  • All components such as structure, engine, electrical equipment, wire etc. should have certified qualities and functions for safe flight. The wire like a blood vessel of man is connected with most components and supply a electrical signal or power to them and only certified wire through a lot of tests such as rating, flame resistance, self-extinguishing, protection of EMI etc. must be used in aircraft. In other words, the wire should observe many certification requirements because it is one of the most important components.

  • A percentage current differential relay is widely used for transformer protection. Because many percentage current differential relays recently use modified methods instead of conventional methods for deciding the operating characteristics of the large current region, in this paper, the operating region of a percentage current differential relay is analyzed in input-output current domain instead of operating-restraint current domain. An effective method to set the operating region when a CT is saturated is proposed with a series of investigations comparing a conventional method with the proposed modified method. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated for internal and external faults of a power transformer having the voltage rating of 345/154kV. EMTP-RV is used for the relaying data collection.

  • Capacitor has been used principally for the power factor compensation long ago. However now it does as passive filter to reduce harmonics of nonlinear load with reactor. Most of the customer's low-voltage feeder has been designed with approximately balanced and connected at the 3 phase four wire system. But voltage and current unbalance is appeared by the mixing operation of single or three phase load etc. The addition of reactor at the condenser may rise its terminal voltage. Voltage and current values above rating can act on electrical stress on the condenser. In this paper, we calculated and measured that voltage, current and capacity of condenser are changed under the voltage balance. We conclude that magnitude and deviation of phase voltage act on major point of electrical stress.

  • In this paper, we proposed the novel hybrid multi-level inverter using combination of the output voltage of transformers to reduce the THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) and improve the waveform of output voltage. The proposed multi-level inverter used the output of transformer which is 1times, 2times, 4times of input of the transformers. So we increased the output voltage from the reduce the number of switching component and transformer. Also, we tested the proposed prototype 15-level inverter to clarify the proposed electric circuit and reasonableness of control signal for the proposed multi -level PWM inverter.

  • Proposed Multi-level PDP sustain Driver make use of element which has a low voltage rating instead of suggested method by the existing Webber and it passes through a second phase both rising and falling at sustaining voltage waveform In accordance with the change of timing phase(Tr1, Ti1, Tr2) performance comparison of a electric discharge characteristics in a PDP module has been carried out. At the conclusion of experimentation, the feature is extended by alteration of Ti1 and it has little to do with alteration of Tr1.

  • A new primary-side-assisted zero-voltage and zero-current switching full bridge DC-DC converter with transformer isolation is proposed. The auxiliary circuit adopted to assist ZCS for the leading leg is composed of only one small transformer and two diodes. It has a simple and robust structure, and load current control capability even in short circuit conditions. Possibility of magnetic saturation due to asymmetricity of circuits or transient phenomena is greatly reduced, which is a very attractive feature in DC/DC converters with transformer isolation. The power rating of the auxiliary transformer is about 10% of that of the main transformer. Operation of a 12.5KW prototype designed for welding application was verified by experiments.

  • High-speed brushless permanent magnet machines are good for compressor and aerospace applications, etc, since they are conductive to high efficiency, high power density, small size and low weight. This paper describes a diametrically magnetized PM motor with the rating of 4.3kW and 50000 rpm fur high-speed drive applications. To bear strong stress from high speed, rotor was designed cylindrical structure, was magnetized diametrically permanent magnet. The performance characteristic of motor was evaluated by means of FEA(Finite Element Analysis), no-load test And then, in order to find back-EMF constant, used FEA, search coil.

  • In order to turn on the SCR gate, trigger signal source have to provide appropriate gate current and voltage under the gate rating based on the characteristic of SCR, the nature of load and power. It will be essential design factors such as trigger source impedance, trigger signal occurring, signal time width and turn off conditions. Also minimum gate trigger current is changed with the deterioration of SCR. SCR, which is needed large gate trigger current absolutely, is very important for SCR characteristic test because it causes unstable output in the misfile or makes a trouble to pulse trigger circuits. This paper shows scheme to test the performance of SCR with the precision analyzing mechanism and the changing trend of minimum gate current under the trigger conditions.

  • A regenerative signal amplifying gate driver of self-excited electronic ballast is presented. It can be used for high pressure sodium (HPS) lamp without auxiliary external ignitor. Since the HPS lamp requires very high ignition voltage at start up, the resonant frequency of the circuit must be increased to obtain high voltage oscillations in spite of relatively small resonant current. The presented gate driver amplifies the current of gate drive transformer and raises the gate-source voltage Quickly to turn on the MOSFET switches. Hence, the resonant frequency can be increased more than 100kHz. The HPS lamp used in the simulation and experiment has the rating of 400W input power at 220V input ac voltage source. The experiments show that the resonant frequency is above 150kHz at start up.

  • The switching device in an inductive circuit is stressed by the over-voltage at the turn-off time. Thus if the peak value of the over-voltage is not properly limited, the switching device may be broken. Therefore, the snubber circuit should be added to protect the switching device from the over-voltage. The circuit designer must be familiar with the design of the snubber This paper tests the possibility that TVS instead of the conventional snubber can be applied to the protection circuit of the switching device without using the complicated design equations, and shows that the rating of TVS can be easily selected by considering only several parameters of TVS. The experimental results show the reduced switching voltage of the switching device at the turn-off time.
