Digital image forgery is becoming a topic of great interest with regard to honesty in imaging. We can often see forged digital images in a variety of places, such as the internet, and magazines, and in images used in political ads, etc. These can reduce the reliability and factual basis of the information contained in image. Therefore, objectivity is needed to determine if the image is forged so as to prevent confusion in the viewing public. Most digital forgeries consist of image resizing, rotating including the following interpolations. To find evidence of interpolation in forged images, this paper proposes a new method for detecting digital image forgery using general interpolation factors analyzed through re-interpolation algorithm of the forged images in order to determine the differences in the patterns. Through the re-interpolation algorithm we could detect the forged region and filtering region used image retouching included to interpolation.

Recently, we have many kinds of picture format and display, and resizing (scaling) of picture becomes important. In this processing, quality of picture depends on re-sizing method. For this, some methods to improve the PSNR have been proposed. However, subjective picture quality is more important. Especially, degradation caused by re-sizing, such as jaggy (aliasing) and ringing, should be reduced. To solve them, we have proposed the method using directional adaptive interpolation. To improve the performance of this method, we consider the shape analysis this time. In the proposed method, directional adaptive processing is applied for pure edge only. In the texture area and flat area, 8 tap re-sampling filter is used. As the results of processing, the reductions of jaggy and incorrect interpolated pixels are recognized. The subjective picture quality of proposed method is significantly better than 8-tap re-sampling which gives good PSNR.

Motion controllers are essential components for operating industrial equipments. Compared with general industrial controllers, motion controllers allow motion control requiring greater speed and precision. This paper presents a method for controlling multi-axes motors via industrial networks. To achieve a line or arc interpolation, the master system delivers instructions to slave systems connected to the network. The network instruction transmitted from the master controller is re-interpolated by the individual slaves through sub-interpolators. The re-interpolated feedrate information is transmitted to the motion control loop in which the current position and the reference position are then calculated. In this way, the interpolation driving between control units is achieved via industrial networks.
The Immersed boundary method(IBM) is one of CFD techniques which can simulate flow field around complex objectives using simple Cartesian grid system. In the previous studies the IBM has mostly been implemented to fractional step method based Navier-Stokes solvers. In these cases, pressure buildup near IB was found to occur when linear interpolation and stadard mass conservation is used and the interpolation scheme became complicated when higher order of interpolation is adopted. In this study, we implement the IBM to an incompressible Navier-Stokes solver which uses SIMPLE algorithm. Bi-linear and quadratic interpolation equations were formulated by using only geometric information of boundary to reconstruct velocities near IB. Flow around 2D circular cylinder at Re=40 and 100 was solved by using these formulations. It was found that the pressure buildup was not observed even when the bi-linear interpolation was adopted. The use of quadratic interpolation made the predicted aerodynamic forces in good agreement with those of previous studies.

The weight coefficients of the bi-linear and quadratic interpolation equations were formulated by using only geometric information of boundary to reconstruct velocities near IB. For an analysis of moving boundary, we smulated an oscillating circular cylinder with Re=100 and KC(Keulegan-Carpenter) number of 5. The predicted flow fields were compared with experimental data and they also showed good agreements.
International standard specification, H.264/SVC improved from H.264/AVC, is set up so as to promote free use of huge multimedia data in various channel environments.;H.264/AVC is a international standard speicification for video compression, adopted and commercialized as standard for DMB broadcasting by JVT of ISO/IEC MPEG and ITU-T VCEG. SVC standard uses 'intra/inter prediction' in AVC as well as 'inter-layer intra prediction', 'inter-layer motion prediction' and 'inter-layer residual prediction' to improve efficiency of encoding. Among prediction technologies, 'inter-layer intra prediction' is to use co-located block of up sampled sublevels as a prediction signal. At this time, application of interpolation is one of the most important factors to determine encoding efficiency. SVC's currently using poly-phase FIR filter of 4-tap and 2-tap respectively to luma components. This paper is written for the purpose of analyzing encoding performance according to the interpolation. For this purpose, we applied poly-phase FIR filter of '2-tap', '4-tap' and '6-tap' respectively to luma components and then measured bit-rate, PNSR and running time of interpolation filter. We're expecting that the analysis results of this paper will be utilized for effective application of interpolation filter. SVC standard uses 'intra/inter prediction' in AVC as well as 'inter-layer intra prediction', 'inter-layer motion prediction' and 'inter-layer residual prediction' to improve efficiency of encoding.

In this paper, we present a new image up-sampling method which registers low resolution images to the high resolution grid when Bayesian super-resolution image processing is performed. The proposed up-sampling method interpolates high-resolution pixels using high-frequency data lying in all the low resolution images, instead of up-sampling each low resolution image separately. The interpolation is based on B-spline non-uniform re-sampling, adjusted for the super-resolution image processing. The experimental results demonstrate the effects when different up-sampling methods generally used such as zero-padding or bilinear interpolation are applied to the super-resolution image reconstruction. Then, we show that the proposed hybird up-sampling method generates high-resolution images more accurately than conventional methods with quantitative and qualitative assess measures.

This paper proposed a technique of structural re-analysis for the evaluation of dynamic responses of bridge structure under moving loads using experimental modal results. For successful structural re-analysis, it is required to have accurate estimation techniques of the modal characteristics of bridge structures. The natural frequencies and mode shapes were identified by direct fourier analysis techniques and damping ratios by the random decrement method, respectively. An interpolation method was also proposed for the extension of mode shape measured on limited DOFs. Second, the structural reanalysis was performed using moving mass model and identified modal parameters. The results from the reanalysis show that the proposed technique is very reasonable to evaluate the actual behavior of bridge structures under moving loads.
In this paper, we propose a new method for detecting digital forgery that identify interpolated region between digital composited images. For detecting the interpolation factor and the tampered regions, we perform two algorithms: The first algorithm is to estimate the interpolation factors using the differential equation for forgery image along the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal directions, respectively; The second algorithm is to scan the interpolation factors along each direction for detection areas as the mask of the optical window size($64{\times}64$) in order to find out the forgery region. A detection map of the forgery is classified with the magnitude of estimated interpolation factors into colors. This detection map can be used to find out interpolated regions from the tampered image. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed algorithms are proven on several examples. We also show the proposed approach is to accurately detect interpolated regions from digital composite images.

In an H.264/AVC video encoder, the motion estimation at fractional pixel accuracy improves a coding efficiency and image quality. However, it requires additional computation overheads for fractional search and interpolation, and thus, reducing the computation complexity of fractional search becomes more important. This paper proposes a Pixel Re-composition Fractional Motion Estimation (PRFME) algorithm for an H.264/AVC video encoder. Fractional Motion Estimation performs interpolation for the overlapped pixels which increases the computational complexity. PRFME can reduce the computational complexity by eliminating the overlapped pixel interpolation. Compared with the fast full search, the proposed algorithm can reduce 18.1% of computational complexity, meanwhile, the maximum PSNR degradation is less than 0.067dB. Therefore, the proposed PRFME algorithm is quite suitable for mobile applications requiring low power and complexity.
