Fatigue tests were carried out at high temperature on a Cr-Mo-V steel in order to assess the fatigue life of components used in power plants. The characteristics of high temperature fatigue were divided in terms of cycle-dependent fatigue and time-dependent fatigue, each crack propagation rate was examined with respect to fatigue J-integral range, .DELTA. J$_{f}$and creep J-integral range, .DELTA. J$_{c}$. The fatigue life was evaluated by analysis of J-integral value at the crack tip with a dimensional finite element method. The results obtained from the present study are summarized as follows : The propagation characteristics of high temperature fatigue cracks are determined by .DELTA. J$_{f}$for the PP(tensile plasticity-compressive plasticity deformation) and PC(tensile plasticity - compressive creep deformation) stress waveform types, and by .DELTA. J$_{c}$for the CP(tensile creep- compressive plasticity deformation) stress waveform type. The crack propagation law of high temperature fatigue is obtained by analysis of J-integral value at the crack tip using the finite element method and applied to examine crack propagation behavior. The fatigue life is evaluated using the results of analysis by the finite element method. The predicted life and the actual life are close, within a factor of 2.f 2.f 2.
This paper addresses a viscoplastic constitutive model that allows a consistent way of modeling positive and negative rate sensitivities of flow stress concerned with dynamic strain aging. Based on the concept of continuum mechanics, a phenomenological constitutive model includes the use of a yield surface within the framework of unified viscoplasticity theory. To model negative rate sensitivity, rate-dependent back stress is introduced and flow stress in fully developed inelastic deformation regime is thus decomposed into the plastic contribution of rate independency and the viscous one of rate dependency.
It is difficult to predict material behavior of forming process because the plastic instable flow phenomenon happens in practical forming process I. e. upsetting backward extrusion piercing indentation. In view of the direct relationship between instable material flow and quality defects of the products we should find out their phenomena, In this study we introduced the plastic spin and the kinematic hardening considering the kinematic hardening constitutive equation for rate-dependent material. Also analysis of upset forging is carried out using the rigid plastic FEM with Al7075
The responses of nanocrystalline aluminum powder of different grain sizes, was modeled Using, Khan, Huang, and Liang (KHL) viscoplastic model including hi-linear Hall-Petch type, based on experimental measurements. Correlation of strain-rate-dependent stress responses for different grain sizes were in good agreement with the experimental results.
Numerous experimental investigations on metallic materials and solid polymers have shown that relaxation behavior is nonlinearly dependent on prior strain rate. The stress drops in a constant time interval nonlinearly increase with an increase of prior strain rate. And the relaxed stress associated with the fastest prior strain rate has the smallest stress magnitude at the end of relaxation periods. This paper deals with the performance of three classes of unified constitutive models in predicting the characteristic behaviors of relaxation. The three classes of models are categorized by a rate sensitivity of kinematic hardening rule. The first class uses rate-independent kinematic hardening rule that includes the competing effect of strain hardening and dynamic recovery. In the second class, a stress rate term is incorporated into the rate-independent kinematic hardening rule. The final one uses a rate-dependent format of kinematic hardening rule.
This paper is concerned with the thermo-mechanical behavior including temperature dependent strain-rate sensitivity of steel sheet for an auto-body. In order to identify the temperature dependent strain-rate sensitivity of SPRC35R and SPRC45E, uniaxial tension tests are performed with the variation of the strain-rates from 0.001 /sec to 200 /sec at environmental temperatures varied from $-40^{\circ}C\;to\;200^{\circ}C$. The thermo-mechanical response at the quasi-static state is obtained with the static tensile test and at the intermediate strain-rate is from the high speed tensile test. Experimental results show that the strain-rate sensitivity increases at low temperature. It represents that as the strain-rate increases, the variation of flow stress becomes sensitive on the temperature. The results indicate that the flow stress of SPRC35R is more dependent on the changes of strain-rate and temperature than those of SPRC45E.
Static restoration during hot interrupted deformation of 304 stainless steel was studied in the temperature range from 900 to 1100$^{\circ}C$ under various strain rate of 0.05∼ 5/sec and pass strain of 1/4∼3 times peak strain. The static restoration was dependent on the pass strain, deformation temperature and strain rate. Fractional softening(FS) values increased with increasing strain rate, deformation temperature and pass strain. Recystallization kinetics was well explained by the Avrami equation and the time for 50% recrystallization was evaluated using equation of t0.5=2.01${\times}$10-10$\varepsilon$-.156$\varepsilon$ -0.81Dexp(196.66/RT)
In this paper, time-continuous constitutive equations for strain rate-dependent materials are presented first, among which those for the overstress and the consistency viscoplastic models are considered. By allowing the stress states to be outside the yield surface, the overstress viscoplastic model directly defines the flow rule for viscoplastic strain rate. In comparison, a rate-dependent yield surface is defined in the consistency viscoplastic model, so that the standard Kuhn-Tucker loading/unloading condition still remains true for rate-dependent plasticity. Based on the formulation of the consistency viscoplasticity, a computational elasto-viscoplastic constitutive model is proposed for the short fiber-reinforced fresh cementitious paste for extrusion purpose. The proposed constitutive model adopts the von-Mises yield criterion, the associated flow rule and nonlinear strain rate-hardening law. It is found that the predicted flow stresses of the extrudable fresh cementitious paste agree well with experimental results. The rate-form constitutive equations are then integrated into an incremental formulation, which is implemented into a numerical framework based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element code. Then, a series of upsetting and ram extrusion processes are simulated. It is found that the predicted forming load-time data are in good agreement with experimental results, suggesting that the proposed constitutive model could describe the elasto-viscoplastic behavior of the short fiber-reinforced extrudable fresh cementitious paste.
The formability of DP steels can be affected by not only initial texture but also deformation texture evolved during plastic deformation. To investigate the evolution of deformation texture during deep drawing, deep drawing process for DP steels was carried out experimentally. A rate sensitive polycrystal model was used to predict texture evolution during deep drawing process. In order to evaluate the strain path during deep drawing, a steady state was assumed in the flange part of deep drawn cup. A rate sensitive polycrystal model successfully predicted the texture development in DP steels during deep drawing process. It was found that the final stable orientations were strongly dependent on the initial location in the blank.
Based on combined continuum-fracture mechanics, fracture criterion was utilized to predict impact performance of advanced high-strength steel sheets: 340R and TWIP940. The macro-crack propagation behavior at high stress triaxiality was characterized by V-notch tests while deformation behavior at high strain rate was characterized by simple tension tests with various cross head speeds. The characterized mechanical properties were incorporated into the FE program ABAQUS/Explicit to simulate the charpy impact tests, which showed good agreement with experiments.
