생물환원 철광물촉매에 의한 지하수 내 RDX 환원:군사격장 현장적용 실증결과 (Reduction of RDX in Ground Water by Bio-Regenerated Iron Mineral: Results of Field Verification Test at a Miliary Shooting Range)

  • This study investigates the in-situ implementation of bio-regenerated iron mineral catalyst to remove explosive compounds in ground water at a military shooting range in operation. A bio-regenerated iron mineral catalyst was synthesized using lepidocrocite (iron-bearing soil mineral), iron-reducing bacteria Shewanella putrefaciens CN32, and electron mediator (riboflavin) in the culture medium. This catalyst was then injected periodically in the ground to build a redox active zone acting like permeable reactive barrier through injection wells constructed at a live fire military shooting range. Ground water and core soils were sampled periodically for analysis of explosive compounds, mainly RDX and its metabolites, along with toxicity analysis and REDOX potential measurement. Results suggested that a redox active zone was formed in the subsurface in which contaminated ground water flows through. Concentration of RDX as well as toxicity (% inhibition) of ground water decreased in the downstream compared to those in the upstream while concentration of RDX reduction products increased in the downstream.

  • Operating excitation forces of the linear vibratory system are normally determined by direct measurement techniques using load cells, strain gauges, etc. But, hydraulic forces of the rotating turbomachinery such as centrifugal pumps are exerted on an impeller due to asymmety of the flow by the interaction between pump impeller and volute. So, investigations of wide range of hydraulic designs and geometric deviations are difficult by direct method. This paper presents a hybrid approach for fourier transformed operational excitation forces, which uses pseudo-inverse matrix of the transfer matrix for the system and the measured vibrational data with standard installed pump. The determination of the transfer function matrix is based on a linear rotor/stationary system and steady state harmonic response in finite element analysis. And, vibrational data is collected in both vertical and horizontal directions at inboard and outboard bearing housings. The results of the process may be enhanced by making acceleration measurements at many more locations than there are forces to be determined.

무지외반증에서 생체흡수성 나사못으로 고정한 변형 마우 절골술의 결과 (Results of Modified Mau Osteotomy Fixed with Bioabsorbable Screws in Hallux Valgus)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical results of application of bioabsorbable screws in hallux valgus surgery using modified Mau osteotomy. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of 25 patients. Operations were performed between May 2013 and January 2014. We performed 33 modified Mau osteotomies and fixed using bioabsorbable screws. Mean age of patients was 52 years (range 19 to 71). Mean follow up duration was 13.2 months (range 12.3 to 18.9). The clinical evaluations included pain visual analogue scale (VAS) score, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score, and satisfaction score. Weight bearing anteroposterior radiographs were taken for measurement of hallux valgus angle (HVA), intermetatarsal angle (IMA), and distal metatarsal articular angle (DMAA). All radiographs were evaluated in order to detect complications related to bioabsorbable screws such as osteolysis, cyst formation, and fixation failure. Results: The mean pre- and postoperative pain VAS scores were 4.0 and 1.7 (p<0.05). The mean AOFAS score improved from 52.6 to 82.8 (p<0.05). Preoperative HVA and IMA were 31.2 and 13.9, respectively. Postoperative HVA and IMA were 5.2 and 6.2 (p<0.05). The DMAA increased from 7.8 to 9.9 (p<0.05). There was one case of superficial wound infection and one loss of correction, and no case of osteolysis, cystic formation around the screw, or deep infection. All patients showed union without fixation failure. Conclusion: The clinical and radiological evaluation of this study demonstrates reliable results without fixation failure or allergic reaction. The use of bioabsorbable screw appears not to be inferior to metal screw fixation in hallux valgus surgery.

Wii Balance Board를 이용한 Sit-to-Stand와 보행기능 측정의 검사-재검사 신뢰도 (Test-retest Reliability of Sit-to-Stand and Gait Assessment Using the Wii Balance Board)

  • Background: Assessments of Sit-to-Stand (STS) and gait functions are essential procedures in evaluating level of independence for the patients after stroke. In a previous study, we developed the software to analyze center of pressure (COP) in standing position on Wii Balance Board (WBB). Objects: This purpose of this study is to measure test-retest reliability of ground reaction forces, COP and time using WBB on STS and gait in healthy adults. Methods: Fifteen healthy participants performed three trials of STS and gait on WBB. The time (s), vertical peak (%) and COP path-length (cm) were measured on both tasks. Additionally, counter (%), different peak (%), symmetry ratio, COP x-range and COP y-range were analyzed on STS, 1st peak (%), 2nd peak (%) of weight were analyzed on gait. Intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), standard error measurement (SEM) and smallest real difference (SRD) were analyzed for test-retest reliability. Results: ICC of all variables except COP path-length appeared to .676~.946 on STS, and to .723~.901 on gait. SEM and SRD of all variables excepting COP path-length appeared .227~8.886, .033~24.575 on STS. SEM and SRD excepting COP path-length appeared about .019~3.933, .054~11.879 on gait. Conclusion: WBB is not only cheaper than force plate, but also easier to use clinically. WBB is considered as an adequate equipment for measuring changes of weight bearing during balance, STS and gait test which are normally used for functional assessment in patients with neurological problems and elderly. The further study is needed concurrent validity on neurological patients, elderly patients using force plate and WBB.

  • 협동교전능력을 위한 표적정보 수집, 실시간 정보융합, 공동 상황인식 기능 구현을 위하여 표적 처리기법 연구는 중요하다. 이러한 표적 처리 연구 중, 표적의 추적의 문제는 센서로부터 얻어진 측정값을 사용하여 표적의 상태를 예측하는 것으로부터 시작한다. 그러나 상태 예측에 사용되는 센서의 측정값들은 불확실성을 갖고 있기 때문에 측정된 정보에 어느 정도의 신뢰성을 부여할 수 있느냐가 중요한 문제가 된다. 따라서 이를 위해 다중 센서를 이용한 기법이 요구되고, 보편적으로 사용되는 확률적 데이터연관 기법으로부터 다중 센서를 이용한 표적 추적을 위해서는 이종 센서로부터 제공된 측정값들을 처리하기 위한 정보융합 기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 레이더 및 ESM 센서에서 측정된 측정값 정보융합을 통하여 확률데이터연관 필터를 이용한 표적의 트랙 추정 성능을 향상시키기 위한 방법을 구체적으로 분석하여 정보를 결합하기 위한 새로운 실시간측정값 융합 기법을 제안하고 확률데이터연관을 통해 추적할 표적의 트랙을 추정하는 방법을 분석하였다. 모의실험을 통해 제안된 기법들이 선형 혹은 회전 운동하는 모델들에 대해 향상된 추정 결과를 보여준다.

외측 발목 염좌 병력에 따른 정적 하지 정렬 차이: 외측 발목 염좌의 예측인자로서 정적 하지 정렬 검사의 효용성과 한계점 (Differences in Static Lower Extremity Alignment according to the History of Lateral Ankle Sprain: Efficacy and Limitation of Static Lower Limb Alignment Measurement as a Predictor of Lateral Ankle Sprain)

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate 1) the difference in static lower extremity alignment (SLEA) according to a history of lateral ankle sprain (LAS), 2) to identify SLEA factors affecting LAS, and 3) to present the cut-off value and 4) the usefulness and limitations of the SLEA measurement. Method: This case-control study recruited 88 men (age: 27.78±4.69 yrs) and 39 women (age: 24.62±4.20 yrs) subjects with and without LAS. SLEA measurement protocol included Q angle, tibiofemoral angle, genu recurvatum, rear foot (RF) angle, tibal varum and torsion, navicular drop, ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (DF ROM). Independent t-test, logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used for statistical analysis. Results: Men with a history of LAS had significantly smaller Q angles both in standing and in supine position, while women with a history of LAS had significantly greater DF ROM in non-weight bearing (NWB; p < 0.05). Logistic regression model suggests tibial varum (OR = 0.779, p = 0.021) and WB DF ROM (OR = 1.067, p = 0.045) were associated with LAS in men. In case of women, there were no significant SLEA factors for LAS, however, ROC curve analysis revealed standing RF angle (AUC = 0.647, p = 0.028) and NWB DF ROM (AUC = 0.648, p = 0.026) could be affecting factors for LAS. Conclusion: There are differences in SLEA according to the history of LAS, furthermore, the identified items were different by sex. In case of men, tibial varum and WB DF ROM affect LAS occurrence. Standing RF angle and NWB DF ROM of women could be a predictor for LAS. However, since the sensitivity and specificity in most of the SLEA measurements are low, kinematic in dynamic tasks should be considered together for a more accurate evaluation of LAS risk.

Cr 첨가가 고망간강의 중성 수용액 환경 내 유동가속부식 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Cr Addition to High Mn Steel on Flow-Accelerated Corrosion Behaviors in Neutral Aqueous Environments)

  • The effect of Cr addition to high Mn steel on flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC) behavior in a neutral aqueous environment was evaluated. For comparison, two types of conventional ferritic steels (API X70 steel and 9% Ni steel) were used. A range of experiments (electrochemical polarization and impedance tests, weight loss measurement, and metallographic observation of corrosion scale) were conducted. This study showed that high Mn steel with 3% Cr exhibited the highest resistance to FAC presumably due to the formation of a bi-layer scale structure composed of an inner Cr enriched Fe oxide and an outer Mn substituted partially with Fe oxide on the surface. Although the high Mn steels had the lowest corrosion resistance at the initial corrosion stage due to rapid dissolution kinetics of Mn elements on their surface, the kinetics of inner scale (i.e. Cr enriched Fe oxide) formation on Cr-bearing high Mn steel was faster in dynamic flowing condition compared to stagnant condition. On the other hand, the corrosion scales formed on API X70 and 9% Ni steels did not provide sufficient anti-corrosion function during the prolonged exposure to dynamic flowing conditions.

홈트레이닝 시 발목 부상 예방을 위한 EMS 양말 효과 - 20대 후반 남성을 중심으로 - (EMS socks for Preventing Ankle Injuries during Home Training -Focusing on Men in Their Late 20s-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using socks combined with EMS on ankle pain reduction and ankle function improvement in home training participants. In this study, the conductive fabric was combined using socks that can properly compress the ankle. First, VAS was measured during EMS training after fatigue was induced and compared with fatigue during rest. It was confirmed that the level of VAS after EMS training was lower than after rest and fatigue. It was also confirmed that EMS training, which combines EMS with socks, was effective in reducing pain. The experimental action is a measurement action of WBLT and lying posture, and the situation before and after EMS training was compared by performing 30 minutes on the treadmill to cause delayed muscle pain during exercise. As a result of this study, it was found that pain reduction and ROM function were improved when electrical stimulation was performed using EMS socks. It was also confirmed that the application of electrical stimulation to EMS socks effected on ankle fatigue and function improvement. From the study results, it is expected that wearing socks equipped with EMS significantly reduces ankle injuries and improves functional recovery for home training participants.

난소전위술을 시행한 가임기 여성의 자궁경부암 방사선치료 시 난소선량 감소를 위한 HalcyonTM Fast kV CBCT의 유용성 평가 : Phantom study (Evaluation of HalcyonTM Fast kV CBCT effectiveness in radiation therapy in cervical cancer patients of childbearing age who performed ovarian transposition)

  • 목 적: 본 연구는 난소전위술을 시행한 가임기 여성의 자궁경부암 방사선치료 시 HalcyonTM Fast kV CBCT를 사용하였을 때 난소에 미치는 흡수선량과 영상의 품질을 분석하여 유용성을 평가하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법: 인체모형 팬텀(Alderson Rando Phantom, USA)의 전산화단층촬영 영상에 측정에 필요한 자궁경부와 난소의 윤곽묘사(contouring)를 하였고, 해당 장기 단면에 광자극발광선량계(Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dosimeter, OSLD, InLight system, Landauer, USA)를 각각 3개씩 부착하였다. TruebeamTM의 Pelvis mode(이하 TP)와 HalcyonTM의 Pelvis mode(이하 HP) 그리고 HalcyonTM의 Pelvis Fast mode(이하 HPF)에서 자궁경부와 난소에 들어가는 흡수선량을 측정하기 위해 촬영 범위를 17.5 cm와 12.5 cm로 촬영 범위를 축소한 영상을 촬영하였다. 총 10회의 누적선량을 합산하였고, 자궁경부암 치료 횟수인 23회의 값으로 치환하여 비교하였다. 또한 영상 장비 간의 CBCT 영상 품질을 비교하기 위해 Catphan 504 팬텀(The Phantom Laboratory, USA)을 이용하여 균일도(Uniformity), 저 대조도 가시(Low contrast visibility, LCV), 공간분해능(Spatial resolution), 기하학적 왜곡(Geometric Distortion)을 비교 분석하였다. 각각 3회 반복 측정하여 Doselab (Versions: 6.8, Mobius Medical Systems) 프로그램으로 분석 후 평균값을 구하였다. 결 과: CBCT에 의한 흡수선량을 OSLD로 측정한 결과 동일한 조건일 시 TP와 HP는 유의미한 결과를 얻지 못하였다. 가장 큰 감소 값을 보인 모드는 TP 대비 HPF였다. HPF는 17.5 cm의 촬영 범위에서 흡수선량이 TP보다 자궁경부가 약 39.82%, 난소에서 약 19.8% 감소 하였고, 12.5 cm 으로 촬영 범위를 축소할 경우 자궁경부는 34.2%, 난소 50.5%로 감소 시킬 수 있었다. 또한 위 실험에서 사용된 영상의 품질을 평가한 결과 Geometric Distortion 1mm 이내(SBRT 기준), Uniformity HU, LCV 2.0% 이내 Spatial Resolution 3 lp/mm 이상으로 장비사의 기준치를 준수하였다. 결 론: 본 실혐 결과에 따라 난소전위술을 시행한 가임기 여성의 방사선치료 시 CBCT로 인한 피폭선량을 낮추기 위해서는 TruebeamTM 보다 다양한 조건을 선택 할 수 있는 HalcyonTM이 유용할 것으로 평가 되며, 특히 낮은 mAs로도 영상의 품질을 유지하는 HalcyonTM의 Fast kV CBCT를 권장한다. 다만 다른 치료 장비에서도 난소전위를 시행한 환자는 촬영 범위를 조정하는 것으로 저선량에 대한 추가적인 피폭 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
