  • RPC(Rational Polynomial Camera) models have become the replacement model of choice for a number of high resolution satellite imagery providers. RPCs(Rational Polynomial Coefficients) provide a compact accurate representation of the ground to image geometry, allowing users to perform full photogrammetric processing of satellite imagery including block adjustment, 3D feature extraction and orthorectification. This paper presents an algorithm for 3D feature extraction using downhill simpler method which requires only function evaluations, not derivatives. The algorithm was implemented as an executable software program and tested using stereo IKONOS images of Seoul city. The results showed that the proposed algorithm was fast and accurate enough to be used as a practical method for the 3D feature extraction from stereo images with RPCs.

  • VE aims at reduction in a budget, improvement of function, structural safety and quality security for public construction projects. However, there is possibility for the structural safety and quality security review to be insufficient because related regulations are mostly composed of analysis on economic efficiency of design. In addition, due to the misconception about VE as a cost saving methodology, an alternative is being presented which still focuses mainly on cost saving, but with no objective evaluation of function related to cost. In order to improve this, the government adopted the reduction of life cycle cost and proposal of value improvement, and let people specify the cost and function of the original plan versus the alternative plan, and the value changes between them. However, it is written mainly into practical convenience rather than theoretical basis since a specific way is not suggested. The current method sets a different starting point by applying the attributional difference of function and cost. Furthermore, an evaluation standard for correlating is an important element in rational decision making for assessing and choosing an alternative. This paper analyzes the process and method of function & cost scoring when performing VE and suggests a mathematical normalization model in order to support rational decision making when selecting an optimum plan.

  • Rational choice theory holds that the alternative with largest expected utility in the choice set should always be chosen. However, it is often observed that an alternative with the largest expected utility is not always chosen while the choice task itself being avoided. Such a choice phenomenon cannot be explained by the traditional expected utility maximization principle. The current study posits shows that such a phenomenon can be attributed to the gap between the expected perceived gain (or loss) and the expected perceived value. This study mathematically analyses the relationship between the expectation of an alternative's gains or losses over the reference point and its expected value, when the perceived gains or losses follow continuous probability distributions. The proposed expected value (EV) function can explain the effects of loss aversion and uncertainty on the evaluation of an alternative based on the prospect theory value function. The proposed function reveals why the expected gain of an alternative should exceed some positive threshold in order for the alternative to be chosen. The model also explains why none of the two equally or similarly attractive options is chosen when they are presented together, but either of them is chosen when presented alone. The EV function and EG-EV curve can extract and visualize the core tenets of the prospect theory more clearly than the value function itself.

  • This study presents on generation coefficients of the RFM using GEO-level stereo images of the IKONOS satellite. 3-D positioning and DEM generation of this model on the test field. In result, the maximum error of image coordinates acquired by the upward transform of the RFM did nat exceed 8 pixels. DEM was generated with kriging interpolation extracted three dimensional ground coordinate to rational quadratic function form, me compared it to reference digital elevation model made from 1:5,000 digital map and 1:1,000 digital map, and so, could generate digital elevation model in the accuracy as average RMSE of elevation was ${\pm}$ 3∼5 m in RFM.

  • Integral type system is that a system is represented by a proper rational function. In this paper, novel control scheme based on model reference approach is proposed for integral type system. The proposed scheme compensates various undesirable effects of the system. In especially, the proposed scheme applied to DC servo control system, analyzed its control characteristic. Performances of the proposed system show excellent control characteristics; complete compensation of the undesirable nonlinear friction and load viscous, For proving realistic validities, LOS(Line Of Sight) stabilization system which has typically many nonlinear effects is experimented. After executing the computer simulation in "MATLAB", then the results are compared with the experiments. The results are very similar in theoretical study and the proposed control scheme is successfully verified. verified.

  • RFM is the sensor model of IKONOS imagery for end-users. IKONOS imagery vendors provide RPC (Rational Polynomial Coefficients), Ration Function Model coefficients for IKONOS, for end-users with imagery. So it is possible that end-users obtain geospatial information in their IKONOS imagery without additional any effort. But there are requirements still fur rigorous 3D positions on RPC user. Provided RPC can not satisfy user and company to generate precision 3D terrain model. In IKONOS imagery, physical sensor modeling is difficult because IKONOS vendors do not provide satellite ephemeris data and abstract sensor modeling requires many GCP well distributed in the whole image as well as other satellite imagery. Therefore RPC modification is better choice. If a few GCP are available, RPC can be modified by method which is introduced in this paper. Study on evaluation modified RPC in IKONOS reports reasonable result. Pseudo GCP generated with vendor's RPC and additional GCP make it possible through sequential solution.

  • As the exiting school facilities become old and unfit for new curriculum, the systematical remodelling process based on its educational and physical functions is required. due to the inadequate maintenance and repairing practices, unnecessary costs are expended. Therefore, this study aims to establish a remodelling decision-making model for improving the educational environment of the existing school facilities. According to the budget system, it proposes the concept of remodelling that includes the activities of extension, reconstruction, repair and improvement. This study classifies the performance evaluation for school facilities as that of safety, durability and educational function, and articulates the assessment standards, methods and elements. In the end, it suggests a rational model for remodelling decision-making that can provide efficient and comprehensive remodelling process, economic and sustainable school development.

  • This paper proposes an improved unit commitment algorithm for the purpose of rational operation of electric power systems. Security function is introduced to consider generation system reliability as well as economical properties in the algotithm . As a stte model for assessment of state probabilities, the 3-state model in which the probability of the units for commitment can be considered is proposed and applied, so that the algorithm becomes more practical and reasonable one. A decision bounding scheme which can be applied to all kinds of system is described and the numerical results obtained for KEPCO and model systems are also presented to assure the availability of the proposed technique.

  • The paper deals with an approach to time domain simulation for closed end at the downstream of pipe, hydraulic lines terminating into a tank and series lines with change of cross sectional area. Time domain simulation of a fluid power systems containing hydraulic lines is very complex and difficult if the transfer functions consist of hyperbolic Bessel functions which is the case for the distributed parameter dissipative model. In this paper, the magnitudes and phases of the complex transfer functions of hydraulic lines are calculated, and the MATLAB Toolbox is used to formulate a rational polynomial approximation for these transfer functions in the frequency domain. The approximated transfer functions are accurate over a designated frequency range, and used to analyze the time domain response. This approach is usefully to simulate fluid power systems with hydraulic lines without to approximate the frequency dependent viscous friction.

  • Purpose: To derive key requirements and key technologies for weapon system acquisition business by using Qualify Function Deployment (QFD), and to reduce business cost by setting the target performance and key expense of weapon system. Methods: We propose a QFD methodology that can induce rational decision-making by translating analyst's subjective opinions into quantitative values when analyzing requirements at the initial stage of weapon system development project. Based on QFD methodology, QFD application model combining house of quality, value engineering, and analogy cost estimating technique is presented. Results: It was possible to analyze the specific requirements necessary for the development of the weapon system, to solve the communication problem of the participants, to set clear development direction and target. Conclusion: By applying the QFD application model at the early stage of the weapon system acquisition project, it is possible to reduce the business cost by establishing clear development direction and goal through the procedural analysis process.
