  • The ability of freight users to identify and to utilize options to move is limited. Saving in time and in fare to freight users could be significant if whole transport sequences could be planned and implemented with high level of service. In oder to improve the attractiveness of rail freight, it is essential that the industrial railway tracks between railway network and large scale logistics facilities are completely equipped. This article present the direction of the master plan of Korean industrial railway tracks.

  • While a year and a half has been passed since the launch of KTX service, traffic volume of Gyung-bu High Speed Railway is still much lower than the forecasted value. This situation has been badly affecting not only Korail's financial status but also KRNA's general railway construction projects as general public responds negatively to such projects as New Ho-nam Line Construction. This paper outlines traffic volume forecasting methodologies applied to construction of Gyung-bu High Speed Railway, identifies major causes of forecasting deviations. and finally extracts problems through comparison between the forecasted results and actual traffic volume.

  • This paper presents a validity of improving core competence of railway industries based on data. The Competitive power of railway largely depends on the quality of railway service and operating systems. Customer life presents itself in a large variety of settlement patterns. As a result of this paper, we will get the opportunities to reduce the dissatisfaction of customer and improve the stability of train operation.

고속철도 서비스품질에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Service Quality of Korea Train Express)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the dimensions of service quality of Korea Train Express(KTX) and to compare the service quality of KTX with that of general train. The researcher consisted of initial 32 items representing eight-dimension and analyzed the final quality dimensions of KTX. The collected data of passenger of 226 was analyzed by statistical procedures such as the iterative sequence of computing Cronbach's a, corrected item-to total correlations, and factor analyses. Through the repeated statistical process to puritY the items, a final set of 26 items representing six district dimensions; tangibles, timely responsiveness, empathy, comfort, information access and safety. The Results of independent samples t-test showed that the mean scores of all the service quality dimensions of KTX except for comfort were higher than those of general train. This finding will provide the more appropriate instrument to measure the KTX service quality as well as to improve the passengers' perception of the service quality.

  • 국내에서 관리되고 있는 전체 철도역사는 322개(일반·광역철도 포함)로 상당히 많은 역사에서 노후가 진행되고 있다. 기존의 철도역사의 규모와 출입구의 수 측면에서 적정한 서비스 용량을 확보하지 못했을 뿐만 아니라 도시개발 등 주변 여건 변화를 겪으며 역사개량에 대한 요구가 높아지고 있다. 과거에는 철도역사가 유지 또는 관리 차원에서 연결통로라는 단순한 기능에 초점이 맞춰져 있었으나, 최근 들어 철도역사도 이용자 중심의 쾌적하고 편리하고, 안전한 서비스 제공 공간으로 거듭나야 한다는 분위기로 전환되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 노후역사의 개량 기준에 부합하는 개량방안을 도출하기 위하여 철도 노후역사 개량 관련 사례조사를 시행하고, 서비스 수준 평가 기준을 개발하였다. 개발 모형에는 서비스 수준(LOS) 개념을 도입하여 역사 혼잡도, 역사 이동 편의성, 역사 안전성을 평가지표로 선정하였다. 또한, 본 개발 모형은 각 지표의 다양한 평가요소들을 주요 요소와 세부 요소로 나누어 계층화하고, 계층별 요소들의 상대적 중요도를 도출하기 위해 분석적 계층화 기법을 적용하였다. 시설별 LOS 상 E와 F의 개수 비율을 활용하여 개량 우선순위를 도출하였다. 본 연구를 토대로 객관적이고 형평성 있는 철도역사 개량을 위한 평가 기준으로 활용되는 데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

실시간 철도 안전관제를 위한 DDS 기반의 일반철도 신호 데이터 규격 설계 연구 (Research on Design of DDS-based Conventional Railway Signal Data Specification for Real-time Railway Safety Monitoring and Control)

  • 철도 안전사고 예방을 목표로 하는 실시간 철도 안전관제 시스템에서는 DDS (Data Distribution Service) 표준 기술 기반의 데이터 전송 방안을 적용함으로 기존 현장의 안전검지장치로부터 발생한 데이터를 통합 및 관리하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 수많은 현장 데이터 중 일반철도 현장에서 발생한 신호설비 데이터 규격 설계를 소개하고 있다. 신호설비 데이터의 DDS 전송을 위하여 기존 표준 규격인 KRS SG 0062를 모델링하고, DDS 데이터 전송 단위인 Topic 설계 및 데이터 변환 방안을 제시하고, 데이터 성격 별로 네트워크 제어 QoS 정책 설계를 제시하고 있다. 또한 실제 현장 데이터를 분석하여 설계된 규격이 현장에 적용 가능한지를 확인해 보았다.

국내 도시철도 차량을 위한 FRACAS 기반의 신인성 관리 플랫폼 연구 (A Study on FRACAS-based Dependability Control Platform for Domestic Urban Railway Trains)

  • This paper describes a study on the FRACAS(Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System)-based dependability control platform for domestic urban railway trains. There are more demands for the verification of the dependability of trains as it becomes a regulation for train manufacturers to verify the dependability recently. Train manufacturers as well as railway operators need a effective FRACAS solution to perform the verification of the dependability. Yet current FRACAS solutions have limitations to support the verification processes effectively. This paper addresses the issues of current FRACAS solutions and suggests a FRACAS framework designed for the domestic urban railway trains. Service failure scenarios are standardized using the proposed availability model to implement a more user-friendly and reliable platform. A new FRACAS-based platform for the dependability control (SCARF®) has been developed to implement the suggested framework. The detail interfaces and functions of the platform are explained. The SCARF® platform is expected to engage the increasing demands for the dependability control successfully enhancing the reliability, maintainability, availability and safety of domestic urban railway trains eventually.

주요 철도역사의 고객이용패턴 조사분석 (An Examination of Customer Usage for Major Railway Station Buildings)

  • Under the rapid change in environment of our society and culture, it is also called for a reform in railway management that has traditionally focused on transportation service. Thus developing a business model to use station buildings as a new source of profit has become a promising core business of railway companies. This study aims to find a way to maximize profits by strategically utilizing station buildings and thereby increasing accessibility to customers and consolidating facilities as a key service point. The subjects of this study include eight station buildings that can represent three types of railway stations including departure stations, junction stations, and metro stations. The researcher conducted an analysis on moving lines for examining user distribution and facility utilization within the selected buildings, a survey for collecting basic information on usage and measuring customer satisfaction of facility in the buildings, and a sight analysis to examine accessibility to the station buildings. On the basis of these analyses, the researcher examined the correlations between convenience, visibility, recognizability and functionality with regard to commerce, amenities, couches, direction boards, etc. within station waiting rooms. On the basis of the above analyses, the researcher provides a scheme to increase profitability in railway operation business and customer benefits of using station buildings by drawing up a plan to improve usage of station buildings and maximize profit-making potential for each category of station buildings.

A Study on the Development of Railway Logistics Business Model and Track Capacity

  • Purpose: This study attempts to analyze the current status of the railway logistics business and to seek ways to improve it by using the business model as an analytical framework. It was intended to reflect practical implications that could be applied to the field, by dealing with issues at the industrial site related to each component in the business model. Research design, data and methodology: This study was conducted through literature review and field research. We analyzed academic papers and industrial reports on the development of the railway logistics industry and interviewed various stakeholders in the railway logistics industry. Results: This study determined the factors that could be eliminated, raised, reduced, or created from the customer and product perspective, infrastructure management perspective, and financial perspective. Conclusions: The growth of existing business can be achieved by lowering service prices, improving service quality, and securing large-scale transportation capacity. The additional transportation of high value goods and cold chain commodities will be promising business opportunities. Existing services can be provided to new customers (large pre-shippers, forwarding customers, etc.) in order to increase the size of sales Urban delivery services and comprehensive logistics services based on complex logistics centers may open an avenue for new market. A more timetable and track capacity need to be assigned to logistics, which significantly improve the flexibility and the competency of railway logistics.

도시철도의 서비스품질이 고객만족도와 재이용의도에 미치는 영향 분석 (Study on the Effect of Service Quality on Customer Satisfaction and Revisit Intent in the Urban Railway)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 도시철도의 서비스품질과 고객만족도, 재이용의도 간 상관관계와 인과관계를 분석하는 것이다. 구조방정식모형(SEM)을 설정한 후 그것을 분석하기 위하여 SPSS 21.0과 AMOS 21.0을 사용하였다. 분석의 결과 대부분 모형의 적합도를 만족시켰다: 서비스품질의 신뢰성과 편리성, 안전성은 고객만족도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤고(p<.05), 유형성(-.187)과 응대성(-.103)은 고객만족도에 영향력의 크기와는 관련이 없는 것으로 분석되었다(p>.05). 그리고 고객만족도는 재방문의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다(p<.001). 고객만족도에 영향을 주는 중요도의 서비스품질의 우선순위는 신뢰성, 편리성, 안전성, 응대성, 유형성 순으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과는 향후 만성적인 적자로 허덕이고 있는 도시철도(경전철포함) 운영기관에게 고객맞춤형 서비스품질을 제공토록 하여 고객만족도 향상과 수익창출 위한 중장기 경영계획과 경영전략의 초석을 제공할 것이다.
