  • Carbon nanotubes (CNT) / polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piezoelectric composite films for nanogenerator devices were fabricated by spray coating method. When the CNT/PVDF mixture solution passes through the spray nozzle with small diameter by the compressed nitrogen gas, electric charges are generated in the liquid by a triboelectric effect. Then randomly distributed ${\beta}$ phase PVDF film could be re-oriented by the electric field resulting from the accumulated electrical charges, and might be resulted in extremely one-directionally aligned ${\beta}$ phase PVDF film without additional electric field for poling. X-ray diffraction patterns were used to investigate crystal structure of the CNT/PVDF composite films. It was confirmed that they revealed extremely large portion of the ${\beta}$ phase PVDF crystalline in the film. Therefore we could obtain the poled CNT/PVDF piezoelectric composite films by the spray coating method without additional poling process.

  • The objective of this work was to optimize processing parameters of hybrid thermoplastic composites in compression molding. The mechanical properties of the composites manufactured with various forming conditions were measured to characterize processing parameters. Polypropylene(PP) composites containing randomly oriented long carbon fiber and carbon black were used in this work. The composite materials contained 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% carbon fiber and 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% carbon black by weight. Compression molding was conducted at various mold temperatures. The temperature of the material in the mid-plain was monitored during the forming. Crystallinity was also measured by using XRD. The tensile modulus of the composites increase, with increasing the mold temperature. However, the impact strength of the composites decreases as mold temperature increases.

  • An analysis on thermal buckling and postbuckling of composite laminated plates reinforced with a low amount of graphene platelets is performed in the current investigation. It is assumed that graphaene platelets are randomly oriented and uniformly dispersed in each layer of the composite media. Elastic properties of the nanocomposite media are obtained by means of the modified Halpin-Tsai approach which takes into account the size effects of the graphene reinforcements. By means of the von $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ type of geometrical nonlinearity, third order shear deformation theory and nonuniform rational B-spline (NURBS) based isogeometric finite element method, the governing equations for the thermal postbuckling of nanocomposite plates in rectangular shape are established. These equations are solved by means of a direct displacement control strategy. Numerical examples are given to study the effects of boundary conditions, weight fraction of graphene platelets and distribution pattern of graphene platelets. It is shown that, with introduction of a small amount of graphene platelets into the matrix of the composite media, the critical buckling temperature of the plate may be enhanced and thermal postbuckling deflection may be alleviated.

  • Glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite materials have considerable promise for increased use in low cost high volum applications because of the potential for processing by solid phase forming. However, the forming characteristics of these materials have not been well known. The primary focus of this research is the investigation of the bendability of these composites and spring-back phenomena in pure bending. The materials tested contained 10, 35, and 40 percent by weight of randomly oriented glass fiber in a polypropylene matrix. The bending tests were performed at temperatures ranging form 75 ".deg. c" to 150 ".deg. c" and at punch speeds of 2.54 mm/sec and 0.0254 mm/sec. The measured bendability and spring back angle in pure bending werw compared with the predictions based on the simple analyical models. Goog agreement between experimental and analytical results was observed.esults was observed.

  • This paper investigates the effectiveness of Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes, SWNT, in improving the dynamic behavior of cracked Aluminium alloy, Al-alloy, beams by using a method based on changes in modal strain energy. Mechanical properties of composite materials are estimated by the Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka method. The influence of SWNT volume fraction, SWNT aspect ratio, crack depth and crack location on the natural frequencies of the damaged 3D randomly oriented SWNT reinforced Al-alloy beams are examined. Results demonstrate the significant advantages of SWNT in reducing the effect of cracks on the natural frequencies of Al-alloy beams.

  • Current paper deals with thermoelastic static and free vibrational behaviors of axisymmetric thick cylinders reinforced with functionally graded (FG) randomly oriented graphene subjected to internal pressure and thermal gradient loads. The heat transfer and mechanical analyses of randomly oriented graphene-reinforced nanocomposite (GRNC) cylinders are facilitated by developing a weak form mesh-free method based on moving least squares (MLS) shape functions. Furthermore, in order to estimate the material properties of GRNC with temperature dependent components, a modified Halpin-Tsai model incorporated with two efficiency parameters is utilized. It is assumed that the distributions of graphene nano-sheets are uniform and FG along the radial direction of nanocomposite cylinders. By comparing with the exact result, the accuracy of the developed method is verified. Also, the convergence of the method is successfully confirmed. Then we investigated the effects of graphene distribution and volume fraction as well as thermo-mechanical boundary conditions on the temperature distribution, static response and natural frequency of the considered FG-GRNC thick cylinders. The results disclosed that graphene distribution has significant effects on the temperature and hoop stress distributions of FG-GRNC cylinders. However, the volume fraction of graphene has stronger effect on the natural frequencies of the considered thick cylinders than its distribution.

Therefore we could obtain the poled CNT/PVDF piezoelectric composite films by the spray coating method without additional poling process. Charge accumulation and resulting electric field generation mechanism by spray coating method were shown in Fig. 1. The capacitance of the CNT/PVDF films increased by adding CNTs into the PVDF matrix, and finally saturated. However, the I-V curves didn't show any saturation effect in the CNT concentration range of 0~4 wt%. Therefore we can control the performance of the devices fabricated from the CNT/PVDF composite film by adjusting the current level resulted from the CNT concentration with the uniform capacitance value.

  • Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), PLLA/hydroxyapatite (HA), PLLA/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)/HA, PLLA/trifluoroethanol (TFE), PLLA/gelatin, and carbon nanofibers (CNFs)/${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP) composite membranes (scaffolds) were fabricated by electrospinning and their morphologies, and mechanical properties were characterized for use in bone tissue regeneration/guided tissue regeneration. MWNTs and HA nanoparticles were well distributed in the membranes and the degradation characteristics were improved. PLLA/MWNTs/HA membranes enhanced the adhesion and proliferation of periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) by 30% and inhibited the adhesion of gingival epithelial cells by 30%. Osteoblast-like MG-63 cells on the randomly fiber oriented PLLA/TEF membrane showed irregular forms, while the cells exhibited shuttle-like shapes on the parallel fiber oriented membrane. Classical supersaturated simulated body fluids were modified by $CO_2$ bubbling and applied to promote the biomineralization of the PLLA/gelatin membrane; this resulted in predictions of bone bonding bioactivity of the substrates. The ${\beta}$-TCP membranes exhibit good biocompatibility, have an effect on PDLC growth comparable to that of pure CNF membrane, and can be applied as scaffolds for bone tissue regeneration.

  • It is essential to understand the creep behavior, which shows how long the characteristics of material maintains because press joined molding GMT-Sheet for recycle is usually used in the severe environment. In this study, we predict joining strength of GMT-Sheet for recycle, when lap length was changed. and we will investigate how compression ratio have an effect on creep behavior in press joined molding. The result of experiment of forming condition concerned with joining problem of GMT-Sheet is as followings joining efficiency. of GMT-Sheet, increases as lap joint length I, increases. Increase of compression ratio causes decrease o f joining efficiency after of GMT-Sheet joining. As the result of creep test, GMT-Sheet is easily damaged in high temperature range, because it is sensitive to the temperature
