  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate and elucidate actual experiences of alcoholics' spouses using familial social gatherings. Methods: A total of nine women whose alcoholic husbands were attending Al-Anon meetings held in Y Cathedral in S District of Seoul were included in this study. Data collection of this study was conducted through in-depth interviews with participants from September 24 to November 30, 2015. Data analysis was conducted at the same time as the data collection, and analysis was performed according to the method suggested by Colaizzi(1978). Results: We categorized the participants' experiences into five themes including 'Trapped in a Deep Dark Tunnel', 'Life of Walking in an Endless Tunnel', 'Reaching a Dead End', 'Walking towards a Ray of Light', 'Finding Oneself on a Strange Path'. Conclusion: The results of this study provide an understanding of the essential structure of the life experiences of alcoholic spouses using familial social gatherings.

  • This paper proposed a optimal scale factors technique of a fuzzy-neural network for a load frequency control of two areas power system. The optimal scale factors control technique is optimize from an initial fuzzy logic control rule, and then is learned with an error back propagation learning algorithm of the fuzzy-neural network. In application two areas the load frequency control of the power system, it hopes to have response characteristic better than optimal control technique which is the conventional control technique and to show to minimize a frequency deviation and reaching and settling time of a tie line power flow deviation

  • This paper discussed the theoretical simulation results for developing the blumlein pulsed power source and showed the circuit configuration and the discharge characteristics of the realistic manufactured pulsed power system. In the simulation, the output voltage characteristics at a load resistor showed the general impulse shape when the impedance of a single coaxial cable is matched with the that of a load resistor. In addition, it is confirmed that output values of the pulsed power can be easily controlled by the duplication of coaxial cables and the pulsed waveform showed the general impulse characteristics. Specifically, the inception discharge voltage in the gap distance of 5[mm] between needle and plane electrodes is about 20[kV] and which is lower than about 29[kV] in 9[mm] due to the difference of the reaching time of the inception voltage. Therefore, this paper showed that the output voltage of the blumlein pulsed power source can be easily controlled.

  • This short paper suggests a control strategy using a stepwise fuzzy moving sliding surface. The moving surface is a Sugeno-type fuzzy system that has the angle of state error vector and the distance from the origin in the phase plane as inputs and a first-order linear differential equation as an output. The surface initially passes arbitrary initial states and subsequently moves towards a predetermined surface via rotating or shifting. the proposed method reduces the reaching and tracking time and improves robustness. The asymptotic stability of the fuzzy sliding surface is proved. The validity of the proposed control scheme is shown in computer simulation for a second-order nonlinear system.

  • This study aims to develop an electronic moxibustion device for the quantification of moxibustion, which progresses a critical role in traditional oriental medicine as well as to assess the characteristics of heating. The assessment revealed that the proposed electronic moxibustion treatment device can reduce the time required for reaching the desired heat level and continue to provide heat consistently. Moreover, heat transmitted to the treated area was found to correspond to a heating pattern of the proposed electronic moxibustion device. It proved both quantitative control and safe treatment for the proposed electronic moxibustion device.

  • This study applies dynamic deformation analysis to the rake face stress distribution of cemented carbide cut-off tools by turning, using a finite element method. The results are following: 1. The dynamic loaded state of a cut-off tool was very changeable for the first 0.6 seconds. Reaching the normal state, it became in active. 2. Chipping was influnced not only by the magnitude of stress but also by the abrupt change of tensile and compressive stresses. 3. The distribution chat of principal stress by dynamic load and the direction of resultant vector were almost constant regardless of load time.

  • Image stacking technique is one of the key techniques for complex surface reconstruction. The process includes sample collection, image processing, algorithm editing, surface reconstruction, and finally reaching reliable conclusions. Since this experiment is based on laser scanning confocal microscope to collect the original contour information of the sample, it is necessary to briefly introduce the relevant principle and operation method of laser scanning confocal microscope. After that, the original image is collected and processed, and the data is expanded by interpolation method. Meanwhile, several methods of surface reconstruction are listed. After comparing the advantages and disadvantages of each method, one-dimensional interpolation and volume rendering are finally used to reconstruct the 3D model. The experimental results show that the final 3d surface modeling is more consistent with the appearance information of the original samples. At the same time, the algorithm is simple and easy to understand, strong operability, and can meet the requirements of surface reconstruction of different types of samples.

  • Welcome to Gemini! In this overview, I'll describe the governance, operations, and capabilities of the Gemini telescopes. I'll also describe Gemini's vision and plans for the future. Gemini is very adaptable and has multiple ways to apply for time, multiple ways to collect your data, and multiple instrument capabilities ready for your observations. Gemini also runs a wide-reaching program to develop and improve our instrumentation capabilities. We run an upgrade program for our existing instruments that includes an annual public call for proposals, a visitor instrument program that brings instruments like IGRINS to our telescopes for short to semi-permanent runs, and a facility program that provides entirely new instruments like GHOST and SCORPIO to Gemini for full public use. Through these programs, you can interact with Gemini in a number of ways to support your scientific needs in the most efficient way possible.

  • This paper overviews different exit strategies for the U.S. from the debt-overhang, and analyses their implications for emerging markets and global stability. These strategies are discussed in the context of the debates about secular-stagnation versus debt-overhang, the fiscal theory of the price level, the size of fiscal multipliers, prospects for a multipolar currency system, and historical case studies. We conclude that the reallocation of U.S. fiscal efforts towards infrastructure investment aiming at boosting growth, followed by a gradual tax increase, aiming at reaching a modest primary fiscal surplus over time are akin to an upfront investment in greater long-term global stability. Such a trajectory may solidify the viability and credibility of the U.S. dollar as a global anchor, thereby stabilizing Emerging Markets economies and global growth.

  • The seismic analytic collapse fragility of soil nail wall structures with a shotcrete concrete covering is investigated in this paper. The finite element modeling process has been well described. The fragility function evaluates the link between ground motion intensities and the likelihood of reaching a specific level of damage. The soil nail wall has been subjected to incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) from medium to strong ground vibrations. The nonlinear dynamic analysis of the soil nail wall uses a set of 20 earthquake ground motions with varying PGAs. PGD is utilized as an intensity measure, the numerical findings demonstrate that the soil nailing wall reaction is particularly sensitive to earthquake intensity measure (IM).
