The study investigated the behavior of plain and fibered Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) beams under varying loading conditions using integrated analysis of the flexure and acoustic emission tests. The loading rate of testing is -0.25 -2 mm/min. It is observed that on increasing loading rate, flexural strength increases, and toughness decreases. The acoustic emission testing revealed that higher loading rates accelerate crack propagation. Fiber effect and matrix cracking are identified as significant contributors to the release of acoustic emission energy, with fiber rupture/failure and matrix cracking showing rate-dependent behavior. Crack classification analysis indicated that the rise angle (RA) value decreased under quasi-static loading. The average frequency (AF) value increased with the loading rate, but this trend reversed under rate-dependent conditions. K-means analysis identified distinct clusters of crack types with unique frequency and duration characteristics at different loading rates. Furthermore, the historic index and signal strength decreased with increasing loading rate after peak capacity, while the severity index increased in the post-peak zone, indicating more severe damage. The sudden rise in the historic index and cumulative signal strength indicates the possibility of several occurrences, such as the emergence of a significant crack, shifts in cracking modes, abrupt failure, or notable fiber debonding/pull-out. Moreover, there is a distinct rise in the number of AE knees corresponding to the increase in loading rate. The crack mapping from acoustic emission testing aligned with observed failure patterns, validating its use in structural health monitoring.

In this study, ventilation flow rate and pressure rise through a tunnel are simulated numerically using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for various conditions such as roughness height of the surface of tunnel, swirl angle and hub/tip ratio of jet fan, and entrance and exit effects. By using a modified wall function, friction factor can be predicted with respect to the Moody chart within 10% of error for the circular pipe flow and 15% for the present tunnel. For more accurate design, the effect of the swirl angle and hub/tip ratio of jet fan, which is not included in the theoretical equation of pressure rise by jet fan needs to be considered.
The present study has conducted the analysis of flows in a blower with double suction. The air handling system is for supplying air flows into a plant. The present system has a couple of impellers in axial direction for enhanced flow rate. Main interest lies on the improvements of static pressure rise and total efficiency of the system. The present treatment of the reform is to secure a spatial distance between the fan and the casing of the system and change the shape of the cut-off part. The resultant performance after the reform shows increased pressure-rise and efficiency of the system

Stratified charge has been thought as one of the ways to avoid a sharp pressure rise on HCCI combustion. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential of stratified charge for reducing PRR on HCCI combustion. The pre-mixture with thermal, mixing and EGR stratifications is charged in Rapid Compression Machine. After that, the pre-mixture is compressed and in that process, in-cylinder gas pressure and temperature are analyzed. Additionally numerical calculation with multi-zones modeling is run to know the potential of stratified charge for reducing PRR.
This study was conducted to improve the control performance of a current variable-rate controller for granular fertilizers. Simulation model was developed. Optimized proportional, integral and derivative gains were determined by simulation model using 2nd order PID gain learning algorithm, and these control gains were evaluated through the field tests. Important results of this study are as follows; 1. Principles of pre-existing variable-rate application of granular fertilizers were investigated. 2. Simulation model of a PID controller that could simulate the control system was developed by using Matlab/Simulink program. The program was to determine PID control coefficients through the simulation model and 2nd order PID gain learning algorithm. 3. PID control coefficients obtained from the simulation were applied to the developed model. When the step input was given, Maximum overshoot were 1.96%, rise time were 0.05 sec, settling time were 0.06 sec and steady state error were 0.21 % respectively. 4. The simulation model was verified through field tests. The errors of maximum overshoot were 10%, rise time were 0.11 sec, settling time were 0.40 sec and steady state error were 8% because of loads and noises. Rise time was decreased to one third of that of the pre-existing system. 5. If the speed of a fertilizing machine is $0.3{\sim}0.6\;m/s$ and the maximum rotation speed of a discharging roller is 64 rpm, rise time would be 0.26 sec and fertilizing machine would cover the distance of $0.07{\sim}0.15\;m$ with settling time of 0.4 sec, fertilizing machine would cover the distance of $0.12{\sim}0.24\;m$.
Purpose: In order to find out the impact of changes in polymerization conditions of orthodontic acrylic resin on maximum load. Methods: While maintaining mixing ratio 3:1 of polymer and monomer in spray-on way in the production condition of polymerization temperature $25^{\circ}C$ or $37^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes or 30 minutes of polymerization time by pressure $3kfg/cm^2$ or $6kfg/cm^2$ in the lab maintaining $25^{\circ}C$ of room temperature, the change in maximum load rise rate was tested by producing 5 acrylic resin specimens for orthodontics per group to meet the standards of $25mm{\times}2mm{\times}2mm$ and using INSTRON with the 3rd bar 2mm in diameter and parallel support bending device of $15{\pm}0.1mm$ as test equipment showing 30.00mm/min of crosshead speed, $50{\pm}16$ N/min of load ratio in the laboratory of $24^{\circ}C$ room temperature and as a result, the following results were obtained. Results: 1. When increasing pressure from $3kfg/cm^2$ to $6kfg/cm^2$, maximum load was lowered by -4.285%. 2. When increasing polymerization time from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, maximum load rose by 3.848%. 3. When increasing polymerization temperature from $27^{\circ}C$ to $37^{\circ}C$, maximum load rose by 5.854%. Conclusion: Considering the above test results that polymerization time and polymerization temperature when polymerizing acrylic resin for orthodontics according to changes in working conditions had an impact on the rate of rise of maximum load values but the rate of rise was lowered when increasing pressure from $3kfg/cm^2$ to $6kfg/cm^2$, we came to a conclusion that high pressure more than necessary does not affect the rate of rise of maximum load.

The HCCI engine is a prospective internal combustion engine with which high diesel-like efficiencies and very low NOx and particulate emissions can be achieved. However, several technical issues must be resolved before HCCI engines can be used for different applications. One of the issues concerning the HCCI engine is that the operating range of this engine is limited by the rapid pressure rise caused by the release of excessive heat. This heat release is because of the self-accelerated combustion reaction occurring in the engine and the resulting engine knock in the high-load region. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of thermal stratification and fuel stratification in reducing the pressure rise rate in an HCCI engine. The concentrations of NOx and CO in the exhaust gas are also evaluated to confirm combustion completeness and NOx emission. The computation is carried out with the help of a multizone code, by using the information on the detailed chemical kinetics and the effect of thermal and fuel stratification on the onset of ignition and rate of combustion. The engine is fueled with dimethyl ether (DME), which allows heat release to occur in two stages, as opposed to methane, which allows for heat release in a single stage.
This paper presents a three-dimensional finite element method based structural analysis model for structural analysis of reinforced concrete high-rise buildings during construction. The model considered the time-dependency of the structural configuration and material properties as well as the effect of the construction rate and shoring stiffness. Uniaxial compression tests of young concrete within 28 days of age were conducted to establish the time-dependent compressive stress-strain relationship of concrete, which was then used as input parameters to the structural analysis model. In-situ tests of a RC high-rise building were conducted, the results of which were used for model verification. Good agreement between the test results and model predictions was achieved. At the end, a parametric study was conducted using the verified model. The results indicated that the floor position and construction rate had significant effect on the shore load, whereas the influence of the shore removal timing and shore stiffness have much smaller. It was also found that the floors are more prone to cracking during construction than is ultimate bending failure.

This paper addresses a theoretical approach to calculate the amount of the stored energy during high strain-rate deformations using atomistic level simulation. The dynamic behavior of materials at high strain-rate deformation are of great interest. At high strain-rates deformations, materials generate heat due to plastic work and the temperature rise can be significant, affecting various properties of the material. It is well known that a small percent of the energy input is stored in the material, and most of input energy is converted into heat. However, microscopic analysis has not been completed without construction of a material model, which can simulate the movement of dislocations and vacancies. A major cause of the temperature rise within materials is traditionally credited to dislocations, vacancies and other defects. In this study, an atomistic material model for FCC such as copper is used to calculate the stored energy.
Environmental pollution is produced by consumption of fossil fuel, therefore alternative fuels is interested for development of new energy resources and reduction of exhaust emissions for air pollution prevention. Biofuels are produced from new vegetable oil and animal fat, may be used as fuel without change of engine structure in diesel engine. In this paper, the test results on specific fuel consumption, combustion characteristics of neat diesel oil and biodiesel blends(10 vol.% biodiesel and 20 vol.% biodiesel) were presented using four stroke, direct injection diesel engine, especially this biodiesel was produced from biodiesel fuel at our laboratory by ourselves. This study showed that specific fuel consumption is increased slightly, on the other hand cylinder pressure, rate of pressure rise, rate of heat release and soot were decreased slightly in the case of biodiesel blends than neat diesel oil.
