  • To boost the Korean peninsula as a logistical hub of North-East Asia in 21st century is an important part of Korean development strategies. This research has been conducted on the premise that the connection and operation of the Korean Peninsula break-railway and Euro-Asian railway network will be a great drive for Korean economy and railway technology development. For the preparation to do a further research on this subject, this paper introduces the general condition and related basic material for the railway network operation through the countries along the corridor. It also provides the basic data of railway and actual operation condition in the involved Euro- Asian areas, such as Russia, China, Mongolia, Kazakh-stan, etc.

  • In the paper We have analyzed the case study of the domestic and foreign railway logistic information systems based on the railway logistic to build the information architect basis system of real-time simultaneous. In case of domestic examples, We have analyzed the logistic information system used in Korea Railroad and the information systems of Kyungin ICD(Inland Container Depot) and Busanjin CY(Container Yard). In case of foreign example, we have analyzed the logistic information system of Japanese FRENS(Freight information network system) and the examples of freight tracking using RFID(Radio Frequency Identification). Through the above analysis, We have induced the main problems and improvement methods. We are able to build the railway-oriented information network system for the massive and efficient railway transportation.

  • Train operation simulation program models the railway facilities such as railway network configuration, railway parameters and signalling equipments, as well as the train performances such as traction performance, schedules, timetable. As the program can emulate exactly the train movements on the railway network by using computer simulation techniques, it can be applied to the optimization of the train operation plan and the reform of railway facilities. This paper provides a simulation case study which shows that we can simulate exactly the unusual situations of train traffic operation when train movements are disturbed by accidents, and also provide the effective countermeasure to minimize the train delays.

  • Intelligent agent is to decide what customers need on the internet and offer them accurate information. In this paper, the system which can recommend the tourism items in terms of customer‘s needs is proposed by appling the intelligent agent to railway tourism system. Most of previous agents are focused on price. But, this study proposes the Railway tourism system which offers each customer the best suitable information based on quality of information and reputation. The customer's needs are analyzed through intelligent agent and the information which is suitable for customer's needs is obtained the Artificial Neural Network Model.

Railway sleeper crack recognition based on edge detection and CNN

  • Cracks in railway sleeper are an inevitable condition and has a significant influence on the safety of railway system. Although the technology of railway sleeper condition monitoring using machine learning (ML) models has been widely applied, the crack recognition accuracy is still in need of improvement. In this paper, a two-stage method using edge detection and convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed to reduce the burden of computing for detecting cracks in railway sleepers with high accuracy. In the first stage, the edge detection is carried out by using the 3×3 neighborhood range algorithm to find out the possible crack areas, and a series of mathematical morphology operations are further used to eliminate the influence of noise targets to the edge detection results. In the second stage, a CNN model is employed to classify the results of edge detection. Through the analysis of abundant images of sleepers with cracks, it is proved that the cracks detected by the neighborhood range algorithm are superior to those detected by Sobel and Canny algorithms, which can be classified by proposed CNN model with high accuracy.

  • Of the rapid development of modem civilization development is one of the IT industry. The Network is the root of the discrete industry. Most of the Protocol is used by LAN and the TCP / IP. Slowly in the railway operation of this Network is being applied. It also used to train and they are operated. The concept of the road, the Network TCP / IP using a non-Star structure of the Main Unit and the Bus Network is designed to structure consists of the Network. This structure is a simplified DATA. Data of complex operations is easy to feel the speed limit is. In addition, all devices must be independent to the operating system with the ability to manage the operation and stability in terms of exactly how the transmission of Data is gonna work pass. And transmission occurs in the middle of the Noise and the device is available to manage the power. Noise in the power of the railway to ensure the efficient transfer of Data is by blocking. Also, by presenting the entire system's operational safety should be guaranteed the safety of the railway.

Wireless sensor networks for underground railway applications: case studies in Prague and London

  • There is increasing interest in using structural monitoring as a cost effective way of managing risks once an area of concern has been identified. However, it is challenging to deploy an effective, reliable, large-scale, long-term and real-time monitoring system in an underground railway environment (subway / metro). The use of wireless sensor technology allows for rapid deployment of a monitoring scheme and thus has significant potential benefits as the time available for access is often severely limited. This paper identifies the critical factors that should be considered in the design of a wireless sensor network, including the availability of electrical power and communications networks. Various issues facing underground deployment of wireless sensor networks will also be discussed, in particular for two field case studies involving networks deployed for structural monitoring in the Prague Metro and the London Underground. The paper describes the network design, the radio propagation, the network topology as well as the practical issues involved in deploying a wireless sensor network in these two tunnels.

국내 철도 통신망의 문제점 분석 및 개선방안 연구 (A Study on the Problem Analysis and Improvement Plan for the Korean Railways Communication Networks)

  • 현재 국내 철도는 철도 통신망의 여러 기능을 통합하고 보완할 뿐만 아니라, 유선으로 구축된 통신망을 무선화하는 통합무선망에 대한 연구가 진행 중이다. 또한 통합무선망 구축에 필요한 철도 주파수 확보를 위한 활동이 진행 중이다. 본 논문은 국내 철도 통신망의 문제점을 분산된 네트워크 구조, 제한된 기능, 상이한 통신방식, 통신방식의 기술적 한계, 비면허 대역 사용을 중심으로 분석한다. 그리고 국내 철도통신과 비교하여, 세계 철도통신의 현황 및 동향에 대하여 분석한다. 분석된 문제점을 해결하기 위한 개선방안에 대하여 제안하고, 이에 대한 기대효과를 도출한다.

  • Much signaling equipments are installed along railway tracks, and these are working in cooperation with each other, referring to other signaling equipment status. Existing railway signaling system uses signal cables to transmit this information. This system requires high cost for construction and have the problems like many faults from mistakes in cable connection, etc To solve these problems, JREast Inc. has developed a new signaling system based on network technology, utilizing Ethernet-Passive Optical Network(E-PON). In this paper, we review the system proposed by JREast Inc. and field test results performed on railway.

Meeting the Demands for Major International Traffic Flows through Railnet Austria's Maintenance and Capacity Planning Regime

  • Serving as a strategic crossing point for major corridors in Central Europe, Railnet Austria's Infrastructure Network incurs continual increases in international traffic flows and is therefore subject to accumulating traffic congestion with potential restrictions to infrastructure access. This imposes challenges towards preserving open access to Railnet Austria's existing railway network and hinders quality infrastructure service during maintenance, repair, and upgrading. Through Railnet Austria's experiences, the economic viability of a railway network can be sustained through maintaining open access with good quality service of planned trainpaths, thus representing new challenges for future infrastructure maintenance and capacity planning. Railnet Austria's Capacity Management Department has proven that these challenges can be accommodated more effectively through recent technological developments in data warehousing and software development.
