This study was conducted to survey the feeding methods in Seogypo city and south Chejukun area. A random sample for this study a total of 355 mothers having babies under the age of 3 were surveyed. were boys. 45.5% were girls. infants' colostrum intakes in Seogypo sith and south Chejukun area were 69.9% and 63.1% respectability. Nother's education level affected colostrum intakes significantly. Baby's sex birth weight and mother's job affected the infants' feeding methods. The case of girl normal birth weight and mother's employment showed high percentage of bottle feeding. Bottle feeding was higher in Seogypo small city than in south Chejugun the country. Most of reasons for bottle feeding or mixed feeding was the lack of breast milk. The highest percentage of recommenders for breast feeding were baby's mother in Seogypo city area and were baby's grandmother in south Chejugun area. In Seogypo city area mother's education level did not affect the infant's feeding methods but in south Chjukun area mother's education level affected significantly.
Methods of discharging each graded agricultural product are divided into two according to the type of feeding. One is based on feeding objects using a series of specially designed holders mounted with an equal interval. The other is randomly feeding objects while being isolated without a specific interval. In this paper, a real time simultaneous discharge algorithm, which is good for objects randomly fed individually and for multi-objects located along a series of discharge buckets, was developed. And the developed algorithm was implemented to the controller and the performance was verified using the system developed for dried mushrooms. The discharge system used for the experiment was composed of a variable speed conveyor, a series of double channel bucket mounted along both sides of the conveyor, and a series of air nozzles and optic sensors. Developed algorithm worked perfectly and could be directly used for automatic discharge system for randomly feeding agricultural products.
In this study, the immunomodulating effects of levamisole, selenium and tocopherol on blood neutrophils and peritoneal macrophages of goat were evaluated in vitro and in vivo. The functions of blood neutrophils and peritoneal macrophages were assayed by random and direct migration, phagocytosis of S aureus, production of superoxide and hydrogen peroxide. The results obtained were summarized as follows: In vitro trials 1. Levamisole treatment enhanced the random and direct migration of goat blood neutrophils when compared with untreated cell, and a significant (p<0.01) enhancement was noticed at the concentration of $100{\mu}g$ for direct migration and $50{\mu}g{\sim}1,000{\mu}g\;per\;ml$ of culture medium for random migration. There was no influence of selenium and tocopherol on random and direct migration of neutrophil at all of treatment concentration. 2. Neutrophils produced higher levels of superoxide by lcvamisole treatment at the concentration of $100{\mu}g$ and by selenium treatment at the concentration of $1.0{\mu}g$, but the production of hydrogen peroxide was not increased. Tocopherol had no effect on the production of antimicrobicidal oxygen metabolites of neutrophils at various concentrations. 3. No differences of phagocytic activity were observed when neutrophils were treated with three substances. In vivo trials 1. Blood neutrophils of goats orally administered levaraisole showed significantly (p<0.05) higher random migration from 2 to 24 hours after feeding (2.5mg/kg of body weight). Augmentation of random migration of neutrophil from goats orally administered selenium-tocopherol mixture (selenium $100{\mu}g$-tocopherol 200IU/head/day) was observed at 10 days and the significant (p<0.05) increase was shown from 30 days after feeding and continued throughout the feeding periods. 2. There was no effect on phagocytic activity and production of antimicrobicidal oxygen metabolites of neutrophils from goats administered levamisole or selenium-tocopherol mixture. 3. Random migration, production of superoxide and hydrogen peroxide and S aureus phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages of goats administered 300ml of levamisole-thioglycollatc medium mixture $(2.5{\mu}g/ml)$ into peritoneal cavity increased significantly (p<0.01 or p<0.05) when compared with those of goats administered thioglycollate medium alone.

In an optical disk drive, a feeding system which is used to move the optical pick-up system to the target position and the proper control scheme of it are important in random access performance. Since the effect of control is directly affected by the modeling precision of the real system, the precise modeling to the real system should be acquired. Although a simple linear order modeling to the feeding system of an optical disk drive is useful in understanding of the overall dynamic characteristics, the dynamic characteristics which are belongs to the nonlinear area cannot be predicted correctly. Furthermore, the feeding system of an optical disk drive has many nonlinear characteristics such as a nonlinear friction and backlash. For this reason, the understanding of the nonlinear properties in the feeding system is very important. In this paper, the nonlinear items of the feeding system, friction and backlash, are introduced and the effect of it are investigated. Finally, the mathematical model considering the nonlinear properties is compared to the real system, and some comments of it are given.
Objective: This study aimed to validate and evaluate the dry matter (DM) intake prediction model of the Korean feeding standards for dairy cattle (KFSD). Methods: The KFSD DM intake (DMI) model was developed using a database containing the data from the Journal of Dairy Science from 2006 to 2011 (1,065 observations 287 studies). The development (458 observations from 103 studies) and evaluation databases (168 observations from 74 studies) were constructed from the database. The body weight (kg; BW), metabolic BW (BW0.75, MBW), 4% fat-corrected milk (FCM), forage as a percentage of dietary DM, and the dietary content of nutrients (% DM) were chosen as possible explanatory variables. A random coefficient model with the study as a random variable and a linear model without the random effect was used to select model variables and estimate parameters, respectively, during the model development. The best-fit equation was compared to published equations, and sensitivity analysis of the prediction equation was conducted. The KFSD model was also evaluated using in vivo feeding trial data. Results: The KFSD DMI equation is 4.103 (±2.994)+0.112 (±0.022)×MBW+0.284 (±0.020)×FCM-0.119 (±0.028)×neutral detergent fiber (NDF), explaining 47% of the variation in the evaluation dataset with no mean nor slope bias (p>0.05). The root mean square prediction error was 2.70 kg/d, best among the tested equations. The sensitivity analysis showed that the model is the most sensitive to FCM, followed by MBW and NDF. With the in vivo data, the KFSD equation showed slightly higher precision (R2 = 0.39) than the NRC equation (R2 = 0.37), with a mean bias of 1.19 kg and no slope bias (p>0.05). Conclusion: The KFSD DMI model is suitable for predicting the DMI of lactating dairy cows in practical situations in Korea.

Infanthood is a crucial period when mental and emotional developments take place along with physical growth. Adequate supply of nutrition is essential during this period and there is an urgent need for proper education and guidance on balanced nutrition. Therefore, this study was designed to assess to current status of lactation and to investigate mothers' perspectives on human milk and formular milk. As random samples for this study, a total of 352 mothers having infant under the age of 4 were surveyed. 27.3% of mother surveyed were breast-feeding, 38.0% were formula-feeding and 34.7% were mixed-feeding. According to the result of this study, the percentage of breast feeding was on the decrease, while the dependence on formular milk was on the rise. The main reason of formula-feeding was insufficient secretion of human milk on mothers part. The major factors that affect to select feeding method were employment status, degree of education, family income and age. Also, the interviewees desired the product fortified with special ingredients that are hot contained in formular milk currently available in the market. The most concerned problem of formula milk was indigestion and the interviewees wanted the formular milk to be improved digestibility.
DNA polymorphisms were analyzed for 8 clones of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae Sulzer, by random amplified polymorphic DNA-polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR). The insect has different host preferences and was even classified into two different species, M. persicae Sulzer and Myzus nicotinae Blackman by their morphological characters, but this point is still in arguement. To identify the differences between two types of the green peach aphid by RAPD-PCR, the template DNA was extracted from 4 clones each of tobacco-feeding and non-tobacco-feeding forms and one hundred primers of 10-nucleotideslong were tested in PCR. The amplified DNAs were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. Eighty-three primers gave amplified DNA fragments with 1 to 22 in number and 500 to 20,000 base pairs in length, but no amplification was observed in the other 17 primers. The average number of fragment per each amplification was about 13. In the case of 82 out of 83 random primers, band patterns of amplified DNA were identical among 8 clones, even though some differences were noticed in the intensity of specific bands. Polymorphism was detected by only one primer within the tobacco-feeding forms, but not between the two host types. The results did not detect any relationship between RAPD polymorphism and their host preference.
The study was undertaken to assess the degree to which subjects were compliant with a specific metabolic diet in a controlled outpatient feeding study. The study consisted of a two-week control period in which subjects consumed a control diet consisting of 38-40% fat, 18-20% protein, 40-42% carbohydrate, followed by a three-week experimental period during which each subject consumed the control diet plus one of the four fiber supplements(20g/4ay) assigned on a random basis on the trust day. All meals were prepared and eaten in a metabolic feeding laboratory, with the exception of Saturday and Sunday meals that were packed for take-out. Fifty-seven healthy adult men, aged 18-65 years participated in the study. Dietary compliance index(CI) defined as the percent deviation of actual consumption from the prescribed food's and unconsumed prepared foods. The CI reflected the additional 'non-prescribed foods' and unconsumed 'prescribed foods'. A CI was calculated for all subjects. A CI of 5% or more was defined as poor compliance. Overall, dietary compliance was substantially improved for the entire group over the course of the study. Significant increase in compliance far energy and macronutrient intake occurred between the baseline and experimental periods. Within a non-obese group, dietary compliance fir energy improved from 5.5% to 3.3% by the end of the study(week 1vs week 5, respectively, p<0.05). However, between non-obese and obese group, dietary compliance was not different. (Korean J Nutrition 31(5) : 957-964, 1998)
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data in order to develop of some educational programs for increasing breast feeding by studying the female university student's knowledge and attitude on breast feeding, who will become a mother in future. The respondents of this research were selected at random for 462 female students at the university in Seoul and Kyongki area, and it was the period collected the data from Oct 28, 2000 to Nov 8, 2000. The method of study distributed the measuring tools of knowledge with 33 items and the tools of measurement with 20 items on the attitude of breast feeding to the respondents directly, and collected them. The data were analyzed to use SPSS program. Unpaired t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and Multiple regression analysis were used for the calculation of difference between groups and the results were as follows ; 1. The breast feeding was 50.6% in the period of lactation for the respondents and the nuclear families were 81.7% in family constituent unit. In the future the wisher of breast feeding was 91.5%, the medical personnel was a major informer who enjoyed their best confidence, Besides the respond-ents responded that the proper period for education of the breast feeding was in a high school. 2. The level of Knowledge on breast feeding. The respondents's knowledge on breast feeding was average $16.40{\pm}4.59$ points on the basis of 33 points and On the merits and demerits ratio of breast feeding has shown highest but there was low in the field of such a concrete and practical plan as the estimate of breast feeding and the method and mindfulness for breast feeding. The higher grader, the college of the natural science showed significantly the higher points in the knowledge degree by respondents's characters and in such cases the persons of breast feeding or the informed of breast feeding by a medical personnel or the women of strong will for breast feeding action in the future. 3. The Attitude on breast feeding. There was relatively shown a positive attitude of the total average $60.50{\pm}7.59$ points and the average evaluation $3.04{\pm}.36$ points in the attitude on breast feeding. The attitude by each factors has the highest points in the practical action aspect but the lowest in the emotional aspect. The attitude on breast feeding by respondents's characters significantly showed a positive attitude in such cases the persons of breast feeding or the informed of breast feeding or the women of strong will for breast feeding action in the future. 4. Relation to knowledge and attitude on breast feeding. There was shown a correlation of definition in the relation to knowledge and attitude on breast feeding, 5.Factors which have an effect on knowledge and attitude on breast feeding. The factors which have an effect on knowledge of breast feeding were attitudes on breast feeding, graders, the college of natural science and the informed of breast feeding. Also the factors which have an effect on attitude on breast feeding were on will and knowledge on breast feeding, a large family, the informed of breast feeding. In conclusion, it will have to enforce a systematic education on the method of a practical breast feeding enlarged by a medical personnel and professional early enough as the information provision on breast feeding enables one to increase knowledge and attitude on it, besides it has relations with their practical will.
Objectives: Poor complementary feeding practices have consistently contributed to the burden of child undernutrition in Indonesia. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and predictors of the time of the introduction of solid, semi-solid, and soft foods (ISSSF), minimum dietary diversity (MDD), minimum meal frequency (MMF), and minimum acceptable diet (MAD). Methods: We analyzed 4804 last-born infants aged 6-23 months from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey, which employed multistage cluster random sampling. The outcomes were calculated based on the 2021 World Health Organization/United Nations Children's Fund guidelines. The predictors of the 4 complementary feeding indicators were assessed using multivariate Poisson regression with robust variance adjusting for potential confounders and study design. Results: The prevalence of ISSSF, MDD, MMF, and MAD was 86.1%, 54.3%, 71.8%, and 37.6%, respectively, with younger children less likely to meet 3 out of the 4 outcomes. Parental education, the presence of a birth attendant, and maternal media consumption were among the predictors of MDD and MAD. Children from families with higher income were more likely to meet MDD than those from low-income households (adjusted prevalence ratio [aPR], 1.16; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.05 to 1.28). Living in an urban area was positively associated with MMF (aPR, 1.09; 95% CI, 1.04 to 1.15) and MAD (aPR, 1.12; 95% CI 1.02 to 1.24). In eastern regions, the prevalence of children achieving MDD and MAD was lower than in those living in Java and Bali. Conclusions: It is crucial that more attention and efforts are made to improve the recommended practices throughout Indonesia, since the prevalence of adequate complementary feeding practices remains low.
