  • Korea Railroad Research Institute has developed the driverless rubber-tired K-AGT (Korean-Automated Guideway Transit) system from 1999 to 2005 and has done its performance and reliability tests on the test line at Gyeongsan-city. Radio Frequency Communication-Based Train Control system of K-AGT, which employed Advanced Automated Train Control scheme, detects train position using the radio propagation delay between wayside and vehicle radio equipment. In this paper, we investigate whether the transmission power of radio system can be reduced to the permitted level announced by the Ministry of Information and Communication for license-free ISM(Industrial Scientific Medical) frequency bands. We first determine radio propagation model, using the measured data at test line, and perform simulation for radio coverage prediction. From the simulation results, we identify that the radio system operated with reduced power can provide good link quality in total test line.

  • Along with the increase of demand of radio communication and with the rapid progress of communication systems, the radio frequency interference of neighbor nations is a matter of argue. This problem is a delicate matter which must be dealt with technical background. The radio interference has been experienced in the Korean TRS service on the south seashore due to the seashore base station in Japan. The radio interference problem between neighbor nations has become the matter of conflict. For the purpose to solve this problem, we has measured the radio waves that come from Japan mainly to Korea and also analyzed the radio interference.

  • In a wireless communication system, increasing the channel capacity with a limited frequency is a problem in all frequency bands. Increasing the frequency bandwidth and increasing the output can increase the channel capacity, but sometimes the communication is not possible due to interference noise. If the radio frequency allocation is set to world standardization such as WRC or ITU-R, each country has strict control over regulations. This is because one wireless communication system should not affect other systems. We present the results of a study on scenarios and analysis of radio waves to be installed inside and outside the aircraft without interfering with the wireless LAN.

  • In this paper, a compact slot antenna for 2.4GHz ISM band applications has been designed. The folded slot with some additional meander sections are used in the design of the antenna within the restricted PCB space. The operating frequency band and the fractional bandwidth of the antenna is about 2.32~2.58 GHz and 11%, and the radiation patterns within the operation bandwidth are almost same. Also, the radiation efficiency and gain of the antenna is more than 49% and 1.2 dBi respectively. To check the validity of the design result, the measurement and simulation results are compared and presented.

  • The Military Tactical Communication technology for effective network-centric warfare is developing. Targeting broadband wireless transmission, core technology for connection, and Transmission technology that secure survivability under High-speed Movement environment. On the one hand, Tactical data communication system that reflects military characteristic is developing on the base of Legacy communication equipment which is used in the field. Because almost every military units in the field have used voice to communicate which lower efficiency of operation, they have made effort to Substitute voice communication which delays military Operation Tempo to digital communication. The Communications environment of troops in Forward edge of battle field area is very poor. Especially in terms of limited frequency allocation and bandwidth. Therefore, improving the efficiency of frequency is essential for Military Tactical Communication. This paper is about The Data Compression Method for increase of Efficiency in Tactical Data Communication over Legacy Radios which are UHF, VHF, HF Radio. I proposed and proved the most efficient Data Compression Method that reflects military characteristic, after analyzing the experimentation, which simulate CAS(Close Air Support mission) data transmission between Pilot and TACP.

  • In this paper, we present a low-power delta-sigma based digital frequency synthesizer with high frequency resolution for bio sensor networks. Biomedical radio-frequency (RF) transceivers require miniaturized forms with a long battery life and low power consumption. For the technology scaling, digital circuits have become preferable compared to analog circuits because of the aggressive cost, size, flexibility, and repeatability. Therefore, the digital circuits based on standard-cell library are used to reduce a power consumption. Additionally, a delta-sigma is used for making fractional frequency tuning range. From the simulation, we confirmed that proposed scheme has good performance in accordance with power and frequency resolution.

  • The paper presents five strategic opinions for promoting the fourth industry revolution through the supply of 5G additional frequency. The assessments are on the basis of 5G frequency utilization technologies and services, with reference to 3GPP 5G New Radio standards, after investigating the domestic 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile communication services as well as the use of mobile radio frequency and spectrum. The presented opinions contain the frequency supply of contiguous-wide bandwidth channels, harmonized frequency supply between licensed and unlicensed spectrum, the existing 4G frequency recycle for increasing 5G coverage and capacity, balance frequency supply in the multi-band for 5G services, and the development of 5G vertical frequency for industry. The aim is that the presented five strategic opinions can offer guidance for the upcoming plan of domestic 5G additional frequency supply.

  • This paper presents the survey of technical trend in AD converters for wireless communication systems. This paper provides explanations about the performance measure of ADC in wireless communication application and the relation ship between BER versus effective resolution and sampling speed. The survey suggests that at least one step analog frequency down conversion is required for software defined radio systems due to current technological limit.

  • This paper presents a new Kurtosis driven Variable Step-Size Normalized Least Mean Square (KVSSN-LMS) algorithm to prevent repeater from oscillation due to feedback signal of radio frequency (RF) repeater. To get better Mean Square Error (MSE) performance, step-size is adjusted using the kurtosis. The proposed algorithm shows the better performance of steady state MSE. The proposed algorithm shows a better ERLE performance than that of KVSS-LMS, VSS-NLMS, NLMS algorithms.
