Being latecomers to the industrialization, Pacific rim countries except the U.S.A. are doing very little in developing the universal certification system. One should note that Asian Pacific region enjoys the highest economic growth rate, and there is a good possibility that it will be the center of economic activities of the world in the next century. It appears that ISO and CEN share similar specifications in numerous areas. ASNT is being changed to cope with the trend with the introduction of ACCP. Although we may have to adopt the new system someday, we should pay attention and make concerted effort to include our own practice in the global standards. We are the countries in the Far East Region with similar culture and tradition, which are quite different from those of western countries. We hope that Japan should play an important role in this matter, who has been chaired the ISO TC135 since 1993. In the beginning of this decade, there has been a trivial but troublesome matter that who is representing the NDT Society or member countries in Asia-Pacific Conference on NDT. The problem appears to be solved since the establishment of FENDT For the next decade, actually next centry, FENDT will have to accomplish another important role for countries in the Far East Region to form a strong coalition for its survival in the western dominant world. Immediate issue is to establish Far East Working Group for Harmonization and Mutual Recognition of Qualification and Certification of NDT Personnel. To realize this Japan must play a leading role with the cooperation of expanded FENDT member countries including China and Russia. As the continued prosperity expected in this region, FENDT should continue its role for the next centry. We, the FENDT countries, must move forward for internationalization(國際化). However' we must realize that it all start from SELF IDENTI-FICATION. We can identify ourselves by actively participating in FENDT. I would like remind you the concluding remark that I have made in the congratulatory speech at JSNDI 40th Anniversary Conference and FENDT'92. JSNDI is too precious to be Japan's sole possession Staling from the Far East, JSNDI shall become one of the loaders of the world. I sincerely hope that JSNDI take initiatives and leaderships in the future activities. of FENDT countries. I would like to close my talk with "We must hang together, or We shall be hang seperately." We conducted this study to identify factors that influence college students' willingness to perform CPR. The subjects of the study were 229 college students from J City and D City. A URL was distributed to those who agreed to the study and a non-face-to-face survey was conducted using a questionnaire form. The research results were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0. 155 out of 229 people (67.7%) responded that they would perform CPR if they found a patient suffering from cardiac arrest. Factors that differences between the CPR performing group and the non-performing group include gender, grade, experience of practice, number of CPR training, period of last CPR training, Have a CPR certification, and knowledge of CPR, Confidence of CPR. There was a statistically significant difference(p<0.05). Factors affecting the willingness to perform CPR include those who have actual experience of CPR, those who have CPR certification, and the higher their confidence in CPR, the higher the willingness to perform CPR. Accordingly, in order to increase confidence in CPR, we emphasize the importance of realistic performance experience and propose the development and application of various educational methods to increase the implementation rate through sufficient simulation learning.
This work developed a hood and filter for antibacterial protective clothing for medical powered air purifying respirators (PAPR) that can be used in medical settings and quarantine against infectious diseases such as Zika virus, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19). The hood material of the protective clothing was made of polypropylene spunlace nonwoven fabric (SFS) was used for withstand wind pressure and external physcial pressure. Forthermore, in order to reduce the user's risk of infection, phytoncide-based materials were used on the outer-surface of the hood to achieve a 99.9% antibacterial effect, and the inner-surface were treated with hydro-philic materials to improve absorbency by 25%. In addition to evaluating the artificial blood penetration resistance, dry mi-croorganism penetration resistance, wet bacteria penetration resistance, and bacteriophage penetration resistance required for medical protective clothing hoods, it received a passing evaluation of levels 2-6. Meanwhile, as a result of evaluating the performance of the antibacterial treated spunlace high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter, excellent antibacterial properties, dust removal rate, and differential pressure effect were confirmed. All performance evaluations were conducted by an accredited certification body in accordance with the medical PAPR certification standards.
Mega-corporations are emerging as a result of M&As (mergers and acquisitions) in the logistics industry. The global logistics market has progressed in a continuously competitive manner. Global logistics corporations provide integrated set of services, from production to disposal in order to manage the process efficiently throughout the diverse regions of the world. To advance into an total integrated logistics provider, the corporation must have professional knowledge in logistics and information technology which are necessary to deliver effective integrated logistics solutions. The government has integrated the logistics corporations both horizontally and vertically with the aim to foster logistics corporations possessing global competitiveness. Six years have passed since the implementation of the comprehensive (total) logistics industry certification system in pursuit of making Korea the hub for the Northeast Asian logistics market. This study compares and analyzes the efficiency of nine mega integrated logistics providers by applying the CCR model and BCC model. Each of the nine corporations is subject to certification as integrated logistics corporations. In Korea, nine corporations are certified individually as integrated logistics corporations out of the 31 logistics providers. The analysis showed that the Glovis was the most efficient integrated logistics provider reaching 100% in efficiency and displayed the highest efficiency for six consecutive years from 2005 to 2010. The study also found that the Glovis will be able to maintain 100% in efficiency rate, even though the input are increased over six times as many as those of 2010.
This study develops an indicator to manage regional variations of approval rates for long-term care (LTC) service. We used LTC insurance data for grade assessment that include 433,155 applicants from 227 LTC centers across Korea in 2015. The approval rate for each center was defined as the proportion of the numbers of approved applicants out of all applicants. We assumed that the approval rates depended on the characteristics of applicants. We estimated the 'standard' approval rates from a multiple linear regression analysis using the characteristics of applicants as independent variables. The difference between the observed and the standard rates was then defined as an indicator for deviation. A center having a large difference could be considered as a center with a potential error in grade assessment. We also examined if the characteristics of investigators affected the approval rates. We found that the socio-demographic characteristics of applicants and reapplication rate for LTC grade were independent factors affecting the approval rates. Centers having the management indicator values falling outside the middle 95% of the distribution were identified as centers with an error in grading. We expect that this study will contribute to enhancing reliability and equity in LTC grading.

Throughout this research course, we have analyzed the financial situation of more than 2,700 companies using credit evaluation disclosures from 2017 to 2019. The population was gathered based on the certification of Ppuri companies and Ppuri Expertise companies through the Korea National Ppuri Industry Center, accompanied by the NICE credit evaluation index. For the first time in Korea, we wanted to look at growth, profitability, and stability through financial analysis of the Ppuri industry. Through an indepth analysis, we identified operating income (rate), net income (rate), asset size, and debt ratio, along with three years of Ppuri company workers and total sales fluctuations, and looked at the financial structure per capita. In addition, financial status per person was compared by dividing Ppuri companies into six groups by employee size. Groups were 10 or fewer people, 11 to 20 people, 21 to 50 people, 51 to 200 people, 201-300 people, and 300 or more people; single individual companies were excluded for research convenience. Overall, the financial situation of Ppuri companies was judged to be in a very bad downturn, and financial indicators deteriorated over the course of the three years of investigation. In particular, the smaller the number of employees, the greater the financial fluctuations were and the worse the situations were. Among Ppuri companies, the casting industry, which is the technical starting point for the value chain of the industry, was found to also be in a very bad state, with continued workforce declines, total assets and sales reductions at severe levels, and operating income (rate) and net income (rate) also very poor. This is why we need a suitable and feasible policy direction, something that is difficult but must be allowed to develop.
The Bayesian network (BN) model was applied to analyze the characteristic variables that affect compliance with safety inspections of farmed eel during the production stage, using the data from 30,063 cases of eel aquafarm safety inspection in the Integrated Food Safety Information Network (IFSIN) from 2012 to 2021. The dataset for establishing the BN model included 77 non-conforming cases. Relevant HACCP data, geographic information about the aquafarms, and environmental data were collected and mapped to the IFSIN data to derive explanatory variables for nonconformity. Aquafarm HACCP certification, detection history of harmful substances during the last 5 y, history of nonconformity during the last 5 y, and the suitability of the aquatic environment as determined by the levels of total coliform bacteria and total organic carbon were selected as the explanatory variables. The highest achievable eel aquafarm noncompliance rate by manipulating the derived explanatory variables was 24.5%, which was 94 times higher than the overall farmed eel noncompliance rate reported in IFSIN between 2017 and 2021. The established BN model was validated using the IFSIN eel aquafarm inspection results conducted between January and August 2022. The noncompliance rate in the validation set was 0.22% (15 nonconformances out of 6,785 cases). The precision of BN model prediction was 0.1579, which was 71.4 times higher than the non-compliance rate of the validation set.

Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the trend of tuberculosis mortality rate by years and by areas. Methods: We calculated raw and age-adjusted mortality rate of tuberculosis from 1995 to 2002. The calculation was based on the data from resident registration data and death certification registration data gathered by 232 basic local authority. We used direct age standardization method for calculating age-adjusted mortality rate. We compared patterns of change in tuberculosis mortality rate of metropolitan areas, cities, and countryside by determinating the comparability of medels to explore linear relationship. We also analyzed the data of mortality rate between urban and rural area by comparing ANOVA and post-hoc by two periods: one from 1995 to 1998, and the other from 1999 to 2002. Results: In national mortality rate, both raw and age-adjusted mortality rate showed negative linear relationship. However, the graph become more horizontal: the slope line is close to zero. From 1995 to 1998, countryside showed significantly higher age-adjusted mortality rate than in metropolitan areas and cities. Ever after considering more horizontal graph in national mortality rate, the data shows that the countryside still have significantly higher mortality rate from 1999 to 2002. In model diagnostic checking, metropolitan areas and cities showed apparently linear pattern on the decrease of age-adjusted mortality rate. Pattern of mortality rate in countryside was decreased initially, but became flat. Conclusions: Further research is necessary to explore the characteristics of quality of tuberculosis control program in rural area. Different approach and strategies should be considered to decrease tuberculosis mortality rate in rural areas.
In the past, hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection was endemic in the general Korean population. The association of HBV infection with the occurrence of liver cancer has been well demonstrated in several epidemiologic studies. While the mortality rates of liver cancer in Korea have decreased steadily over the last decade, the presence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in mothers remains high at 3-4%, and 25.5% of these HBsAg positive mothers are positive for hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). HBV infection caused almost a quarter of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases and one-third of deaths from HCC. These aspects of HBV infection prompted the Korean government to create a vaccination program against HBV in the early 1980s. In 1995, the Communicable Disease Prevention Act (CDPA) was reformed, and the government increased the number of HBV vaccines in the National Immunization Program (NIP), driving the vaccination rate up to 95%. In 2000, the National Health Insurance Act (NHIA) was enacted, which provided increased resources for the prevention of perinatal HBV infection. Then in 2002, the Korean government, in conjunction with the Korean Medical Association (KMA), launched an HBV perinatal transmission prevention program. The prevalence of HBsAg in children had been high (4-5%) in the early 1980s, but had dropped to below 1% in 1995, and finally reached 0.2% in 2006 after the NIP had been implemented. After the success of the NIP, Korea finally obtained its first certification of achievement from the Western Pacific Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WPRO-WHO) for reaching its goal for HBV control. An age-period-cohort analysis showed a significant reduction in the liver cancer mortality rate in children and adolescents after the NIP had been implemented. In addition to its vaccination efforts, Korea launched the National Cancer Screening Program (NCSP) for 5 leading sites of cancer, including the liver, in 1999. As a consequence of this program, the 5-year liver cancer survival rate increased from 13.2% (1996-2000) to 23.3% (2003-2008). The development of both the primary and secondary prevention for liver cancer including HBV immunization and cancer screening has been of critical importance.

An apartment complex is a building use with great potential to contribute to solving problems related to urban ecological environment and climate change. The first goal of this study is to grasp the current situation of application and limitations of the ecological area rate, which is a representative evaluation index used to evaluate the environmental performance of the external space of an apartment complex in Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design (G-SEED). The second goal is to propose a prototype of the evaluation index for evaluating greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction performance in order to supplement the evaluation index for the environmental performance of the external space in terms of response to climate change. We analyzed 43 cases of apartment complexes certified according to G-SEED, which was enforced since July 1, 2010, and found application characteristics of each space type and the limitations of ecological area rate. We analyzed overseas green building certification systems such as LEED and BREEAM that derived implications for supplementing the limitations of ecological area rate, which is focused on the evaluation of soil and water circulation function, and set up a development direction of complementary measures. Through analysis of previous studies, relevant regulations and standards, and technical documents of the manufacturer, the heat island mitigation performance of the pavement and roof surfaces of the apartment complex and the carbon uptake performance of the trees in the apartment complex was selected as parameters to yield the GHG reduction performance of the external space of the apartment complex. Finally, a quantitative evaluation method for each parameter and a prototype of the evaluation index for the GHG reduction performance were proposed. As a result of applying the prototype to an apartment complex case, the possibility of adoption and applicability as an evaluation index of G-SEED were proved.
