  • This study presents a simple approach for the assembly of a free-standing conductive electronic nanofilm of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) suitable for enzymatic electrochemical biosensors. A large-scale SWNT electronic film was successfully produced by the dialysis of p-Terphenyl-4,4''-dithiol (TPDT)-treated SWNTs. Furthermore, Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was immobilized on the TPDT-SWNT electronic film, and the enzymatic detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was demonstrated without mediators. The detection of H2O2 in the negative potential range (-0.4 V vs. Ag/AgCl) was achieved by direct electron transfer of heme-based enzymes that were immobilized on the TPDT-SWNT electronic film. The SWNT-based biosensor exhibited a wide detection range of H2O2 from 10 µM to 10 mM. The HRP-doped SWNT electronic film achieved a high sensitivity of 342 ㎛A/mM·cm2 and excellent selectivity against a variety of redox-active interfering substances, such as ascorbic acid, uric acid, and acetaminophen.

  • Wavefront-coding imaging can achieve high-quality imaging along with a wide range of defocus. In this paper, the anti-laser detection and damage performance of wavefront-coding imaging systems using different asymmetric phase masks are studied, through modeling and simulation. Based on FresnelKirchhoff diffraction theory, the laser-propagation model of the wavefront-coding imaging system is established. The model uses defocus distance rather than wave aberration to characterize the degree of defocus of an imaging system. Then, based on a given defocus range, an optimization method based on Fisher information is used to determine the optimal phase-mask parameters. Finally, the anti-laser detection and damage performance of asymmetric phase masks at different defocus distances and propagation distances are simulated and analyzed. When studying the influence of defocus distance, compared to conventional imaging, the maximum single-pixel receiving power and echo-detection receiving power of asymmetric phase masks are reduced by about one and two orders of magnitude respectively. When exploring the influence of propagation distance, the maximum single-pixel receiving power of asymmetric phase masks decreases by about one order of magnitude and remains stable, and the echodetection receiving power gradually decreases with increasing propagation distance, until it approaches zero.

  • For the precise measurements of special nuclear materials (SNM) including Pu and Am isotopes, we have used phoswich detector combination of two single crystal scintillators of Gd3Ga3Al2O12:Ce and CsI:Tl. High detection efficiency and sensitivity along with high figure of merit for the discrimination of these phoswich detectors ensures the detection and discrimination of thermal neutrons and gammas from spontaneous fission of Pu and other isotopes in presence of high gamma background. Using this detector, the low energy gammas, which is stopped completely in 1mm thick disc of GGAG, can be also discriminated from high energies gamma and shows linearity in wide range of sample quantities. By changing only the appropriate shielding, the similar setup was used for thermal neutron detection and shows a very good linearity over wide range. The quantity of a test sample was also calculated accurately by using the measured calibrated plot.

  • When an active SONAR works in the subsurface. its detection Performance is limited by the reverberation. The winds Play a primary role in the Production of bubbles in the ocean. And the bubbles as efficient scatters contribute to the reverberant field. In this Paper the effects of wind-generated bubbles on sound propagation in the subsurface are investigated as a mid-frequency Hull-mounted SONAR works. The active signal excess is calculated at source depths 3. 5. and 10m considering bubble layer for frequencies 5. 7.5, and 10kHz. The change of the near-surface sound speed tend to increase surface reverberation levels and change the active signal excess. In the 10m/s winds. the maximum detection range reduces over 3km through the near-surface . The reason is the upper refraction due to the wind-generated bubbles.

  • Range walk has been a major problem in achieving correct Doppler processing. This frequently occurs when range variation is severe just like in a bistatic radar or in high speed target scenario. This paper presents a range walk compensated range-Doppler processing algorithm applicable to the bistatic radar. In order for the compensation, a range-domain interpolation is applied for range compressed signal so that Doppler processing is performed along the evenly time-spaced range bins that contain target returns. Under a bistatic radar scenario, the proposed algorithm including a range domain pulse compression is mathematically described. Finally, the validity of the algorithm is demonstrated by simulation results showing the superiority of a SCDP(Squint Cross-range Doppler Processing) over an uncompensated Doppler processing.

  • In this paper, it was performed the analysis on various intersection acoustic patterns for detection rate improvement of accident sound detection system : an acoustic pattern analysis on general traffic noise, an acoustic pattern analysis on engine noise, an acoustic pattern analysis on obstruct factors for accident sound detection system. There are remarkable differences between the acoustic patterns of traffic noise and accident sound, and we most consider the acoustic patterns when we compose the accident traffic detection system by acoustic because there is error range of 20[dB] according to the volume of traffic in intersection.

  • An optical rotary encoder is easy to implement for automation system applications. In particular, the output of the encoder has a digital form pulse, which is also easy to be connected to a popular digital controller. By using an incremental encoder and a counting device, it is easy to measure angular displacement, as the number of the output pulses is proportional to the rotational displacement. This method can only detect the angular placement once a pulse signal comes out of the encoder. The angular displacement detection period is strongly subject to the change of the angular displacement in case of ultimate low velocity range. They have ultimate long detection period or cannot even detect angular displacement at near zero velocity. This paper proposes an algorithm for detecting angular displacement by using a dual encoder system with two encoders of normal resolution. The angular displacement detecting algorithm is able to keep detection period moderately at near zero velocity and even detect constant angular displacement within nominal period. It is useful for motion control applications in case of changing rotational direction at which there occurs zero velocity. In this paper, various experimental results are shown for the angular displacement detection algorithm.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring for high resolution obstacle detection of an autonomous mobile robot. It is assumed that a set of low directivity ultrasonic sensors of the same type are arranged along a circle of nonzero radius at a regular spacing with their beams overlapped. First, taking into account the dead angle region, the entire range of obstacle detection is determined with reference to the center of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring. Second, the optimal design index of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring is defined as the area closeness of three sensing subzones resulting from beam overlap. Third, the lower and upper bounds on the number of ultrasonic sensors are derived, which can guarantee minimal beam overlap and also avoid excessive beam overlap among adjacent ultrasonic sensors. Fourth, employing a commercial low directivity ultrasonic sensor, an optimal design example of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring is given along with the ultrasonic sensor ring prototype mounted on top of a mobile robot. Finally, some experimental results using our prototype ultrasonic sensor ring are given to demonstrate the validity and performance of an optimally overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring for high resolution obstacle detection.

  • The synchronization signal in Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems contains the primary synchronization signal (PSS) and the secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and the overall synchronization performance is dominated by PSS detection. In this paper, we propose a PSS detection scheme employing three partial correlation based PSS detectors with different partial correlation lengths, in which calculated partial correlation values are reused in order to reduce computational complexity. A coherent selection scheme using tentative frequency offsets is also proposed to select one reliable result from outputs of partial correlation based PSS detectors. It is shown through computer simulation that the proposed scheme can have a robust detection performance in wide range of frequency offsets.

  • This paper describes a new algorithm for pixel-based skin color detection to differentiate human form in color images by the ratio of R to H. In order to detect skin color efficiently, we examine the distribution of the R, G and B color elements combining to constitute the skin color in various color images. It shows that R is located in a narrower area than G and B on the RGB color space. And skin color is more related to R than G and B. Meanwhile, when the color image is transformed to the HSI color space, the S is variously changed in accordance with skin colors. The I is changed in accordance with the quantity and angle of light. But the H is less influenced by other conditions except for color. On the basis of the aforementioned study, we propose that the threshold for skin color detection is decided by the ratio of R to H. The proposed method narrows down the range of threshold, detects more skin color and reduces mis-detection of skin color in comparison to detection by R or H. In experimentation. it shows that the proposed algorithm overcomes changes of brightness and color to detect skin color in color images.
