합성수지의 고속 절삭을 이용한 쾌속조형 시스템 (Development of Rapid Prototyping System using High Speed Machining of Plastics)

  • In order to reduce the lead-time and cost, many useful methods have been applied to rapid prototyping (RP) in recent years. But cutting process is still considered as one of the effective RP methods that have been developed and currently available in the industry. It also offers practical advantages in aspects of precision and versatility. However, traditional 3-axis NC machining has some inherent limitations such as the restriction of tool accessibility and the complex setup. In this work, a new rapid prototyping system with high speed 5-axis machining of plastics has been developed to overcome those limitations. And cutting experiments were conducted to determine the design factors of the system and the cutting conditions of plastics. The architecture of developed system is described in detail and the successful application examples are presented.

Development of a Platform for Realistic Garment Drape Simulation

  • An integrated platform for garment drape simulation system has been developed. In this system, garment patterns from conventional two-dimensional CAD systems can be assembled into a three-dimensional garment on a parametrically resizable realistic human body model. A fast and robust particle-based physical calculation engine has been developed for garment shape generation. Then a series of geometric and graphical techniques were applied to create realistic impressions on simulated garments. This system can be used as the rapid prototyping tool for garments in the future quick-response system.

  • Funtional metal prototypes are often required in numerous industrial applications. These components are typically needed in the early stage of a project to determine form, fit and function. Recent R/P(Rapid Prototyping) part are made of soft materials such as plastics, wax, paper, these master models cannot be employed durable test in real harsh working environment. Parts by direct metal rapid tooling method, such as laser sintering, by now are hard to get net shape, pores of the green parts of powder casting method must be infiltrated to get proper strength as tool, and new type of 3D direct tooling system combining fabrication welding arc and cutting process is reported by song etc. But a system which can build directly 3D parts of high performance functional material as metal part would need long period of system development, massive investment and other serious obstacles, such as patent. In this paper, through the rapid tooling process as silicon rubber molding using R/P master model, and fabricate wax pattern in that silicon rubber mold using vacuum casting method, then we tranlsated the wax patterns to numerous metal prototypes by new investment casting process combined conventional investment casting with rapid pototyping & rapid tooling process. with this wax-injection-mold-free investment casting, we developed new investment casting process of fabricating numerous functional metal prototypes from one master model, combined 3-D CAD, R/P and conventional investment casting and tried to expect net shape measuring total dimension shrinkage from R/P part to metal part.

  • In this research an induction motor vector control system was developed using Simulink and RTW(Real Time Workshop). On the Simulink window, control system is designed in the form of block diagrams, program codes are produced automatically with the RTW, then c compiler compiles the program codes. With this automatic real time program producing mechanism rapid prototyping is realized without the time-consuming manual program coding procedures.   • The design and implementation of an engine control system has become an important area in developing a new car, but the implementation of an engine control system is becoming a tedious and time-consuming work as the level of complexity increases. In order to shorten the development cycle of the control system, rapid control prototyping (RCP) technique deserves developers' attention. A new RCP platform has been developed for an automotive engine control application. This prototyping system strictly adheres to the layered architecture of the final production ECU, and separates the automatically generated part of software, or the application area, from the hand coded area, which generally carefully designed and tested because of the hardware dependency and the efficiency of microcontroller. The $Matlab{\circledR}$ tool-chain of Mathworks Inc. has been selected as a base environment in this study. A newly developed Engine Control Toolbox of Real-Time $Workshop{\circledR}$ converts a graphically represented control algorithm into optimized application codes and links them with other parts of the software to generate executable code for the target processor.

  • The PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) system is a new transportation system in accordance with the requirements of the passengers. Although this PRT system was proposed a long time ago, it did not hold the limelight due to the several limitations in technology. However, the research and development has been active again recently thanks to the development in technology and the review on its applicability as the means of transportation linking to the urban transit system. Although most of these recent studies in relation to the PRT are focused on the hardware such as PRT vehicles or track structures, etc., the operational aspect of it is more important than that of any other means of public transportation. Therefore, among studies on operational aspect of this PRT system, this paper shows the result of study on technology in relation to the movement of vehicle to the station where it was called by the passenger through interface of the wayside control center with the vehicle control system in case where the passenger calls a vehicle at the station.

공작기계 주축 시스템의 해석 자동화를 위한 툴 개발 (Development of a Tool for Automation of Analysis of a Spindle System of Machine Tools)

  • In this research, a tool was developed for the rapid performance of three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA) of a machine tool spindle system made of a shaft and bearings. It runs the FEA with data, such as the bearing stiffness and the coordinates of the points, to define the section of the shaft, bearing positions, and cutting point. developed for the spindle system and then implemented with the tool using an object-oriented programing technique that allows the use of the objects of the CAD system used in this research. Graphic user interfaces were designed for a user to interact with the tool. It provides rapid evaluation of the design of a spindle system, and therefore, it would be helpful to identify a near optimal design of a spindle system based on, say, static stiffness with design changes and, consequently, FEA.

  • 제품 개발 초기부터 3차원 CAD를 이용하여 설계를 하고 쾌속조형기를 이용하여 시제품을 제작한 후 이를 이용하여 제품의 성능시험을 하는 새로운 개발공정을 제시하였다. 이 공정을 방향기 개발에 적용함으로써 기존의 시작금형을 이용한 공정보다 제품의 개발기간과 개발비용을 획기적으로 절감할 수 있었다. 또한 설계단계부터 3차원 CAD를 이용함으로써 제품개발의 시행착오 횟수를 크게 줄일 수 있었다.

  • The Injection molding is used more than 70% of total production in plastic products. The injection molding process has 4 processes such as filling, packing, cooling and ejecting. now then, cooling process spends the most of times in Injection molding cycle time. Therefore, it is important to control the mold temperature in producing plastic products. The cooling system and time affect the product's quality and productivity. Especially, cooling time has about 60% of total injection cycle time. Therefore, we can improve a productivity by shortening cooling time. In this study, the rapid cooling system was developed and performed a efficiency test. This system could refrigerate coolant to $1^{\circ}C$ and had to need 10 minutes for normal operating.

  • Nowadays, becoming wide area is going on over Seoul Metropolitan area. But urban railway, very important traffic facilities, is operated in normal operating position and it gives cause to week the function of commuting long distance. This paper is focus on studying the feasibility of rapid operation system in Seoul Metropolitan area through comparing the present state of urban railway in Seoul Metropolitan area with a case of the advanced facilities in developed country. And we develop rapid operation system in general aspect through only consideration of operation planning without improvement of facilities. Also, we come up with new concept of rapid operation system through investigation of limits of the preceding researches
