On the Improvement of the Process by Analyzing Precision Diagnosis of Deteriorated Railroad Communication Facilities

  • Railroad Systems, which are national infrastructure industries, cause unexpected property and human damage if they fail to function while operating. Accordingly, railroad facilities supporting the railroad system are areas where high reliability and safety are required. However, it is time for systematic and scientific maintenance to be taken away from the traditional maintenance methods, as the nation's railroad facilities are now aging seriously. The purpose of this study was to secure the safety and reliability of the aging railroad communication facilities and to improve their performance. The research subjects were selected as a precision diagnosis process for railroad communication facilities, and improvement points were derived through detailed precision diagnosis process analysis. It is deemed that this study can contribute based on securing stability, improving reliability, and continuous improvement of railroad communication facilities should be conducted in the operation of the entire railroad system.

철도 WAVE 통신을 위한 WAVE 패킷 전송방법 (WAVE Packet Transmission Method for Railroad WAVE Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE)통신을 철도통신에 적용하였을 때 사용할 수 있는 효과적인 패킷 전송 방법을 제안하였다. WAVE통신은 무선랜에 기초한 통신으로 이동체 통신에 적합하도록 개발된 통신방법으로 Intelligent Transport System (ITS)에 응용하도록 많은 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 철도도 주요 교통수단의 하나로 WAVE를 이용하면 현재 무선랜 시스템을 이용한 Communication Based Train Control (CBTC)를 포함한 많은 서비스들의 성능을 개선하고 여러 시스템으로 분산되어 있는 서비스들을 WAVE로 통합할 수 있다. 하지만, WAVE를 철도에 사용하기 위해서는 해결되어야 하는 문제점이 존재한다. 가장 단순한 구조인 Single-PHY WAVE는 제어채널(Control Channel, CCH)와 서비스 채널(Service Channel, SCH)을 50ms씩 번갈아가며 통신을 수행한다. 철도 통신은 주로 지연에 민감한 패킷들이 많이 존재하는데 이러한 동작에서는 성능 열화가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 WAVE통신 방법을 상세히 분석한 후 문제점을 도출하고 이러한 문제점을 철도 WAVE 환경에서 해결할 수 있는 새로운 패킷 전송 방법을 제안한다. WAVE 전송 성능을 수학적 모델링을 하여 철도 통신의 요구사항을 만족하는지 여부를 확인하였다.

  • A point machine requires lots of time and attention in terms of maintenance, since it causes 40% of failures among the railway signaling devices. The senescence of the point machine critically matters to the overall turnout system. In this paper, we analyzed the aging characteristics of the point machine by using the switching current of the point machine. The analysis is done based on the switching current measurements of the point machines deployed in the Sehwa outdoor test site and the Korail Kyongbu line. It is expected that the analysis result can be utilized for real-time diagnosis in the aspect of the maintenance of the point machines and predicting abnormal operations.

  • This paper presents a Train Communication Network simulator (TCNS) that can be used to evaluate the performance of TCN. TCN was accepted as the standard of the protocol for the communication network in trains. We carry out some simulation tests using the TCNS to show practical uses of the simulator. Results of some simulation tests are also reported

  • Communication based train control system is applied regularly worldwide. And this system may be used in domestic soon. Communication based train control system does not depend on conventional track circuit. Therefore, position and distance control of train to prevent collision with leading train may become important safety factor. This paper developed collision avoidance algorithm to control trains of several units efficiently for this. In developing a collision avoidance algorithm, it is desirable to avoid the need for additional system. Additional system restricts the development of the algorithm by limiting the effectiveness of the algorithm to only those areas where the additional system can be afforded and has been installed.

  • A method of common earth, which is proposed by French Railway(SNCF) and is applied to high speed railway, minimizes the effect of the traction return current from tracks so that trackside electric devices can be protected and operation and maintenance staffs are kept out from injury in an electric railway environment. According to it, all the new domestic electric railway lines are replaced from existing individual earth method to the common earth method. In this paper, we analyze the correlation between common earth method and traction return current to prove whether the common earth has surely contributed to minimize the effect of the traction return current. The analysis was done based on the measurement of the traction return current at the domestic high speed railway line.

  • Today, the railway is very important in modern society means of public transport. Many people use the railway each day. On the other hand, with regard to railway accidents every year due to damage caused many casualties. In this paper, we propose railroad crossing accident prevention system for monitoring the situation based on OSGi for safe railway operations, about the same railroad crossing a dangerous place. This system, communication between the train and railroad crossing. So the information from the train crossing while a train driver was monitored in real time with more information than can help prevent accidents on the crossing. Using the OSGi framework, can be used widely in many hardware.

AHP와 QFD를 이용한 철도기술 개선에 관한 실증적 연구 (An Empirical Study of Railroad Technology Improvement Using AHP and QFD)

  • Purpose: This study aims to determine the needs of customers who use railroads as a mode of transportation and propose customer-oriented improvements in railroad technology by making connections between customer needs and railroad technology. Methods: We primarily used two methods for this study, AHP and QFD. First, AHP was used to evaluate the relative importance among the different components of railroad technology. Second, the QFD was applied to make a link between customer needs and railroad technology. Results: Railroad technology is largely divided into development, maintenance, and support. Empirical results showed the following improvement priorities in development, vehicle, system, line, signal/communication, power, and structure, in maintenance, vehicle, signal/communication, line, process, power, and structure, and in support, safety/precaution, management, environmental energy, operations/logistics, and station. Conclusion: Recognizing limitations in measuring the level of railroad technology when using the existing 'Technology Growth Model,' we used AHP and QFD to explore improvement directions for customer-oriented railroad technology. By offering customer-oriented services based on this study, railroad service providers will be able to acquire competitive advantage in the market.

  • 최근 IT기술의 발달과 고속, 고밀도 운행을 요구하는 철도시스템에서 기존의 궤도회로기반 열차제어방식에서 새로운 개념을 도입한 통신을 이용한 열차제어로 변화가 됨과 동시에 유지보수의 효율화, 승객서비스 증대에 따라 철도시스템에서 무선통신이 중요한 역할은 담당하는 위치로 변경되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 철도시스템에서 통신의 역할을 분석하고, 수송력향상과 안전 확보 및 효율적인 열차제어를 위한 무선통신망 구축방안으로 국외의 사례 비교 및 검토를 기반으로 효과적인 방안으로 제시함으로써 철도시스템을 위한 최적의 철도 무선통신망의 구축을 도모하고자 한다.

  • 철도는 이제 대표적인 대중교통 수단이다. 하지만, 철도를 운영하는 운영기관마다 철도정보를 관리하고, 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 즉, 철도 운영기관 별로 관리하고, 서비스하는 정보와 정보의 형태가 다르기 때문에 철도이용객은 정확하고, 통합된 정보를 제공받지 못하게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 철도이용객이 원하는 철도정보 서비스에 대한 니즈를 파악하고, 이를 기반으로 모든 철도정보를 한 번에, 한 눈에, 한 곳에서 이용할 수 있는 통합적 서비스 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 또한, 철도이용객에게 보다 직관적이고, 가시화된 서비스인 지식맵 서비스를 제공하고자 온톨로지 기반의 지식베이스 구축 방안에 대해 고찰하고자 한다.
