The performance of Storage assignment policies is traditionally evaluated with the storage capacity of and AS/RS taken as given. However, the storage capacity is closely related to the inventory model used in real situations. This paper presents a model of evaluating the performance of three storage policies(random storage, class-based storage, and full turnover-based storage) considering production lot-sizing simultaneously with storage assignment of inventory items. The objective of the model is to achieve a balance of warehouse throughput and space requirements such that a total of material handling cost, production ordering cost, and inventory holding cost is minimized. The effects of the parameters involved in the model are investigated on the performance of each storage policy through example problems.

Block copolymer lithography has attracted great attention for emerging nanolithography since nanoscaleperiodic patterns can be easily obtained through self-assembly process without conventional top-down patterning process. Since the morphologies of self-assembled block copolymer patterns are strongly dependent on surface energy of a substrate, suitable surface modification is required. Until now, the surface modification has been studied by using random copolymer or self-assembled mono layers (SAMs). However, the research on surface modifications has been limited within several substrates such as Si-based materials. In present study, we investigated the formation of block copolymer on Au substrate by $O_2$ plasma treatment with the SAM of 3-(p-methoxy-phenyl)propyltrichloro-silane [MPTS, $CH_3OPh(CH_2)_3SiCl_3$]. After $O_2$ plasma treatment, the chemical bonding states of the surface were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The static contact angle measurement was performed to study the effects of $O_2$ plasma treatment on the formation of MPTS monolayer. The block copolymer nanotemplates formed on Au surface were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the ordering of self-assembled block copolymer pattern and the formation of cylindrical nano hole arrays were enhanced dramatically by oxygen plasma treatment. Thus, the oxidation of gold surface by $O_2$ plasma treatment enables the MPTS to form the monolayer assembly leading to surface neutralization of gold substrates.

Deuterium NMR studies have been carried out for two kinds of main- chain dimer liquid crystals $\alpha$.$\omega$-bis[(4,4`-cyanobipheny0oxy] alkane (CBA-n, n=9,100.The H-NMR spectra were recorded on a JEOP JNM-GSX-500 spectrometer by using deuterium labelled CBA-n at various temperatures. The RIS analysis of the NMR spectra was performed so as to elucidate the conformational characteristics of the spacer in the nematic phase. Following the previous treatment, the single-ordering-matrix model was adopted, in which the molecular axis was defined parallel to the line connecting the centers of the terminal mesogenic cores. Conformer fractions of the spacer were estimated by simulation so as to reproduce the observed NMR profile. The conformational entropy changes at both CN and NI interphases were estimated on the basis of the nematic conformations taken from the conformation map as well as those derived from the simulation. In these calculations the spacer was assumed th by in the all-trans conformation and in the random coil stats in the crystal and isotropic phases respectively. The esimated conformational entropy change values were then compared with the corresponding constant-volume entropies obtained from PVT measurements. The correspondence between both entropy values was found to be quite good in consideration of the uncertainties involved in both experiment and calculations.
We have suggested three learning rules and implemented an experimental system that automatically restructures hypertext networks according to their user browsing behavior. The system applies link weights to the hypertext networks and updates these weights according to the learning rules. The learning rules are based on how often a particular hyperlink is being traversed and operate on strictly local information of link traversals. Changes in network structure are fed back to users by dynamic link ordering according to descending link weight. This approach is used collaborative filtering and navigation support techniques. The system has been investigation to be able to structure random hypertext networks into valid representations of their user browsing preferences in experiments.
The structural changes viewed from the molecular level have been investigated for the isothermal crystallization phenomena of polyethylene (PE) and the solvent-induced crystallization phenomenon of syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) glassy sample. The data, which were collected by the time-resolved measurements of Fourier-transform infrared spectra, Raman spectra, synchrotron-sourced small-angle X-ray scattering, wide-angle X-ray scattering, and so on, were combined together to extract the detailed structural information in these phase transition phenomena. In the case of PE, the isothermal crystallization from the melt to the orthorhombic form was found to occur via the conformationally-disordered trans chain form, followed by the formation of the lamellar stacking structure of regular orthorhombic-type crystals. In the case of sPS, the amorphous chains in the glassy sample were found to enhance the mobility through the interaction with the injected solvent molecules, which act as a trigger to cause the conformational ordering from the random coil to the regular T$_2$G$_2$-type helical form. The thus created short helical segments were found to grow into longer helices, which gathered together to form the crystallites, as revealed by the organized coupling of the infrared, Raman and X-ray scattering data.

;There are many sources of uncertainty in a typical production and inventory system. There is uncertainty as to how many items customers will demand during the next day, week, month, or year. There is uncertainty about delivery times of the product. Uncertainty exacts a toll from management in a variety of ways. A spurt in a demand or a delay in production may lead to stockouts, with the potential for lost revenue and customer dissatisfaction. Firms typically hold inventory to provide protection against uncertainty. A cushion of inventory on hand allows management to face unexpected demands or delays in delivery with a reduced chance of incurring a stockout. The proposed strategies are used for the design of a probabilistic inventory system. In the traditional approach to the design of an inventory system, the goal is to find the best setting of various inventory control policy parameters such as the re-order level, review period, order quantity, etc. which would minimize the total inventory cost. The goals of the analysis need to be defined, so that robustness becomes an important design criterion. Moreover, one has to conceptualize and identify appropriate noise variables. There are two main goals for the inventory policy design. One is to minimize the average inventory cost and the stockouts. The other is to the variability for the average inventory cost and the stockouts The total average inventory cost is the sum of three components: the ordering cost, the holding cost, and the shortage costs. The shortage costs include the cost of the lost sales, cost of loss of goodwill, cost of customer dissatisfaction, etc. The noise factors for this design problem are identified to be: the mean demand rate and the mean lead time. Both the demand and the lead time are assumed to be normal random variables. Thus robustness for this inventory system is interpreted as insensitivity of the average inventory cost and the stockout to uncontrollable fluctuations in the mean demand rate and mean lead time. To make this inventory system for robustness, the concept of utility theory will be used. Utility theory is an analytical method for making a decision concerning an action to take, given a set of multiple criteria upon which the decision is to be based. Utility theory is appropriate for design having different scale such as demand rate and lead time since utility theory represents different scale across decision making attributes with zero to one ranks, higher preference modeled with a higher rank. Using utility theory, three design strategies, such as distance strategy, response strategy, and priority-based strategy. for the robust inventory system will be developed.loped.

The NTRU cryptosystem proposed by Hoffstein et al. in 1990s is a public key cryptosystem based on hard lattice problems. NTRU has many advantages compared to other public key cryptosystems such as RSA and elliptic curve cryptosystems. For example, it guarantees high speed encryption and decryption with the same level of security, and there is no known quantum computing algorithm for speeding up attacks against NTRD. In this paper, we analyze the security of NTRU against the simple power analysis (SPA) attack and the statistical power analysis (STPA) attack such as the correlation power analysis (CPA) attack First, we implement NTRU operations using NesC on a Telos mote, and we show how to apply CPA to recover a private key from collected power traces. We also suggest countermeasures against these attacks. In order to prevent SPA, we propose to use a nonzero value to initialize the array which will store the result of a convolution operation. On the other hand, in order to prevent STPA, we propose two techniques to randomize power traces related to the same input. The first one is random ordering of the computation sequences in a convolution operation and the other is data randomization in convolution operation.
