Low Cost Omnidirectional 2D Distance Sensor for Indoor Floor Mapping Applications

  • Modern distance sensing methods employ various measurement principles, including triangulation, time-of-flight, confocal, interferometric and frequency comb. Among them, the triangulation method, with a laser light source and an image sensor, is widely used in low-cost applications. We developed an omnidirectional two-dimensional (2D) distance sensor based on the triangulation principle for indoor floor mapping applications. The sensor has a range of 150-1500 mm with a relative resolution better than 4% over the range and 1% at 1 meter distance. It rotationally scans a compact one-dimensional (1D) distance sensor, composed of a near infrared (NIR) laser diode, a folding mirror, an imaging lens, and an image detector. We designed the sensor layout and configuration to satisfy the required measurement range and resolution, selecting easily available components in a special effort to reduce cost. We built a prototype and tested it with seven representative indoor wall specimens (white wallpaper, gray wallpaper, black wallpaper, furniture wood, black leather, brown leather, and white plastic) in a typical indoor illuminated condition, 200 lux, on a floor under ceiling mounted fluorescent lamps. We confirmed the proposed sensor provided reliable distance reading of all the specimens over the required measurement range (150-1500 mm) with a measurement resolution of 4% overall and 1% at 1 meter, regardless of illumination conditions.

  • A vision sensor measure range data using laser light source, This sensor generally use patterned laser which shaped single line. But this vision sensor cannot satisfy new trend which needs faster and more precise processing. The sensor's sampling rate increases as reduced image processing time. However, the sampling rate can not over 30fps, because a camera has mechanical sampling limit. If we use multi line laser pattern, we will measure multi range data in one image. In the case of using same sampling rate camera, number of 2D range data profile in one second is directly proportional to laser line's number. For example, the vision sensor using 5 laser lines can sample 150 profiles per second in best condition.

GMI Magnetic Field Sensor Based on a Time-coded Principle

  • A laboratory sensor model was designed, constructed, and tested based on a newly proposed working principle of magnetic field detection. The principle of sensing employed a time-coded method in correlation with exploiting the advantageous features of the GMI effect. The sensor demonstrated a sensitivity of $10\;{\mu}s/{\mu}T$ in the field range of ${\pm}100\;{\mu}T$. The sensing element in the form of an amorphous thin wire, $100\;{\mu}m$ in diameter ${\times}50\;mm$ long, was fit into a small field modulation coil of 60 mm length. At a magnetic field modulation in the range of hundreds of Hz, the change in time interval of two adjacent GMI voltage peaks was linearly related to the external magnetic field to be measured. This mechanism improved the sensor linearity of the GMI sensor to better than 0.2% in the measuring range of ${\pm}100\;{\mu}T$.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서 재난, 환경 모니터링 등에 대한 응용으로써 센서 노드의 지리학적 위치 측정은 매우 중요하다. 이를 위해 무선 센서 네트워크 분야는 Range-free 위치 측정 기법에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행 중이며, 비 균일 네트워크 환경에서 위치 정확도를 향상하기 위한 중심 극한 정리와 정규 분포에 근거한 위치 측정 기법인 밀집 확률 기법이 제안되었다. 밀집 확률 기법의 경우 노드 통신을 통해 거리를 추정 후 최종 위치를 측정하지만 거리 추정 시 주위 인근 모든 노드가 동일한 1-홉 추정 거리를 갖는 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 오차를 최소화하기 위해 각 노드마다 거리 추정 후 센싱 반경을 조절하여 2차 지역 거리 평가를 통해 센서의 위치를 측정하는 기법을 제안한다. 성능평가 결과, 제안하는 기법은 밀집 확률 기법에 비해 9% 더 높은 정확도를 보였다. 또한 대표적인 Range-free 위치 측정 기법인 DV-HOP에 비해 48% 더 우수한 위치 정확도를 보였다.

USN환경에서 효율적인 공간영역질의를 위한 적응형 영역 집계 인덱스 기법 (Adaptive Range Aggregation Index Method for Efficient Spatial Range Query in Ubiquitous Sensor Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크 환경에서의 공간 영역 질의를 효과적으로 처리하는 공간 영역 집계 인덱스 기법을 제안한다. 새로운 정보화 패러다임인 네트워킹과 컨버전스 기반의 유비쿼터스 환경의 중요성이 부각되면서 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크 환경에서의 에너지 효율적인 실시간 공간질의에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 센서 네트워크에서 공간영역질의는 사용자가 지정한 일정한 시간 동안의 특정 지리적 영역의 온도, 습도 등 스칼라 데이터를 감지한다. 공간 질의를 효과적으로 수행하기 위하여 Rectangle 기반의 SPIX기법 등 공간 인덱스 기법들이 많이 진행되었지만 기존 연구에서는 공간 영역질의의 질의 결과 값 전달 경로를 질의 전달 경로의 역방향으로 지정하였다. 센서 네크워크의 공간 영역 질의에서 질의 영역 내의 센서들은 대부분이 인접되어 있지만 질의 전달 경로가 틀리면 질의 영역 내에서 집계되지 못하고 전달되므로 불필요한 에너지를 낭비하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크에서 공간 영역 질의를 수행 할 때 질의 영역 내에서 센서 노드들 간의 통신거리를 고려하여 질의 결과 값 전달 경로를 재선정하고, 적응적으로 집계 영역 내에서 집계연산을 하여 질의 결과 값을 전달하는 인덱스 기법을 제안한다. 성능평가를 통하여 제안 기법이 기존 기법보다 우월함을 보여주었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop socks to check the range of ankle movement during squats for men in their late 20s. Sensors of 6, 8, and 12 mm were selected, and each sample was impregnated 1 to 3 times. It was prepared using a CNT dispersion, and the GF value was measured using UTM. Among them, the sample with 2 impregnation showed the best GF value. As a result of applying each sample to the socks, the 12 mm sensor was wider than the area of the Achilles tendon, resulting in noise, and the 8 mm sensor was higher than the tensile strength of the socks, resulting in a decrease in the graph. Therefore, testing was performed using a 6 mm sensor. In order to determine the effectiveness of the sensor, the normal operating range was checked through squats, and significant changes were confirmed when the operating range was checked again through squats by performing operations that can increase the operating range through Gastrocnemius, Soleus stretching, and low lunge. Using the results of this study, it is expected that the average value of the ankle movement range of the user is checked prevent injury, to be provided as basic data for the production of shoe products and the promotion of physical health.

광전류/광전압 센서의 일체화 설계에 관한 연구 (A study on single body design of optical current sensor and optical voltage sensor)

  • A single body type of fiber-optic current and voltae sensor using a rare earth doped YIG and a bismuth silicon oxide single crystsl is proposed, which is used for simultaneous measurement of the AC electric current and AC electric voltage over the trasmission lines. Experimental results showed that the fiber-optic current sensor has the maximum 7.5% error within the current range of 0A to 400A, and the fiber-optic voltage sensor has the maximum 0.87% error within the current range of 0V to 400V. The output waveforms of proposed fiber-optic sensor system has a good agreement with output waveforms of conductor current and voltage. Experimental results proved that the output of fiber-optic current sensor is not affected by the electric voltage applied to the fiber-optic voltage sensor, and also, that the output of fiber-optic voltage sensor is not affected by the electric current applied to the fiber-optic current sensor.

파이프 내부검사를 위한 이동로봇의 유도방법 (Guidance of Mobile Robot for Inspection of Pipe)

  • The purpose of this paper is the development of guidance algorithm for a mobile robot which is used to acquire the position and state information of the pipe defects such as crack, damage and through hole. The data used for the algorithm is the range data obtained by the range sensor which is based on an optical triangulation method. The sensor, which consists of a laser slit beam and a CCD camera, measures the 3D profile of the pipe's inner surface. After setting the range sensor on the robot, the robot is put into a pipe. While the camera and the LSB sensor part is rotated about the robot axis, a laser slit beam (LSB) is projected onto the inner surface of the pipe and a CCD camera captures the image. From the images the range data is obtained with respect to the sensor coordinate through a series of image processing and applying the sensor matrix. After the data is transformed into the robot coordinate, the position and orientation of the robot should be obtained in order to guide the robot. In addition, analyzing the data, 3D shape of the pipe is constructed and the numerical data for the defects of the pipe can be found. These data will be used for pipe maintenance and service.

  • These days, citizens have a lot of ways to get access to IT. In the past, they tended to neglect IT that was thought to be difficult. But, currently, everyone can manufacture and get access not only software but also hardware when he has an idea. Arduino is used. Rinnai had recently released new product named Smart Sensor Range. Safe consumer who gave priority to the safety made new trend gave attention to fire prevention and smart sensor range. The ones who buy gas range prefer safety to economic advantage and/or fire power. The safety system does not always prevent fire accident. This study makes design and produces alarm that perceives temperature of pot when boiling. Not only temperature sensor but also alarm sensor was used to make alarm of boiling water and to give convenient living life. The arduino can be used at practical life to make products for various kinds of people. The invention can give convenience to housewives at kitchen, children and many persons making use of gas range. Another function can be added to develop. This arduino can develop a lot of products by using the study and other designs.

지진계 저주파수 잡음의 ARMA 모델링 및 칼만필터를 이용한 지진계 동적범위 향상 방법 (A Method to Enhance Dynamic Range for Seismic Sensor Using ARMA Modelling of Low Frequency Noise and Kalman Filtering)

  • 본 연구에서는 지진계 센서의 동적범위를 향상시키는 새로운 방법을 제안하였다. 먼저, 센서에 포함된 저주파수 대역 잡음을 ARMA(Auto Regresive Moving Average) 모델로 모델링하고 시스템 식별 방법으로 그 모델을 식별한다. 다음으로, 모델링된 잡음과 지진파 입력을 칼만필터 식에 포함하여 칼만필터에 의한 지진파입력을 추정한다. 제안한 방법을 새로이 개발된 MEMS 기반 3축 가속도 형태의 지진계에 적용하여 성능을 검증하였다. 시험 결과는 제안한 방법이 단순한 LPF(Low Pass Filter)를 사용한 경우에 비해 동적범위를 개선시킴을 보여준다.
