유도탄용 레이돔 시선각 오차 보정 기법 (A Method of Boresight Error Compensation for Missile Radome)

  • The radome boresight error degrades the microwave seeker ability and the missile guidance performance. It increases the miss distance, also. This paper propose a method of radome boresight error measurement and compensation. The compensation method consist of radome analysis and radome compensation. In the radome analysis stage, we can know that the electromagnetic characteristics distorted by radome. In the compensation stage, the look-up table is built and used for compensation. The test uses a FMS(Flight motion simulator) and adjusts the FMS setup error for more accuracy. The result shows that not using an elaborate radome measurement equipment, the radome boresight error is well compensated easily.

  • Radome aberration error causes degradation of miss distance as well as stability of high maneuver missile system with RF seeker. A study about radome compensation method is important in this kind of missile system design. Several kinds of methods showed good compensation performance in their paper. Proposed adaptive Particle filter estimates line of sight rate excluding the radome induced error. This paper shows effectiveness of adaptive Particle filter as compensation method of radome aberration error. Robust performance of this filter depends on external aiding measurement, target acceleration. Tuning of system error covariance can make this filter unsensitive against the error of target acceleration information. This paper demonstrates practical usage of adaptive Particle filter for reducing miss distance and increasing stability against disturbance of radome aberration error through performance analysis.

  • In this paper, a method of Radome design is considered. The shape is similar to tangent-ogive, and the antenna is a waveguide broad-wall slot array antenna. The characteristic of the Radome material is obtained by measuring test samples. By analyzing the transmission efficiency of the flat plate, Radome wall thickness is determined firstly. And then, the detailed characteristics of the Radome are analyzed by using GO-PO approximation technique. Several simple parameters of the designed Radome are tested and compared with the simulation results.

레이돔 표면에 금속 나노코팅을 적용한 적외선 저피탐 성능특성 연구 (Analysis on Infrared Stealth Performance of Metal Nano-coating on Radome Surface)

  • Infrared stealth technology used in aircraft is applied to reduce the infrared signal by controlling surface temperature and emissivity using internal heat sink, low emissivity material or metamaterial. However, there is one part of the aircraft where the use of this technology is limited, and that is the radome. Especially, radome should have transmittance for the specific radio frequency, therefore, common stealth technology such as emissivity control surfaces cannot be applied to radome surface. In this study, we developed metal nano-coating for infrared stealth which is applicable to radome surface. We designed slot-type pattern for frequency selective transmission in X-band, and also controlled thickness of metal nano-coating for long wavelength infrared emissivity control. As a result, our infrared stealth surface for radome has 93.2 % transmittance in X-band and various infrared emissivities from 0.17 to 0.57 according to nano-coatings thickness. Also, we analyzed infrared signature of radome through numerical simulation, and finally reduced contrast radiant intensity by 97.57 % compared to polyurethane surface.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic radiation from a slot array antenna enclosed by a Von Karman radome is analyzed by using the ray tracing method and Huygens's principle. We consider the rectangular slot array antenna and the Von Karman radome. The radiation patterns are calculated by using the surface currents of the radome to illustrate the electromagnetic behaviors of the radome-enclosed waveguide slot array antenna.

ELINT 방향탐지 시스템에 적용되는 밀리미터파 대역 레이돔에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Millimeter Wave Band Radome for ELINT Directional Finding System)

  • In this paper, we have experimentally studied on phase characteristics of airborne radome for ELINT directional finding system, because it is difficult to find theoretical solutions for phase error of the radome. Especially, we described the millimeter wave band radome that was fabricated with cyanate-ester material and its thickness was 2mm. We presented the phase error about millimeter band radome. That phase error is about 30 degrees for parallel and perpendicular polarization in the K-Ka band. That is reasonable value for the ELINT directional finding system.

  • In this study, an effective method for designing an electromagnetic multilayer radome is introduced. This method is achieved by using ant colony optimization for a continuous domain in the transmission coefficient maximization with stability for a wide angle of incidence in both perpendicular and parallel polarizations in specific X- and Ku-bands. To obtain the optimized parameter for a C-sandwich radome, particle swarm optimization algorithm is operated to give a clear comparison on the effectiveness of ant colony optimization for a continuous domain. The qualification of an optimized multilayer radome is also compared with an effective solid radome type in transmitted power stability and presented in this research.

Particle Swarm Optimization을 이용한 다층 구조 레이돔 설계 (Design of Multilayer Radome with Particle Swarm Optimization)

  • 본 논문에서는 PSO(Particle Swarm Optimizaation)를 이용하여 다층 구조(c-sandwich) 레이돔을 설계하고, 레이돔 특성을 분석하였다. PSO를 이용한 레이돔 설계는 두 경우를 바탕으로 설계되었다. 첫 번째는 c-sandwich 레이돔의 skin과 core의 물질이 정해진 상태에서 PSO를 이용하여 각 층들의 최적의 두께를 결정하였으며, 두 번째는 양쪽 skin의 물질과 두께는 고정하고, 가운데 3개의 층에 대해 물질 상수와 두께를 PSO를 이용하여 최적의 값을 결정하였다. 설계된 두 레이돔 모두 0.1 GHz에서 15 GHz 관심 주파수 대역 중, X-band에서 삽입 손실이 -0.3 dB 이내의 우수한 성능을 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 레이돔 설계에 PSO를 적용함으로써 빠르고 정확하게 설계 업무를 수행할 수 있음을 보였으며, 경사 입사에 대한 경우에도 최적의 레이돔을 설계할 수 있음을 보였다. 또한 다양한 파라미터의 조합에서도 요구 성능에 부합하는 최적의 값이 결정됨을 보였다. 본 논문의 결과로부터 레이돔을 설계하기 위한 복잡하고 많은 계산을 생략할 수 있으며, 다양한 성능을 가지는 레이돔 설계 및 개발에 활용 할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, an estimation scheme with the IMM algorithm to estimate radome slope and target states is used to reduce the radome induced miss distance effectively in spatial active homing engagements of an anti-air missile. The filter algorithm in conjunction with proportional navigation guidance is tested by a series of simulation runs.

배열 안테나용 AEM형 FSS 레이돔 설계 (Design of AEM FSS-Radome for Array Antenna)

  • 본 논문에서는 단위-셀 EM 시뮬레이션 기법을 통해 주파수 선택적 전파투과막(FSS: Frequency Selective Surface)을 갖는 AEM(Advanced Enclosed Mast) 레이돔을 설계하고, $16{\times}16$ 배열안테나 방사 패턴 시험을 통해 레이돔의 성능을 검증하였다. 측정한 결과, 평면파 입사 조건을 가정한 시뮬레이션 결과와 원전계 및 근전계 조건에 레이돔을 두고 시험한 결과가 서로 잘 일치하는 결과를 확인하였다. 이 결과들을 통해 검증된 AEM형 FSS 레이돔을 활용하여 기존 마스트 대비 안테나의 RCS를 줄이는 것이 가능할 것이다.
