  • The aim of this paper is to explore the promotion of reading books at the public school. The promotion of reading books at the school is more important and useful for students than the Educational Information Project, which is setting computers and the Internet at the public school. Because watching TV and navigating the internet without reading books is not good for students to exercise creativity and sound personality. To promote reading books at the school, at first schools need to hire librarian-teachers, and build collection at school libraries as explained. And then schools need to conduct campaigns for promoting reading books, such as reading boots for students, reading books for 10 minutes every morning, and book flood program. In addition, the lesson on reading instruction will be helpful.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics and problems of 'Reading Cheongju' which launched as 'One Book, One City' reading promotion campaign in 2006 and conducted 23 times for the past 15 years. The analysis of the selection criteria of 'one book', 31 selected books, and the activity of reading and discussion shows the strength of continuity and stability of 'Reading Cheongju'. However, the following weaknesses need to be improved on: the inadequate change in book selection criteria, selection of several books according to age groups instead of 'One Book', lack of consistency in themes of selected books, preference for best-sellers and popular works, difficulty in identifying the continuance of individual participation in reading and discussion, librarians' role limited to organizing programs, and lacking in direct participation in discussion and communication, and events and programs only led by Cheongju City Library without any cooperation from community members.

  • Recently, electronic-book (e-book) market is growing rapidly due to the evolution of information technology and e-book standard EPUB. Users can search e-book on-line and download easily to their e-book readers such as amazon's kindle or smartphones. On the other hand, there is lack of e-book contents for the reading disabled people because of high cost of making e-book accessibility for the reading disabled people. If we can translate EPUB specified e-book contents to the alternative e-book contents suitable for the reading disabled people, then there are many advantages to acquire various types and large volumes of e-book contents for the reading disabled people. This paper suggests a new electronic publishing ecosystem for the reading disabled people using e-book translation method. It also suggests a promotion strategy of e-book market for the reading disabled people.
