  • In the analysis of variance between population and between individual trees (families), the fluctuation of values of variances due to sample size, (number of family) was analysed by two different designs, i.e. 2-level nested design with equal sample size and randomized complete block design. The variables were seedling heights and root calipers of 1-0 and 1-1 seedlings of Pinus densiflora S. et Z. The details of three natural stands and their progeny characters were presented in previous reports. 1. In nested design analysis. increase of sample size resulted the decrease of F-values among families in general, however, the F-values among populations showen the increasing tendency. The smaller the sample size, the larger the F-values fluctuation was resulted in general. At the point of beyond sample size 10, however, the fluctuation become to be stabilized. The F-value fluctuation seemed to be more in the case of analysis with random sampling method than with sequentially accumulated sampling method. And also such a tendency was more obvious in smaller sample size than in large one. 2. In R.C.B.D. analysis, the sample size to affirm the family variation was smaller than that for population variations.

  • The purpose of this study is to seek out the harrow water requirement applicable for the irrigation plan of paddy field and to find out the factors influenced on a variation in the requirement. The plots of experiment were arranged with randomized block design which was compo- sed of three kinds of soil texture (sandy loam, loam and silty loam) and ploughing depth (12cm, 17cm, and 22cm). The results obtained from this experimental study are summarized as follows. 1. Harrow water reguirement is not only changed by soil texture, but influenced by soil water content just before irrigating 2. Magnitude of total harrow water reguirement appli(able for the irrigation plan, when surface water depth and the water content just before irrigating is fixed on the basis of 30 mm and a shrinkage limit respectively, generally becomes to be 177.5mm, 116.3mm and 113. 8mm in the sandy loam, loam amd silty loam block, respectively. 3. The more a percolation of soil layer occurs, the more the harrow water requirement increases, but it is not much influenced by the increase in ploughing depth. 4. The larger a porosity of soil layer is, the more a net harrow requirement increases 5. The factors that influence on a variation in the harrow water requirement are appea- red to be percolation of soil layer, soil water content just before irrigating, porosity of soil layer, ploughing depth and designed surface water depth etc.

  • The diagnostic method was, evaluated in experimentally induced acute renal failure in doges. Ten male dogs weighing from 5 to 10 kg were assigned to two groups(gentamicin & ethylene glycol treated group) al random. Gentamicin sulfate at 10 mg/kg of body weight, t.i.d., for 7 days and ethylene glycol at 3 ml/kg of body weight once used in a randomized complete block design with tee treatments in block. The samples(blood, urine) were collected before and 1,3,5,7,9 and l1th day after administration. The serum creatinine concentration and BUN(blood urea nitrogen) were sig- nificantly increased at the 7th day than before administration in gentamicin treated group (p<0.05), bolt there was significant increase at the 1st day than before administration in ethylene glycol treated group(p<0.05). The urine GGT(gramma glutamyl transpeptidase) and GGT/creatinine were significantly increased at the 1st (lay after administration in gentamicin treated group (p<0.05). But in ethylene glycol treated group, there was no significant changes. The value of FENa (fractional excretion of sodium) was significantly increased at the 3rd day after administration in gentamicin treated group and the 1 st day after administration in ethylene glycol treated group (p<0.05). These results suggest that FENa was a good parameter of renal function in dogs with acute renal failure.

  • A field experiment was conducted in Agronomy farm at an altitude of 1350 m. above sea level in a randomized complete block design with three replications and eight treatments on vegetable type soybean in 2005. The objective was to see the effect of vermicompost alone and in combination with Rhizobium inoculum and mineral fertilizers on the yield of vegetable soybean. The result showed higher number of nodules from the non inoculated plot, however, the nodules weight was highest from the inoculated plots. No significant difference was notice statistically on roots and shoots dry weight. Soybean grain was obtained highest (32.3%) over the non inoculated plot followed by vermicompost plus inoculated, however, there was non significant difference. There was a slight increment on grain and straw yield from the inoculated plots over the non inoculated.

  • To select the highest yield soiling type forage, the yield performance of selected sorghum-sudangrass hybrids imported in 1992 have been evaluated at Chonnam region. The soiling type hybrids used in this experiment were TE-haygrazer, FP-5 Sudan, Sweet sioux V, and X -78050. Three different cuttings were done on July 6, August 6 and September 16 in 1992. This trial was arranged as a randomized complete block design with three replications under taken over a period 5 months from May to September in 1992. The results of this experiment were summarized as follows: The hybrids tested were not significantly different by plant height, leaf blade length, leaf blade width and stem diameter. In the first cutting, dry matter yield of FP-5 Sudan was the highest. In the second and third cutting, dry matter yield of Sweet sioux V was the highest among hybrids. The contents of crude protein, hemicellulose, relative feeding value(RFV), and amino acid were the highest by the first cutting, but NDF and ADF were shown the lowest.

  • This syudy was conducted to increase the utility of forage rye which are suitable to be cultivated at high altitude Taekwllyong area. For that purpose two cultivars of rye (winter-more, kool-glazer) were cultivated for 3years using a randomized block design with 3 replications. The dry matter digestibility (DMD) was evaluated with the pelleted rye hay produced by adding sodium hydroxide and then the TDN value was calculated by the DMD. By adding NaOH, DMD and TDN value of rye pellets (Y=46.92+ 1.8X, ~ 0 . 9 7 )w ere increased significantly (p<0.05) and NDF (neutral detergent fiber) decrease significantly. However, ADF (acid detergent fiber) and lignin did not significantly decrease (p<0.05). Rye could be cultivated as a second crop after com at high altitude area in the same year and pelleted with NaOH in order to increase the nutritive values (p< 0.05). (Key words : Dry matter digestibility (DMD), Forage rye, NDF, ADF, Sodium hydroxide)
