열처리 공정에서 가열 영역에 따른 평기어의 열변형 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Deformation Simulation of Spur Gear According to the Heat Zones in Heat Treatment Process)

  • In order to improve fatigue life of transmission gear carburizing is normally used. Carburizing is a very good process to achieve low cost and high performance. The machined gears are heated up to carburizing temperature and then cooled rapidly in an oil bath to produce high surface hardness. The gears may undergo excessive thermal distortion during heating and rapid cooling. In order to predict the distortion during heating and rapid cooling, a coupled thermo-mechanical simulation is needed. In the current research, the simulation of heating and cooling was performed. The results show that the thermal distortion and the residual stresses are well predicted by the coupled simulation. In addition, induction heating and rapid cooling simulation is carried out to predict the thermal distortion. The amount of distortion is compared. It is shown that induction heating is very effective to reduce thermal distortion.

Performance Comparison of Liquid-Cooling with Air-Cooling Heat Exchangers Designed for Telecommunication Equipment

  • Electronic and telecommunication industries are constantly striving towards miniaturization of electronic devices. Miniaturization of chips creates extra space on PCBs that can be populated with additional components, which decreases the heat transfer surface area and generates very high heat flux. Even though an air-cooling technology for telecommunication equipment has been developed in accordance with rapid growth in electrical industry, it is confronted with the limitation of cooling capacity due to the rapid increase of heat density. In this study, liquid-cooling heat exchangers were designed and tested by varying geometry and operating conditions. In addition, air-cooling heat exchangers were tested to provide performance data for the comparison with the liquid-cooling heat exchangers. The liquid-cooling heat exchangers had twelve rectangular channels with different flow paths of 1, 2, and 12. Silicon rubber heaters were used to control the heat load to the heat exchangers. Heat input ranged from 293 to 800W, and inlet temperatures of working fluid varied from 15 to $27^{\circ}C$. The heat transfer coefficients were strongly affected by flow conditions. All liquid-cooling heat exchangers showed higher cooling performance than the air-cooling heat exchanger. The heat exchanger with 2-paths could provide more controllability on the maximum temperature than the others.

  • 최근 건설산업에서는 천연 골재 고갈과 엄격한 환경 규제로 인하여 골재 부족 현상이 지속되고 있기 때문에 대체 골재 개발이 시급한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존 전로슬래그 처리방식의 문제점을 해결하기 위한 새로운 처리방식 즉, 고온 용융슬래그를 회전식 드럼내에 투입한 다음 냉각수, 압축공기 및 강철구를 이용하여 급속 냉각, 파쇄 처리하는 공정에서 발생되는 습식 급랭 전로슬래그를 콘크리트용 잔골재로 활용하기 위하여 기초물성을 검토하였다. 또한 본 연구를 통하여 콘크리트용 잔골재로써 습식 급랭 전로슬래그의 활용 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

  • An Experimental investigation was carried out to examine the heat transfer characteristics of rapid cooling process by Twin-Roll. The experimental results were compared with numerical solutions. The measured temperature showed the about 3 % difference to the calculated results. But the cooling rate estimated by the microstructure interpretation method has much difference to the calculated results.

  • Al-Li alloy has a high strength with low density. Practically this alloy should use by the material which made from the rapid solidification. Therefore we examine the solidification structures of alloy with cooling rate. According to cooling rate increased, grain size and secondary dendrite arm spacing were smaller. Also grain size was further smaller by Zr added. To obtain more fine solidification structure, rapid solidification by single roll melt spinning was performed. According to higher wheel speed, cooling rate increased and cell size was smaller. Because of locally different cooling rate, different cell size was obtained in same specimen. More than cooling rate $10^6^{\circ}C$ /sec, zone A(insensible zone to corrosion)was obtained.
