를 대상으로 하였으며, 윤리상의 문제로 아동 대상으로 대규모 실험을 진행하지 못하여 연구의 결과가 전체를 대표할 수 없다. 하지만 누리과정을 기반으로 한 새로운 독후활동 수업 운영의 가능성을 검토하고 제시하였다는 데에 의의가 있다.
