  • The MAC protocol of HiperLAN/2 is based on TDMA/TDD. Mobile terminal acquires a data transmission opportunity as successfulness in channel competition through RCH (Random CHannel) phase. Therefore, AP (Access Point) be able to dynamically assign optimum RCH at next frame according to the number of success and collision. In this paper, we suggest scheme that fluctuate RCH (Random CHannel) number as fixed value considering success and collision for improvement of performance in HiperLAN/2. To prove efficiency of proposed scheme, a lots of simulations are conducted and analyzed in view of throughput and access delay.

  • In this paper, we propose an dynamic random channel allocation scheme increasing probability of channel acquisition and reducing delay by limiting the number of minimum RCHs(Random CHannels) as an optimal factor $\beta$. The MAC protocol of HIPERLAN/2 is based on TDMA/TDD and MT(Mobile Terminal) can obtain chance of traffic transmission through channel competition in RCH period. And AP(Access Point) can dynamically schedule the number of RCHs based on the number of the collision in each RCH of the previous frame. Therefore, the proposed scheme increases a probability of channel acquisition and reduces delay by means of guaranteeing the number of minimum RCHs. With a practical Internet traffic, it is concluded that by the proposed scheme the delay reduction of the order of 19% and slightly better throughput are obtained compared to the conventional algorithm.

  • In HIPERLAN/2, the radio channels are assigned by AP(Access Point) that is centrally operated and the MAC protocol is based on TDMA/TDD. Mobile terminal that data transmission is necessary to uplink requests radio resource to AP through RCH channel. The changing number of RCHs in each MAC frame is important because too many RCHs may result in a waste of radio resources and too few RCHs may result in many access collisions and prolong time that connect to AP. Hence the number of RCH should be allocated properly according to traffic. From these point, this paper proposes an scheme that dynamically assigned the number of RCH which is based on the number of success and collision of message in previous MAC frame. To prove efficiency of proposed scheme, lots of simulations are conducted and analyzed.

  • The HIPERLAN/2(HIgh PERformance Local Area Network Type2) is one of the wireless LAN standards for providing raw data rates of up to 54 Mbps. The MAC protocol of HIPERLAN/2 is based on TDMA/TDD, and resources in one MAC frame can be allocated dynamically by Access Point(AP). The random channel(RCH) is defined for the purpose of giving a mobile terminal the opportunity to request transmission resources in the uplink MAC frames. It is desirable that the number of RCHs is dynamically adapted by the AP depending on the current traffic situation. Allocation of excessive RCHs may waste radio resources and insufficient RCHs compared to traffic loads may result in many collisions in access attempts. We propose an RCH allocation scheme based on split algorithm in HIPERLAN/2. The simulation and analytic results show that the proposed scheme achieves a higher channel throughput, lower access delay and delay jitter than previously proposed RCH allocation schemes.

  • The MAC protocol of HIPERLAN/2 is based on TDMA/TDD and AP (Access Point) can dynamically allocate the number of RCHs (Random CHannels). We propose a dynamic random channel allocation scheme improved by limiting the number of minimum RCHs. On a simulated scenario adopted practical Internet traffic, the proposed scheme is shown to achieve over $19\%$ lower delay than previously studied algorithm. This study will be a first step towards designing scope of RCHs for high-performance wireless packet network

  • In this paper, we presented the dynamic random access channel allocation method under the priority based scheduling policy in order to improve the system performance of HIPERLAN/2 standardized by ETSI According to the scheduling policy, AP scheduler primarily allocates the resource to the collision MT This scheduling policy bring about decreasing the transmission delay of collision MT Dynamic RCH(random access channel) allocation method decreases the collision probability by increasing the number of RCH slots in case of low traffic. While it increases the maximum throughput by increasing the number of the data transmission slots in case of high traffic Therefore dynamic allocation method of RCH slots decreases the scheduling delay and increases the throughput When we evaluate the performance of presented method based on standards, we saw that the presented method improve the performance of the MAC protocol in terms of throughput and transmission delay.

  • In this paper, we proposed and evaluated ARAH(Adaptive Random Access algorithm for HIPERLAN/2) to improve system performance. In this paper, HIPERLAN/2 uses OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation scheme to select appropriate PHY mode by Radio Channel Quality, Proposed the ARAH scheme uses these 7 PHY mode when mobile terminal determines the RCH(Random CHannel) number for random access. In this paper, these 7 PHY mode divided into two group, good and bad, and will be given high priority to mobile terminals which are in a good group. In the result of performance evaluation. ARAH algorithm, ARAH has a better performance of throughput and delay than existing algorithm.

  • In this paper we examine the effects of the required portions of guard timing spaces in a MAC frame of ETSI BRAN HIPERLAN/2 system such as inter-mobile guard timing space in UL(Up Link) duration, inter-RCH(Random CHannel) guard timing space, sector switch guard timing space. In particular, we calculate the number of OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols required for these guard timing spaces in a MAC frame. We them evaluate the throughput of HIPERLAN/2 system as we vary parameter such as the guard time values defined in [2], the number of DLCCs(Data Link Control Connections), and the number of RCHs. Finally we show by numerical results that the portions for the 새심 summation of required guard timing spaces in a MAC frame are not negligible, and that they should be properly considered when trying to evaluate the performance of MAC protocol of HIPERLAN/2 system and also when determining the number of RCHs as well as the number of DLCCs in UL PDU trains at an AP/CC(Access Point/Central Controller).
