Effect of Substrate on GaN Growth

  • GaN films were grown on three differently oriented sapphire substates; (0001), (11-20), and (1-20). GaN films on the (0001) and (11-20) substates have a haxagonal structure and their growth rate was 0.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$/hr in both case. The film on the (1-102) substrate was too thin to identify its crystalline state. Growth rate was about the half of the others. Substrate orientation is one of the factor determining growth rate. The adhesion between GaN film and alumina substrate seems to be very good judging from the fractography.

  • 구리-아민류착물에 의한 과산화수소의 초기분해속도를 pH7.3~11.8 범위에서 측정하였다. 과산화수소의 분해속도는 pH에 따라 증가하였다가 감소하였다. 이들 실험결과에 일치하는 가능한 메카니즘이 제안되었다. 이 메카니즘은 과산화수소와 구리-아민류착물의 탈양성첨가를 거친 다음에 속도 결정단계에서 퍼옥소구리착물이 생성되는 반응과정과 일치한다.

  • Products are assumed to be spoiled and not recoverable when the raw material below the prescribed weight level is charged in the mold. The raw material is autoscaled and their weight is normally distributed with a given variance. This paper describes an appropriate stochastic model of determining the optimum weight allowance and the associated defective rate for auto scale system. The optimum weight allowance and the defective rate which minimizes the total loss of defective and the excess weight allowance is obtained. A numerical example for the existing rubber company is also presented and evaluated.

Determination of spalling strength of rock by incident waveform

  • An experimental technique for determining the spalling strength of rock-like materials under a high strain rate is developed. It is observed that the spalling strength of a specimen can be determined by only knowing the wavelength, loading peak value and length of the first spallation of an incident wave under a specific loading waveform. Using this method in combination with a split-Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) and other experimental devices, the spalling strength of granite specimens under a high strain rate is tested. Comparisons with other experimental results show that the new measuring method can accurately calculate the dynamic tensile strength of rock materials under a high strain rate.

  • This study is focused on the modeling of two phase fluid flow system in the electrode of hydrogen gas generator. The characteristics of hydrogen gas generation was studied in view of efficiency of hydrogen gas generation rate and a tendency of gas flow through the riv of electrode. Since the flow rate of generated gas is the most crucial in determining the efficiency of hydrogen gas generator, we adopted the commercial analytical program of COMSOL $Multiphysics^{TM}$ to calculate the theoretical flow rate of hydrogen gas from the outlet of gas generator.

  • 페나실 치환 벤젠술포네이트류와 피리딘의 반응속도를 아세토니트릴과 메탄올 용매속에서 각각 35, 45, 그리고 $55^{\circ}C$에서 전기전도도법으로 측정하였다. 이탈기 내의 치환기 효과는 치환기의 전자끌기 능력이 클수록 반응이 빨라지므로써 이탈기의 이탈 능력이 반응속도에 직접 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 양성자성 용매인 메탄올과 비양성자성 용매인 아세토니트릴에서의 반응을 비교한 결과 수소결합을 통한 특성 용매화가 작용되고 있음을 알수 있었다. 그러므로 이 반응에서 피리딘이 기질의 카르보닐기에 속도 결정 단계로 첨가되는 메카니즘을 배제시킬수 있었다

막여과지에 대한 이트륨-90의 흡착 반응속도에 관한 연구 (Adsorption Kinetics of Carrier-Free Yttrium-90 on Membrane Filters)

  • The adsorption kinetics on a membrane filter have been studied by an introduction of acid or alkali in yttrium-90 solution. The change of the adsorption in the filtration process was determined by the filtrate activities with using a microsyringe filter holder connected with a syringe. The over all reaction rate obeyed a reversible first order reaction, and the rate constants thus obtained, showed the values of $k_1$ = 0.12 $sec^{-1}$ and $k_1'$ = 0.039 $sec^{-1}$. As a result of the present studies, it would be reasonable that the rate determining step of the adsorption reaction was the hydrolysis reaction of the adsorbed yttrium ions.

  • Improving validity and reliability is the important components of clinical laboratory tests. And the quality control of the test should be started with the accurate collection of specimen. Urinalysis is one of the useful and common tests in diseases diagnosis and determining the process of medical treatment. Since urinalysis is requested routinely in hospital setting, the importance of the quality control for urine specimen is often ignored. To improve the validity of urinalysis, a clinical trial was done on the method of collecting urine specimen. The result was as follows : 1. The rate of presumtive UTI(urinary tract infection) was decreased in 21.6% with experiment method for collecting urine specimen. 2. The rate of presumtive UTI in female patients was decreased in 43.2% with the experiment method. 3. The rate of negative urine culture was decreased in 6.6% with the experiment method.

  • Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) has been widely accepted for the global planarization of multi-layer structures in semiconductor manufacturing. However, it still has various problems to the CMP equipment, in particular, among the CMP components, process variables are very important parameters in determining the removal rate and non-uniformity. Using a design of experiment (DOE) approach, this study was performed investigating the interaction between the various parameters such as turntable and head speed, down force and back pressure during CMP. Using statistical analysis techniques, a better understanding of the interaction behavior between the various parameters and the effect on removal rate, no-uniformity and ETC (edge to center) is achieved.

  • In this paper, we proposed a modofied genetic algorithm to minimize misclassification rate for determining the codebook. Genetic algorithms are adaptive methods which may be used solve search and optimization problems based on the genetic processes of biological organisms. But they generally require a large amount of computation efforts. GAVQ can choose the optimal individuals by genetic operators. The position of individuals are optimized to improve the recognition rate. The technical properties of this study is that prevents us from the local minimum problem, which is not avoidable by conventional VQ algorithms. We compared the simulation result with Matlab using phoneme data. The simulation results show that the recognition rate from GAVQ is improved by comparing the conventional VQ algorithms.
