In this paper, the dynamic crawling of a five-bar planar mechanism is investigated. One complete cycle of the crawling selected in this study consists of four different steps, i) sliding at one contact point between the mechanism and the ground, ii) changing its configuration without sliding at two contact points, iii) sliding at the other contact point, and iv) again changing its configuration without sliding at two contact points. In this type of crawling, the crawling mechanism maintains the shape of the parallel structure throughout a complete crawling cycle. The modeling algorithm for serial manipulators proposed by M. Thomas and et al.[1] is employed by introducing imaginary joints and links which represent the contact interfaces between the one end of the mechanism and the ground, while the other end of the mechanism is regarded as an end-effector of the imaginary serial manipulator which treats the reaction force and torque at the contact point as external forces. Then, a complete cycle of dynamic crawling of the mechanism is investigated through various computer simulations. The simulation result show that the stable crawling characteristics of the mechanism could be secured when the proper configurations depending on specified frictional constraints are met.

The purpose of this study was to analysis biomechanics of the lower extremities injury the heights(40cm, 60cm, 80cm) of jump box as performed depth jump motion by 6 females aerobic athletes and 6 non-experience females students. The event of depth jump were set to be drop, landing and jump. The depth jump motions on the force plate were filmed using a digital video cameras, and data were collected through the cinematography and force plate. On the basis of the results analyzed, the conclusions were drawn as follows: 1. The landing time of skill group was shorter than unskill group at 40cm, 60cm drop height during drop-landing-jump phase especially. The landing time of 60cm drop height was significant between two group(p<.05). 2. The peak GRF of sagittal and frontaI direction following drop height improve was variety pattern and the peak vertical force of 40cm drop height was significantly(p<.05). 3. The magnitude of peak passive force was not increase to change the drop height. 4. The peak passive forces was significant at 40cm drop height between two groups(p<.05)

It is clear that computers will play a key role in the biology of the future. Even now, it is virtually impossible to keep track of the key proteins, their names and associated gene names, physical constants(e.g. binding constants, reaction constants, etc.), and hewn physical and genetic interactions without computational assistance. In this sense, computers act as an auxiliary brain, allowing one to keep track of thousands of complex molecules and their interactions. With the advent of gene expression array technology, many experiments are simply impossible without this computer assistance. In the future, as we seek to integrate the reductionist description of life provided by genomic sequencing into complex and sophisticated models of living systems, computers will play an increasingly important role in both analyzing data and generating experimentally testable hypotheses. The future of bioinformatics is thus being driven by potent technological and scientific forces. On the technological side, new experimental technologies such as microarrays, protein arrays, high-throughput expression and three-dimensional structure determination prove rapidly increasing amounts of detailed experimental information on a genomic scale. On the computational side, faster computers, ubiquitous computing systems, high-speed networks provide a powerful but rapidly changing environment of potentially immense power. The challenges we face are enormous: How do we create stable data resources when both the science and computational technology change rapidly? How do integrate and synthesize information from many disparate subdisciplines, each with their own vocabulary and viewpoint? How do we 'liberate' the scientific literature so that it can be incorporated into electronic resources? How do we take advantage of advances in computing and networking to build the international infrastructure needed to support a complete understanding of biological systems. The seeds to the solutions of these problems exist, at least partially, today. These solutions emphasize ubiquitous high-speed computation, database interoperation, federation, and integration, and the development of research networks that capture scientific knowledge rather than just the ABCs of genomic sequence. 1 will discuss a number of these solutions, with examples from existing resources, as well as area where solutions do not currently exist with a view to defining what bioinformatics and biology will look like in the future.

Sit-to-stand movement is a basic movement in daily activities. On the basis of this movement, the biomechanical functions of a person can be evaluated. The study of the joint kinematics, moment, and muscle coordination is necessary to understand the characteristics of the sit-to-stand movement. We have developed a motion-based program for inverse dynamics analysis and the electromyogram-based program for muscle force prediction. The joint kinematics and the kinetic results estimated on the basis of obtained motion data, ground reaction force, and electromyogram signals were compared with those reported in previous studies, and the muscle forces determined by the two methods were compared with each other. The methods and programs developed in this study can be used to understand biomechanics and muscle coordination involved in basic movements in daily activities.

This paper represents the development of a CLS(Control Loading System) for a target a airplane (KT-1) with mechanical linkage reversible flight control system. The system is composed of mechanical frame, controller, sensing part to measure the force from the stick, driving system generating the reaction forces. The DS1103 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) of the dSpace Corp. was used as the controller. The control algorithm of the CLS and the operational environment including monitoring software and evaluation tools are described. The evaluation of the system was conducted according to the requirement specification. The results of the test were analyzed by comparing with the actual data of the target airplane.
These days the circular cross section cofferdam has been frequently used for the earth retaining structures or cut off wall such as ventilating opening, intake tower in cofferdam, shaft for emergency. By the arching effect, the circular cross section type cofferdam has more advantage than a polygon cofferdam in terms of the structural forces and moment. This paper shows the proper approach to analyze the circular cross section cofferdam using 2D Finite Element Method (FEM) for the circular stiffener (ring beam) evaluation. Besides, the various shapes of cofferdam indluding circular cross section have modeled the 3D Finite Element Mothod (FEM). The circular cross section cofferdam shows the minimum reaction force compared with the other shapes of cofferdam.
A deep-sea manganese nodule miner consists of 4 parts: the pickup device, crusher, disposal device, and tracked vehicle. The tracked vehicle is an essential component to keep the self-propelled miner moving across deep-sea soil. The performances of the tracked vehicle are influenced by noise factors: the shear strength of the seafloor, bottom current, seafloor slope, track speed, reaction forces of flexible hose, etc. It is necessary to adopt a robust design method that improves the performances and minimizes the variation caused by noise factors. Taguchi's method, the most widely known robust design method, searches for the robust optimum using an orthogonal array composed of the product of the inner array and outer array. In this paper, we propose a new screening technique to reduce the number of input factors and apply the MRSN (Multi-Response Signal to Noise) ratio to convert multiple performances into single one in order to overcome the difficulties and limitations of using Taguchi's method in a case with many input factors and multiple performances. A test miner was already designed and tested. It has about 1/10 the capacity of a commercial one and was successfully operated at an in-shore area. Taguchi's robust design was applied to the tracked vehicle of the test miner, and design improvements were implemented for the vehicle.
In general, the swing motions of a crane are controlled and suppressed by controlling the trolley motion. In many of our previous studies, we suggested a new type of anti-sway control system for a crane. In this proposed control system, a small auxiliary mass (moving-mass) is installed on the spreader and moving this auxiliary mass controls tire swing motion. The actuator reaction against the auxiliary mass applies inertial control forces to the container in order to reduce the swing motion in the desired manner. However, measuring systems based on a laser sensor or other means are not veryuseful in real-worldapplications. So, in this paper, animage sensor is used to measure the motions of the spreader and the measured data are fed back to the controller in real time. The applied image processing technique is a kind of robust template matching method called Vector Code Correlation (VCC), which was devised to consider real environmental conditions. The H $\infty$ based control technique is applied to suppress the swing motion of the crane. Experimental results showed that the proposed measurement and control system based on an image sensor is useful and robust to disturbances.

In this study, the vibration control performance of high-rise building structures connected by a sky-bridge has been investigated. The philosophy of vibration control using sky-bridges is to allow structures with different dynamic characteristics to exert control forces upon one another through sky-bridges to reduce the overall responses of the system. The the high-rise building structure connected by sky-bridge with 49 and 42 stories was used in this study to investigate the displacement, acceleration, reaction of bearings and stress of sky-bridge by analytical methods. To this end, historical earthquakes, an artificial earthquake and wind force time histories obtained from wind tunnel tests were used. Based on the analytial results, the use of sky-bridge can be effective in reducing the structural responses of high-rise buildings against wind and seismic loads.

In the assembling process by industrial robots, many difficulties stem from the fact that the assembly operation is impossible or the parts to be assembled can be damaged by reaction forces due to even little misalignment in part mating. In this paper a flexible and sensible robot wrist is developed to make possible the precision insertion operation. The flexibility of the developed wrist were evaluated both analytically and experimentally in actual insertion process. The results show that without the use of feedback control the wrist is capable of doing insertion operations with a small clearance at a low inserting force. For smaller clearance the assembly process was devised involving insertion force feedback and a control algorithm for this active accommodation was developed. The simulation results show that if the active feedback control is used the insertion action can be performed with much less force, as compared with a passive accommodation method.
