  • This paper describes the design for radiation pattern directivity of vehicle license plate RFID tag antenna to improve the readable range. Directivity pattern of the proposed passive antenna is decided by the meander line position and the bumper size attached to the tag antenna. In order to prove the verification of the calculated directivity pattern and readable range of the proposed antenna, the tag antenna has been fabricated and measured at the anechoic chamber. It is shown that the maximum directivity gain of the measured radiation pattern of active and passive tag antenna were observed 2.32 dBi and 3.1 dBi, respectively. The maximum readable range of passive tag antenna was measured about 8.5 m at ${\pm}45^{\circ}$ beam direction on the basis of the driving car direction($0^{\circ}$ of azimuth angle).

  • This paper describes a design for RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag antenna using license plate attached the vehicle bumper in 900 MHz band. The proposed tag antenna size which is located on upper center position of a vehicle license plate is 162.5${\times}$40${\times}$1 mm$^3$. A resonant frequency of design antenna and the bandwidth which has return loss of -10 dB below are 900 MHz and about 720 MHz(640${\sim}$1,360 MHz), respectively. The commercial chip impedance considered on design was 16- j131 ${\Omega}$ and the complex conjugate impedance of chip was used as input impedance of tag antenna. The measured return loss and radiation pattern were agreed well with the calculated results. The measured readable range of the proposed tag antenna designed on only the vehicle license plate was 11.5 m. Moreover, its range of the fabricated tag antenna that the license plate and the vehicle bumper were fixed by volt and nut was observed 10.4 m. These measured readable range showed about 5 m above far distance more than the average readable range of commercial tag antenna.

  • In this paper, we compared and analyzed the antenna characteristics such as bandwidth, efficiency, and readable range in terms of the size and the number of turns of the multiple meander RFID tag antenna in the UHF band. The sizes of the each antenna are $20.0{\times}19.7$, $25.0{\times}24.8$ and $30.0{\times}29.7\;mm^2$. The bandwidths of the antennas for VSWR<5.8 are 857~963 MHz, 844~965 MHz, and 844~968 MHz which cover the worldwide UHF RFID bandwidth. The readable range of the antenna was greatly affected by the efficiency and gain of the antenna which depends on the size and the number of turns of the meander antenna.

  • This paper presents a design of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification} tag antenna which has high sensitivity for car side mirror. A proposed tag antenna ($154\;mm{\times}66\;mm{\times}1;mm$) resonants at 900 MHz and has a wide bandwidth of 690 MHz($490\;MHz{\sim}1180\;MHz$). The measured gain and readable range of tag antenna are 5.8 dBd and 10 m, respectively. Radiation pattern and readable range of proposed tag antenna located on inside of a side mirror including a car body are measured at anechoic chamber. It has been confirmed that the readable range in the vicinity of $90^{\circ}$ has been expanded about 1.5 m by comparison with one of proposed tag antenna without of car body. Good performance of the proposed tag antenna was observed and proved by comparison of measured results of commercial tag antenna.

  • This paper reviews various bitstream syntax and parser description (BSPD) languages used in MPEG multimedia standards. Traditionally, the bitstream syntax and semantics have been described in human-readable form. Several languages have been developed to describe the bitstream syntax using a computer-readable language and allow the automatic generation of bitstream parsing function from the description. The languages were designed for different objectives and applications but have a range of commonalities in functionality. The aim of this paper is to provide a historical overview of BSPD languages. The background and target application of the BSPD languages are reviewed. In addition, the technical features of each languages, including the linguistic basis (e.g., XML-based) and parser generation method, are discussed and evaluated. In addition, previous studies based on each language are introduced and categorized according to their objectives. Finally, the relevant technical issues that suggest the direction of the future researches are reported.

  • In this paper we proposed the tag antenna with a low performance distortion from an attached surface material using the asymmetric dual-arm dipole antenna(ADDA) structure. The tag is designed to exhibit low performance changes when the tag is attached on a target object(the medical litter receptacle, ${\varepsilon}_r=1.7,\;tan\;{\delta}=0.002$). Detail design parameters for the proposed antenna are optimized to maintain a good readable range in free-space as well as on a target object. The size of the optimized antenna is $100\;mm{\times}50\;mm$. The antenna shows the matching bandwidth($S_{11}$< -10 dB) of 3.7 % and the radiation efficiency of 80 % at the operating frequency. Finally we confirmed the readable range of the tag antenna by measurement and it shows about 5.3 m in free space and 5.5 m on the target object.

  • This paper presents a design of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag antenna which is available for a vehicle's side mirror and directivity characteristics by mr body. The proposed Tag antenna is designed symmetrical structure to improve the broad bandwidth characteristic and the readable range. A proposed tag antenna($30\;mm{\times}24\;mm{\times}1\;mm$) has resonant frequency at 910 MHz and bandwidth is 780 MHz ($540\;MHz{\sim}1320\;MHz$). The chip impedance is the 16 - $j131\;{\Omega}$ and the complex conjugate impedance of commercial chip has been used for tag antenna design. In order to evaluate effects of tag antenna for side view mirror's permittivity as well as car body(conductor), radiation pattern characteristics and readable range have been calculated and measured. The optimized position for a vehicle's RFID system has been observed in the inside of a side mirror and the calculated results show good agreement with the measured results.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel antenna structure which uses the electric and magnetic currents so as to eliminate nulls on their radiation pattern. The tag antenna was matched to the conjugate impedance of the commercial tag chip using the modified double T matching network. The radiation efficiency is about $90\%$, and the bandwidth($S_{11}< -10 dB$) is 848${\~}$926 MHz. Also it shows the gain deviation between the maximum and minimum gains about 4 dB at any direction of the tag antenna at the operating frequency. The readable range of the tag is 1.7${\~}$2.4 m for an arbitrary rotation angle of the tag with a commercial tag chip.

  • Nanoplasmonics is a developing field that offers attractive optical, electrical, and thermal properties for a wide range of potential applications. Based on the compelling characteristics of this field, researchers have shed light on the possibilities of integrated photonics and biosensing platforms using nanoplasmonic principles. Single and unique nanostructures with plasmons can act as individual transducers that convert desired information into measurable and readable signals. In this review, we will discuss nanoplasmonic sensors, especially those in relation to photodetectors for future optical interconnects, and bioinformation sensing platforms based on nanoplasmonics, thus providing a viable approach by which to create sensors corresponding to target applications. In addition, we also discuss scalable fabrication processes for the creation of unconventional nanoplasmonic devices, which will enable next-generation plasmonic devices for wearable, flexible, and biocompatible systems.

  • This paper proposes an efficient localization algorithm in the RFID sensor space for the precise localization of a mobile robot. The RFID sensor space consists of embedded sensors and a mobile robot. The embedded sensors, that is tags are holding the absolute position data and provide them to the robot which carries a reader and requests the absolute position fur localization. The reader, it is called as antenna usually, gets several tag data at the same time within its readable range. It takes time to read all the tags and to process the data to estimate the position, which is a major factor to deteriorate the localization accuracy. In this paper, an efficient algorithm to estimate the position and orientation of the mobile robot as quickly as possible has been proposed. Along with the algorithm, a new allocation of the tags in the RFID sensor space is also proposed to improve the localization accuracy. The proposed algorithms are demonstrated and verified through the real experiments.
