Aging phenomena of 0.2PMN-0.8PZT multilayered ceramic actuators(MCA) have been investigated at the room temperature. The piezoelectric materials were synthesized as conventional ceramic process, and MCA were fabricatedby tape casting methods. The crystalline structures and lattice parameters were investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis, showing the structure was tetragonal and c/a was about 1.01. And, the effective electromechanical coupling coefficient keff and pseudo-piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$were measured. Variable unipolar electric fields, $2{\sim}4kV/mm$, were applied to MCh to investigate the aging characteristics. After 2 kV/mm unipolar electric field, keff and $d_{33}$ were 0.454 and 4.44 respectively. The measured and simulated values using for aging phenomena analysis, had a good fit to the linear logarithmic stretched exponential law.

In the present study, the piezoelectricity and polarization of multilayer ceramic actuator, being designed to stack PMN-PZ-PT ceramic layers and Ag-Pd electrode layers alternatively, were investigated under a consideration of geometric factor, the volume ratio of the ceramic to the electrode layers. The actuators were fabricated by tape casting of $0.2Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3)O_3-0.38PbZrO_3-0,42PbTiO_3$ followed by lamination and burnout & co-firing processes. The actuators of $10\times10\times0.6~2\textrm{mm}^3$ in size were formed in a way that $60 ~ 200\mu\textrm{m}$ thick were stacked alternatively with $5\mu\textrm{m}$ thick electrode layer. Increases in polarization and electric field-induced displacement with thickness of the ceramic layer were attributed to change of $90^{\circ}$/$180^{\circ}$ domain ratio, which was affected by interlayer internal stress. The piezoelectricity and actuation behaviors were found to depend upon the volume ratio (or thickness ratio) of ceramic to electrode layers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate to effect of the ZrN coated on corrosion resistance and physical property of dental Co-Cr alloys using various instruments. Methods: The specimens were used, respectively, for experiment, Arc Ion plating was carried out for dental casting alloys using ZrN coated materials with nitrogen gas. ZrN coated surface of each specimen was observed with field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), vickers hardness tester, and electrochemical tester. Results: The current density of ZrN coated specimen was smaller than that of non-coated specimen in 0.9% NaCl solution. Pit nucleated at scratch of specimen. The pitting corrosion resistant |$E_{max}-E_{rep}$| increased in order of ZrN coated (110 mV), and non-coated wire (100 mV). Conclusion: The corrosion potential of the ZrN coated specimen was comparatively high. the surface of ZrN coated specimen was more smooth than that of other kinds of non-coated specimen. ZrN coated surface showed higher hardness than that of non-coated surface.

A dynamic nanoindentation method was applied to study an Fe-18 at.% Gd alloy as a neutron-absorbing material prepared by vacuum arc-melting and cast in a mold. The Fe-18 at.% Gd cast alloy had a microstructure with matrix phases and an Fe-rich primary dendrite of $Fe_9Gd$. Rietveld refinement of the X-ray spectra showed that the Fe-18 at.% Gd cast alloy consisted of 35.84 at.% $Fe_3Gd$, 6.58 at.% $Fe_5Gd$, 16.22 at.% $Fe_9Gd$, 1.87 at.% $Fe_2Gd$, and 39.49 at.% ${\beta}-Fe_{17}Gd_2$. The average nanohardness of the primary dendrite phase and the matrix phases were 8.7 GPa and 9.3 GPa, respectively. The fatigue limit of the matrix phase was approximately 37% higher than that of the primary dendrite phase. The dynamic nanoindentation method is useful for identifying local phases and for analyzing local mechanical properties.
The inhomogeneous texture through the thickness direction can be developed during hot rolling deformation in aluminum alloy. In this study, the inhomogeneous texture evolution through the thickness direction during hot rolling deformation in Al-5 wt%Mg alloy produced by a new strip casting technology was measured experimentally. Macrotexture measurement was conducted using X-ray diffractometer. A finite element analysis with ABAQUS/StandardTM and rate sensitive polycrystal model were used to predict the evolution of hot rolling texture. The experimental results of Al-5 wt%Mg alloy were compared with calculated results. The shear texture components tend to be increased at the surface region of the hot-rolled specimen. It is found that triclinic sample symmetry is more accurate assumption for texture analysis and simulation in the surface region of hot-rolled aluminum alloy.
To improving the mechanical properties of Mg alloys at high temperature, we investigated the mechanical properties at high temperature and the change of microstructure of Mg-6 wt%Zn-0.4 wt%Mn and Mg-6 wt%Zn-0.4 wt%Mn-1 wt%Ag alloys on age treatment that have a stable MgZn phase at high temperature and $AgMg_4$ improving yield stress. In order to predict thermodynamic data of Mg alloys, a phase diagram and precipitation phase were calculated using a thermodynamic program, and it was confirmed that the MgZn and $AgMg_4$ phase existed as main precipitation in this alloys. The experimental data examined using DSC and XRD were comparable with the calculated data for reliability. In order to analysis the microstructure and precipitate phase during aging treatment, it was measured by SEM/EDS and TEM. Lastly, mechanical properties of the MgZn and $AgMg_4$ phase were measured by a tensile test at high temperature.
The newly developed ${\alpha}-case$ controlled mold material for Ti investment castings was suggested in this research. The $Al_2O_3$ mold containing interstitial $TiO_2$ and substitutional $Ti_3Al$ was manufactured by the reaction between $Al_2O_3$ and Ti. It is obvious that as the $TiO_2$ and $Ti_3Al$ content in the mold surface were increased, the depth of the interfacial reaction was significantly reduced. In addition, substitutional $Ti_5Si_3$ in the mold surface owing to the reaction between Ti and $SiO_2$ from the binder was effective for ${\alpha}-case$ reduction. Therefore, the ${\alpha}-case$ reduction was accomplished by the diffusion barrier effect of interstitial $TiO_2$, substitutional $Ti_3Al$ and $Ti_5Si_3$.
The aim of this study was to obtain information on the ancient material of cast bronze through an investigation of the microstructure and impurity characteristics of the casting. Three Koryo bronze coins were analyzed using an optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, and electron dispersive X-ray analyses were used to determine the composition of the specimens. The three coins had 4 phases: ${\alpha}phase$, ${\delta}phase$, Pb, and impurities ($Cu_2S$). $Cu_2S$ was found to exist near Pb or in ${\delta}phase$. $Cu_2S$ is the inter mediate product of copper ore refining. Therefore, the copper ore was not completely refined. To find out the characteristic of $Cu_2S$, we melt 1)Koryo bronze coin and 2)$Cu_2S$ and Pb powder at 1273 K. The reaction between $Cu_2S$ and Pb at 1273 K yielded fine Cu and black gas, which was identified to be PbS and is presented below: $Cu_2S+Pb{\rightarrow}PbS{\uparrow}+2Cu$.

An inorganic binder is eco-friendly because it can be cured at low temperatures and does not emit harmful gases. In addition, related research is progressing rapidly owing to the small defects in the core. On the other hand, inorganic binders based on silicates (SiO2-Na2O) have unique absorbent properties. This results in the absorption of moisture from the air and the weakening of the bonding force. In particular, the castings used in cast steel require high-strength properties because of the higher temperatures than aluminum castings. In this study, waxes containing ester groups were selected to improve the absorption of moisture of inorganic binders. The inorganic binder was characterized by X-ray fluorescence and thermogravimetric analysis-differential thermal analysis. The inorganic binder core strength was then evaluated. In the case of an inorganic binder containing wax, the water resistance increased to 216 N/㎠, confirming the up to 55% improvement in strength. Excellent casting characteristics were confirmed through steel castings.
