It was found that surface roughness has a first-order effect on the interface shear strength and accordingly it should be accurately quantified if its role is to be properly understood. To quantify the surface topography, first of all, a variety of commonly used surface roughness parameters and profiling methods were reviewed in this study. Based on this review, the normalized roughness parameter. $R_n$(Uesugi and Kishida, 1986), the profile roughness parameter, $R_L$, and the surface roughness parameter, $R_n$(Dove and Frost, 1996), were selected to be appropriate candidates of roughness parameters and the digital image analysis based Optical Profile Microscopy(OPM) method(Dove and Frost, 1996) to be an appropriate profiling method for this study. Using a smooth and three textured HDPE geomembranes which encompass the range of textures and texture patterns commonly used, a series of roughness measurements on virgin and previously used geomembranes were performed. The results showed that both $R_L\; and\; R_S$ values appropriately reflect the degree of texturing for the geomembranes used in this study, however, $R_n$ value showed limited ranges of variation which may not be sufficient to permit distinction between roughness values for certain conditions. The results of this study will be extended to the investigation of the influence of surface roughness on interface strength in future study.
A non-invasive respiratory gated radiotherapy system like those based on external anatomic motion gives better comfortableness to patients than invasive system on treatment. However, higher correlation between the external and internal anatomic motion is required to increase the effectiveness of non-invasive respiratory gated radiotherapy. Both of invasive and non-invasive methods need to track the internal anatomy with the higher precision and rapid response. Especially, the non-invasive method has more difficulty to track the target position successively because of using only image processing. So we developed the system to track the motion for a non-invasive respiratory gated system to accurately find the dynamic position of internal structures such as the diaphragm and tumor. The respiratory organ motion tracking apparatus consists of an image capture board, a fluoroscopy system and a processing computer. After the image board grabs the motion of internal anatomy through the fluoroscopy system, the computer acquires the organ motion tracking data by image processing without any additional physical markers. The patients breathe freely without any forced breath control and coaching, when this experiment was performed. The developed pattern-recognition software could extract the target motion signal in real-time from the acquired fluoroscopic images. The range of mean deviations between the real and acquired target positions was measured for some sample structures in an anatomical model phantom. The mean and max deviation between the real and acquired positions were less than 1mm and 2mm respectively with the standardized movement using a moving stage and an anatomical model phantom. Under the real human body, the mean and maximum distance of the peak to trough was measured 23.5mm and 55.1mm respectively for 13 patients' diaphragm motion. The acquired respiration profile showed that human expiration period was longer than the inspiration period. The above results could be applied to respiratory-gated radiotherapy.

In gravure printing ink in printed flexible packaging considering the characteristics of the study more accurate color management options and results were as follows. When applying G7 calibration, P2P of the target GRACol G7 evaluate the delta $L^*$ and delta $F^*$, CMY and K-scale average of the results of delta $L^*$ and the highest tolerance G7 average of 1.5 and 3.0 are included in all the best. In addition, the average delta $F^*$ and super delta $F^*$, G7 tolerance by being included within the scope of color management, G7 calibration was possible. Target IT 8.7/4 CMYK, when applied to the calibration G7, Color gravure printing machine is applied to the average of the previous decreased from 12.4 to 3.6. In addition, if a digital proof is EPSON WT 7900 the average color applied to the previous reduction from 5.24 to 0.74 because of the gravure printing color proofing system was effective in the management. G7 calibration by applying the reference print profile of the Epson WT 7900-G-icc, the average was 0.74 coloration, and gravure-G-icc cases, the average color of the 3.60 per GRACol average of all the five colors below were included within the allowable range. Thus, the flexible packaging gravure printing color management of printed after applying the first G7 calibration, the results refer to the press by the profiling, and where best to take advantage of the profile creation was good.
This paper deals with an experimental study on the dynamic behaviour of rubber oil seals when the interferences between the shaft and the seal lip as well as the dynamic eccentricities are present. The micro-separation of the sealing gap was observed with the aid of an image processing apparatus. The temperature of the seal lip edge, friction torque and the dynamic sealing gap profile are experimentally investigated for the initial interference and the shaft eccentricity. The data was simultaneously measured under the operation conditions. Experimental results show that, as the shaft speed is increased, the leakage of sealed fluids is increasing for a certain range of shaft speeds. The test data indicates that the shaft eccentricity clearly produces the gap separation between the shaft and the seal lip which is unable to follow the radial displacement of shaft as the shaft speed increases.

This paper is the forth investigation on the evaluation methods of flow characteristics in a steady flow bench. In the previous works, it was concluded that the assumption of the solid rotation might cause serious problems and both of the eccentricity and the velocity profile distort the flow characteristics when using the ISM at 1.75B plane. Also particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurement at this position showed that the real velocity profile was far from the assumption of ISM evaluation. In this paper, the planar velocity profiles were measure from 1.75B to 6.00B position by PIV and the characteristics were examined according to the valve angles and lifts for further investigations about the effect of the position on the velocity profile. The results show that $26^{\circ}$ valve angle is always an unique exceptional case in all aspects. If the valve angle is $21^{\circ}$ and below, the planar velocity profiles according to the lift and the position are similar to each other, however, the tangential velocity curves along with the radial direction have common tendencies up to $16^{\circ}$ angle. Also the well arranged swirl behaviors are generally observed at the position above 3.00B and the velocity contour lines come closer to the concentric circle as the valve lift increases. In addition, the gradient of tangential velocity along with the radial direction from the swirl center becomes stable and constant as the position goes downstream. Concurrently the velocity gradient is larger to the eccentric direction of the center. In the meantime the tangential velocity curves along with the radial direction are irregular and various at 1.75B, however, they become regular and reach higher level as the evaluation position goes downstream. At this time the curves of 4.50B are the best fitted to the ideal one. On the other hand in an exceptional case, $26^{\circ}$, the velocity contours are very complicated over 6mm valve lift regardless the position and the gradient increases to the opposite direction of the eccentric center. Also, 6.00B is a best fitting position in the geometrical cylinder center base. With respect to the swirl center, the distribution range of centers for 1.75B is different to that for the other positions and the eccentricities of this plane are larger regardless the valve angle. After 1.75B, there is no certain tendency in the center position change according to the valve angle and lift. Additionally, the eccentricities are not sufficiently small to neglecting the effect on ISM measurement.

The main objective of the present study is to investigate the roles of the micro-dimpled surface on the drag reduction. To investigate the effectiveness of the micro-dimpled surface, the flat plates are prepared. The micro-size dimples are directly carved on the metal surface by ultrasonic nano-crystal surface modification (UNSM) method. Momentum of the main flow is increased by the dimple patterns within the turbulent boundary layer (TBL), however, there is no significant change in the turbulence intensity in the TBL. The influence of dimple patterns is examined through the flow field survey near the flat plate trailing edge in terms of the profile drag. The wake flow velocities in the flat plate are measured by PIV technique. The maximum drag reduction rate is 4.6% at the Reynolds number of $10^6{\sim}10^7$. The dimples tend to increase the drag reduction rate consistently even at high Reynolds number range.

Though the Platycodon grandiflorum, has a broad range of pharmacologic properties, but the mechanisms underlying these effects remain unclear. In order to profile proteins from the nodal segment, callus, root and shoot, high throughput proteome approach was executed in the present study. Two-dimensional gels stained with CBB, a total of 84 differential expressed proteins were confirmed out of 839 protein spots using image analysis by Progenesis SameSpot software. Out of total differential expressed spots, 58 differential expressed protein spots (${\geq}2-fold$) were analyzed using MASCOT search engine according to the similarity of sequences with previously characterized proteins along with the UniProt database. Out of 58 differential expressed protein, 32 protein spots were up-regulated such as ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase, endoplasmic oxidoreductin-1, heat stress transcription factor A3, RNA pseudourine synthase 4, cysteine proteinase, GntR family transcriptional regulator, E3 xyloglucan 6-xylosyltransferase, while 26 differential protein spots were down-regulated such as L-ascorbate oxidase precursor, late embryogenesis abundant protein D-34, putative SCO1 protein, oxygen-evolving enhancer protein 3. However, the frequency distribution of identified proteins using iProClass databases, and assignment by function based on gene ontology revealed that the identified proteins from the explants were mainly associated with the nucleic acid binding (17%), transferase activity (14%) and ion binding (12%). Taken together, the protein profile may provide insight clues for better understanding the characteristics of proteins and its metabolic activities in various explants of this essential medicinal plant P. grandiflorum.

This study presents a close-range photogrammetry that is applicable to beach profile estimation using a non-metric camera. Based on the analysis of oblique video image in which the video camera was installed on a horizontal plane and the field of view was fixed, a new equation to analyze a photograph was developed considering the following aspects: (1) camera is allowed to be rotated about its optical axis and (2) a simple error model is adopted to correct lens distortion and other systematic errors associated with the non-metric camera, which improves accuracy of non-metric imageries. To test the modified technique, photographs of the beach were taken near the Donghae City in February, 1998. In addition, beach profiles were surveyed with conventional dumpy level and surveying staff. RMS error between the estimated and measured beach profiles is less than 10 cm in elevation.

This paper is the fifth investigation on the methods of evaluating flow characteristics in a steady flow bench. In previous studies, several assumptions used in the steady flow bench were examined and it was concluded that the assumption of the solid rotation may lead to serious problems. In addition, though the velocity profiles were improved as the measuring position went downstream, the distributions were far from ideal regardless of the valve angle and evaluation position. The eccentricities were also not sufficiently small to disregard the effect on impulse swirl meter (ISM) measurement. Therefore, the effect of these distribution and eccentricity changes according to the positions needs to be analyzed to discuss the method of flow characteristics estimation. In this context, the effects of evaluation position on the steady flow characteristics were studied. For this purpose, the swirl coefficient and swirl ratio were assessed and compared via measurement of the conventional ISM and calculation based on the velocity by particle image velocimetry(PIV) from 1.75B, 1.75 times bore position apart from the cylinder head, to the 6.00B position. The results show that the swirl coefficients by ISM strictly decrease and the curves as a function of the valve lift become smooth and linear as the measuring position goes downstream. However, the values through the calculation based on the PIV are higher at the farther position due to the approach of the tangential velocity profile to ideal. In addition, there exists an offset effect between the velocity distribution and eccentricity in the low valve lift range when the coefficients are estimated based on the swirl center. Finally, the curve of the swirl ratio by ISM and by PIV evaluation as a function the measuring position intersect around 5.00B plane except at $26^{\circ}$ valve angle.
