This study is to establish the Incheon Metropolitan City Arboretum Development Plan (IMADP) as a capacity building both for plant diversity conservation and nature friendly leisure activity areas of Incheon Metropolitan City, Korea. The arboretum planning area is located within territory of the Incheon Grand Park Based on the IMADP, the arboretum was divided into three display spaces; the Urban Greening Garden, the Rare and Endangered Plant Species Garden and the Theme Garden. Detailed planting guidelines were suggested according to the three garden areas. The Urban Greening Garden was designed to display the following three; the relevance techniques, the model, and the practical uses of plants that are regarded to an urban greening. The Rare and Endangered Plant Species Garden (REPSG) was planned for the collection and display of the rare and endangered native plants in the territories of Incheon and the island seashore. Also, the REPSG includes the education purposes of comparing and displaying taxonomically related plant species. The Theme Garden was projected for the collection and display of plant species that have long been familiar to Korean culture and which are also used in our daily life.

This study was carried out to provide the basic information for efficient protection management of natural recreation forest in addition to providing ecological information by analysing the vascular plants in Ohdosan natural recreation forest, and conducted from September 2016 to June 2017. This study showed that the area had a total 295 taxa including 86 families, 192 genuses, 255 species, 3 subspecies, 32 variants 6 forms and the ratio of genus/family was 1.5. Korea endemic plants were 10 taxa including Aconitum austrokoreense and A. pseudolaeve. Rare plants designated by Korea Forest Service were 6 taxa including Aconitum austrokoreense and Goodyera schlechtendaliana. The floristic regional indicators plants found in this survey area were 30 taxa comprising 5 taxa of grade IV, 6 taxa of grade III, 7 taxa of gradeII and 11 taxa of gradeI. Based on the list approved for delivering overseas of plants, 42 taxa were recorded in the surveyed area. The target plants adaptable to climate change were 4 taxa such as Abies koreana, Acotinum austrokoreense and so forth. The naturalized plants were 11 taxa including Cerastium glomeratum, Oenothera biennis and so forth.
The flora of Deokjeok Island was investigated 35 times from September 2007 to September 2008. Based on voucher specimens, the study indicated that this area consisted of 535 taxa in total; 108 families, 320 genera, 480 species, 2 subspecies, 45 varieties and 8 forms were present. Compositae and Graminae were the first and second most common families surveyed in the region, respectively. Among the more remarkable examples found were four taxa of Korean endemic plants, six taxa of rare and endangered plants designated by National Arboretum, and 55 taxa of specific plants that have been designated by the Ministry of Environment. Furthermore, 50 taxa of naturalized plants were observed and they occupied 17.9% of the total in the surveyed area. Although some parts of the investigated region were disturbed by human impact, the ecological status was comparatively well preserved. However, the area where the remarkable plants were discovered should be more systematically protected. Since the proportion of naturalized plants in the human habitation area was considerably high and the spreading of these plants seems consistent, it is expected that the ecosystem of this area may become critically unstable in near future.
This study was carried out to clarify the distribution of vascular plants and their usefulness at Gallasan of Andong-si in Gyeongbuk (596.2 m, N $36^{\circ}29'396"{\sim}36^{\circ}29'356"$, E $128^{\circ}43'841"{\sim}128^{\circ}45'799"$). The vascular plants collected 13 times (April 2006 to August 2009) were consisted of total 424 taxa; 92 families, 273 genera, 365 species, 2 subspecies, 47 varieties and 10 forms. Among them, edible, medicinal, industrial, ornamental and unknown of usefulness plants were 239 taxa, 291 taxa, 109 taxa, 135 taxa, 24 taxa, respectively. Korean endemic plants of this area were 9 taxa, and Law-protected plants by Ministry of Environment were 2 taxa, and the special plants species based on floral region by Ministry of Environment were 7 taxa in grade III category, 1 taxa in grade IV category, 5 taxa in grade V category, rare plants were 1 taxon in critically endangered (CR), 3 taxa endangered species (EN), 2 taxa vulnerable (VU), the naturalized plants were 23 taxa.
The natural habitats and distribution of five rare plants were recently discovered in Korea. Salomonia oblongifolia DC., which grows in mountain wetlands, was found in Gijang-gun, Busan, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, and Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do. Glaux maritima var. obtusifolia Fernald, which grows along the coast, was found in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Buk-gu, Ulsan. Tillaea aquatica L. and Limosella aquatica L., which was previously not known to be present in Korea, were discovered in Gijang-gun, Busan for the first time. Apocynum lancifolium Russanov, which has a narrow distribution range in Korea, was also found in Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, Jung-gu, Incheon, Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do.
As one of the botanical hot spots of the Korean peninsula, the vascular plant species in the areas of Taebaeksan, Hambaeksan, Geumdaebong(Peak) and Maebongsan were summarized as 694 taxa, 89 families, 302 genus, 579 species. 102 varieties and 13 forms. Based on the list of rare and endangered plants from the Forest Research Institute and the Ministry of Environment, 22 species were recorded in the studied areas: Thuja koraiensis(Cupressaceae), Arisaema heterophyllum(Araceae), Disporum ovale(Liliaceae), Tricyrtis dialata(Liliaceae), Lilium distichum(Liliaceae), Anemone koraiensis(Ranunculaceae), Rodgersia podophylla(Saxifragaceae), Rosa marretii(Rosaceae), Viola diamantica(Violaceae), Viola albida(Violaceae), Echinopanax horridum(Araliaceae), Acanthopanax chiisannensis(Araliaceae), Lysimachia coreana(Prinmulaceae), Syringa velutina var. kamibayashii, Halenia corniculata(Gentianaceae), Partrinia saniculaefolia(Valerianaceae), Adenophora grandiflora(Campanulaceae), Cacalia pseudo-taimingasa(Compositae) Iris odaesanensis(Iridaceae), Leontice microrhyncha(Berberidaceae), Rpdgersia tabularis(Saxifragaceae), and Acanthopanax sentico년(Araliaceae), Among them the four species were recorded from the list of the Ministry of Environment. As most of the species were recorded from the mountain-trails, the long-term habitat monitoring for the species is required .
