구글 Read Along 앱 활용이 초등영어학습자의 발음과 정의적 영역에 미치는 효과 (A Study on the Effects of Read Along by Google with Primary ELLs' Pronunciation and Affective Domains)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 구글에서 개발한 어린이용 언어학습 애플리케이션인 Read Along 활용이 초등영어학습자들의 발음과 정의적 영역에 미치는 영향에 관해 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 6학년 영어학습자 24명이 4주 간의 실험 수업에 참여하였으며 주요 활동으로는 Read Along을 통한 읽기·말하기 학습이 진행되었다. 연구도구로는 사전-사후 영어발음 평가지와 정의적 영역 설문지가 활용되었으며 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 우선, Read Along 앱 기반 활동은 초등영어학습자들의 발음 유창성 및 정확성 향상에 있어 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 실제 두 영역 모두 사전 대비 사후 평균값은 근소하게나마 향상되었으며 대응 표본 t-검정 결과에서도 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, Read Along 앱을 이용한 읽기 및 말하기 활동이 초등영어학습자들의 정의적 영역에 미치는 변화를 설문을 통해 살펴본 결과, 학습자들의 흥미도와 자신감 측면에 있어 긍정적인 변화를 보였다. 두 영역 모두, 사전 대비 사후의 평균이 각각 0.4점, 0.5점이 상승한 것으로 나타났으며 t-검정 결과 역시 유의미한 향상이 있는 것으로 드러났다. 다만 학습 태도면에 있어서는 사후에 소폭의 상승을 보이기는 하였으나 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 드러내지는 않았다.

  • Recently, along wtih the advance of high-performance system, synchronous DRAM's (SDRAM's) which provide consecutive data output synchronized with an external clock signal, have been reported. However, in the conventional SDRAM's which utilize a multi-stage serial pipelined scheme, the column path is divided into multi-stages depending on CAS latency N. Thus, as the operating speed and CAS latency increase, new stages must be added, thereby causing a large area penalty due to additinal latches and I/O lines. In the proposed register-based parallel pipelined scheme, (N-1) registers are located between the read data bus line pair and the data output buffer and the coming data are sequentially stored. Since the column data path is not divided and the read data is directly transmitted to the registers, the busrt read operation can easily be achieved at higher frequencies without a large area penalty and degradation of internal timing margin. Simulation results for 0.32um-Tech. 4-Bank 64M SDRAM show good operation at 200MHz and an area increment is less than 0.1% when CAS latency N is increased from 3 to 4.. This pipelined scheme is more advantageous as the operating frequency increases.

  • 트랙을 겹쳐서 쓰는 자기기록 방식은 인접한 트랙간 간섭이 심하게 발생한다. 또한 리드헤드가 트랙을 따라 돌면서 데이터를 읽을 때, 물리적인 영향으로 헤드가 틀어질 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위해 두 개의 헤드를 사용하는 이차원 이퀄라이저를 제안하였다. 헤드가 틀어진 경우 두 헤드의 위치를 현재 트랙의 중앙에 위치시킴으로 성능을 보완할 수 있다.

  • It has been integrated into several navigation systems. This paper shows that system recognizes difficult indoor roads without any specific marks such as painted guide line or tape. In this method the robot navigates with visual sensors, which uses visual information to navigate itself along the read. The Neural Network System was used to learn driving pattern and decide where to move. In this paper, I will present a vision-based process for AMR(Autonomous Mobile Robot) that is able to navigate on the indoor read with simple computation. We used a single USB-type web camera to construct smaller and cheaper navigation system instead of expensive CCD camera.

Robust Inference for Testing Order-Restricted Inference

  • Classification of subjects with unknown distribution in small sample size setup may involve order-restricted constraints in multivariate parameter setups. Those problems makes optimality of conventional likelihood ratio based statistical inferences not feasible. Fortunately, Roy (1953) introduced union-intersection principle(UIP) which provides an alternative avenue. Redescending M-estimator along with that principle yields a considerably appropriate robust testing procedure. Furthermore, conditionally distribution-free test based upon exact permutation theory is used to generate p-values, even in small sample. Applications of this method are illustrated in simulated data and read data example (Lobenhofer et al., 2002)

Locus equation -as a phonetic descriptor for place articulation in Arabic.

  • Previous studies of American English(e.g. Sussman 1991, 1993, 1994) CVC coarticulation with initial consonants representing the labial, alveolar, and velar showed a linear relationship that fits to data points formed by plotting onsets of F2 transition along the y-axis and their corresponding midvowel points along the x-axis. The present study extends the locus equation metric to include the following places of articulation:uvular, pharyngeal, laryngeal, and emphatics. The question of interest is to determine if locus equation could serve as phonetic descriptor for the place of articulation in Arabic. Five male native speakers of Colloquial Egyptian Arabic(CEA) read a list of 204 CVC and CVCC words, containing eight different places of articulation and eight vowels. Average of formant patterns(Fl,F2,F3) onsets, midpoints, and offsets were calculated, using wide band spectrograms obtained by means of the kay spectrograph model(7029), and plotted as locus equations. A summary of the acoustic properties of the place of articulation of CEA will be presented in the frames of bVC and CVb. Strong linear regression relationships were found for every place of articulation.

수생태계 부영양화 분석을 위한 비색법 기반의 광학식 센서 신호처리회로(ROIC)구현 (Read-Out Integrated Circuit of Colorimetry-Based Optical Sensor for Eutrophication Analysis)

  • In this study, a read-out integrated circuit (ROIC) that can be applied to a colorimetry-based optical sensor for analyzing total phosphorus and total nitrogen was developed and characterized. The proposed ROIC minimizes the effect on temperature fluctuation, improves sensitivity, and extends the dynamic range by utilizing a dual optical path and feedback control circuit. Using a dual optical path makes it possible to calibrate the output signal of the optical sensor automatically, along with the temperature fluctuation. The calibrated voltage is fed back into the measurement stage; thus, the output current of the measurement is adaptively controlled. As a result, the sensitivity and dynamic range of the proposed ROIC are improved. Finally, a total-phosphorus analysis was conducted by utilizing the ROIC. The ROIC was found to operate stably over a wide temperature range.

Genome re-sequencing to identify single nucleotide polymorphism markers for muscle color traits in broiler chickens

  • Objective: Meat quality including muscle color in chickens is an important trait and continuous selective pressures for fast growth and high yield have negatively impacted this trait. This study was conducted to investigate genetic variations responsible for regulating muscle color. Methods: Whole genome re-sequencing analysis using Illumina HiSeq paired end read method was performed with pooled DNA samples isolated from two broiler chicken lines divergently selected for muscle color (high muscle color [HMC] and low muscle color [LMC]) along with their random bred control line (RAN). Sequencing read data was aligned to the chicken reference genome sequence for Red Jungle Fowl (Galgal4) using reference based genome alignment with NGen program of the Lasergene software package. The potential causal single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) showing non-synonymous changes in coding DNA sequence regions were chosen in each line. Bioinformatic analyses to interpret functions of genes retaining SNPs were performed using the ingenuity pathways analysis (IPA). Results: Millions of SNPs were identified and totally 2,884 SNPs (1,307 for HMC and 1,577 for LMC) showing >75% SNP rates could induce non-synonymous mutations in amino acid sequences. Of those, SNPs showing over 10 read depths yielded 15 more reliable SNPs including 1 for HMC and 14 for LMC. The IPA analyses suggested that meat color in chickens appeared to be associated with chromosomal DNA stability, the functions of ubiquitylation (UBC) and quality and quantity of various subtypes of collagens. Conclusion: In this study, various potential genetic markers showing amino acid changes were identified in differential meat color lines, that can be used for further animal selection strategy.

보현산천문대 2K CCD 카메라의 특성 (CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BOAO 2K CCD CAMERA)

  • We present the characteristics of the 2K CCD camera at the Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory of the Korea Astronomy Observatory at the time of its development. The purpose of this paper is to support the observers who may need detailed information on the characteristics of the camera and to provide helpful information on the optimization' of a CCD camera for those who try to develop their own camera. The 2K CCD camera was optimized to have a gain of $1.8e^-/ADU$ and a read out noise of $7e^-$ from an experiment using radioactive $^{55}Fe$ X-ray source. The charge transfer efficiency was measured as 0.9999976 for serial and 0.9999942 for parallel direction, which means $0.5\%$ charge loss along the serial direction and $1.2\%$ along the parallel direction across the chip. The quantum efficiency of the camera was measured from an experiment using a homogeneous light source consisting of a halogen lamp and an integrating sphere with a monochromator. The resulting quantum efficiency of the camera peaked at the wavelength range 600-700 nm with the value of $\~0.89$.
