  • In this study, the performance of the NHPP software reliability model with exponential distribution (Exponential Basic, Inverse Exponential, Lindley, Rayleigh) characteristics was comparatively analyzed, and based on this, the optimal reliability model was also presented. To analyze the software failure phenomenon, the failure time data collected during system operation was used, and the parameter estimation was solved by applying the maximum likelihood estimation method (MLE). Through various comparative analysis (mean square error analysis, true value predictive power analysis of average value function, strength function evaluation, and reliability evaluation applied with mission time), it was found that the Lindley model was an efficient model with the best performance. Through this study, the reliability performance of the distribution with the characteristic of the exponential form, which has no existing research case, was newly identified, and through this, basic design data that software developers could use in the initial stage can be presented.

  • In this paper, two different computational methods, called Rayleigh-Ritz and collocation are developed to estimate the ultimate strength of composite plates. Progressive damage behavior of moderately thick composite laminated plates is studied under in-plane compressive load and uniform lateral pressure. The formulations of both methods are based on the concept of the principle of minimum potential energy. First order shear deformation theory and the assumption of large deflections are used to develop the equilibrium equations of laminated plates. Therefore, Newton-Raphson technique will be used to solve the obtained system of nonlinear algebraic equations. In Rayleigh-Ritz method, two degradation models called complete and region degradation models are used to estimate the degradation zone around the failure location. In the second method, a new energy based collocation technique is introduced in which the domain of the plate is discretized into the Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto points. In this new method, in addition to the two previous models, the new model named node degradation model will also be used in which the material properties of the area just around the failed node are reduced. To predict the failure location, Hashin failure criteria have been used and the corresponding material properties of the failed zone are reduced instantaneously. Approximation of the displacement fields is performed by suitable harmonic functions in the Rayleigh-Ritz method and by Legendre basis functions (LBFs) in the second method. Finally, the results will be calculated and discussions will be conducted on the methods.

  • This paper presents a stochastic model for the software failure phenomenon based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP). The failure process is analyzed to develop a suitable mean value function for the NHPP ; expressions are given for several performance measure. Actual software failure data are compared with generalized model by Goel dependent on the constant reflecting the quality of testing. The performance measures and parametric inferences of the new models, Rayleigh and Gumbel distributions, are discussed. The results of the new models are applied to real software failure data and compared with Goel-Okumoto and Yamada, Ohba and Osaki models. Tools of parameter inference was used method of the maximun likelihood estimate and the bisection algorithm for the computing nonlinear root. In this paper, using the sum of the squared errors, model selection was employed. The numerical example by NTDS data was illustrated.

  • The NHPP software reliability models for failure analysis can have, in the literature, exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, finite failure NHPP models that assuming the expected value of the defect and infinite failures NHPP models that repairing software failure point in time reflects the situation, were presented for comparing property. Commonly used in the field of software reliability based on Rayleigh distribution software reliability model finite failures and infinite failures were presented for comparison problem. As a result, infinite fault model is effectively finite fault models, respectively. The parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation was conducted. In this research, can be able to help software developers for considering software failure property some extent.

  • Random process plays a major role in wireless communication system to analytically derive the probability distribution function of the various statistical distribution. In this paper, we derive the decreasing function of the exponential distribution under the given condition which is expressed as wireless channel condition. The probability distribution function of Gaussian, Laplacian, Rayleigh and Nakagami distribution are also derived. Extensive simulation results of these statistical distributions are provided to prove that random process has a significant role in the wireless communications. In addition, the Rayleigh and Rician channels show specific examples of visible distance communication and invisible distance channel environment. This paper is motivated by that we assume a block fading channel model, where the channel is constant during a transmission block and changes independently between consecutive transmission block, can achieve a better performance in high SNR regime with i.i.d channel. This algorithm for realizing these transforms can be applied to the Kronecker MIMO channel.

  • An equivalent linearization technique based on Rayleigh peak distribution for friction damper and brace system (FDBS) under stochastic excitation is proposed. For verification, shaking table test of a small scale 3-story building model with the FDBS is conducted for various slip moment levels. Using experimental result, equivalent linearization of the FDBS is conducted based on Rayleigh peak distribution, which is compared with measured peak distribution. For comparative study, model updating technique is applied based on identified modal properties. Finally, complex modal analysis and time history analysis for the obtained equivalent linear systems are conducted and compared with experimental result

  • In this paper, we proposed a new type's PZT actuator using surface acoustic wave. This actuator uses Rayleigh wave as an operational traveling wave. For the development of the actuator, each components of surface acoustic wave motor like PZT substrate, slider and IDT was studied theoretically and fabricated. For the measurement of transfer function of PZT substrate and operation of surface acoustic wave motor, network analyzer and 13.56MHz RF generator were used. Also the model which expresses the driving characteristic best was suggested and simulation was executed for the suggested model. And the future research works for improvement of SAW actuator was suggested.

  • In this paper we present a new formula which can predict the exact detection probability of a generalized order statistics (GOS) constant false alarm rate (DFAR) detector for a partially correlated Rayleigh target model (0 < $ \rho$< 1) in a closed form, where $\rho$ is the correlation coefficient between returned pulses. By simply substituting a set of specific coefficient into the derived formula, one can obtain the detection probability of any kind of CFAR detector. Detectors may include the order statistics CFAR detector, the censored mean level detector, and the trimmed mean CFAR detector, but are not necessarily restricted to them. The numerical result for the first order Markov correlation model as applied to some of the detectors shows that as $\rho$ increases from zero to one, higher signal-to-noise ratio is required to achieve the same detection probability.
