  • The axial distributions of plasma density in a helical resonator plasma with the external magnetic field have been measured using Langmuir probes. Net RF power is set to 200W and chamber pressure is varied from 0.4 mTorr to 100mTorr there are three kinds of eternal magnetic field structure applied on the helical resonator plasma. One is a uniform magnetic field, the second is a positive gradient magnetic field and the third is a negative gradient magnetic field. In the three magnetic field structures, the negative gradient magnetic field is found to show the highest increase in plasma density on the substrate compared with other magnetic structures. Plasma density profile in helical resonator is well consistent with electromagnetic field pattern obtained by computer simulation. It is also found that axial magnetic fields do not affect plasma density distribution in the plasma reactor region, but induce the increase of plasma density in the process chamber region. In order to avoid the nonuniformity of radial density profile, weak magnetic fields under 100G are applied.

  • Small area model provides reliable and accurate estimations when the sample size is not sufficient. Our dataset has an inherent nonlinear pattern which signicantly affects our inference. In this case, we could consider semiparametric models such as truncated polynomial basis function and radial basis function. In this paper, we study four Bayesian semiparametric models for small areas to handle this point. Four small area models are based on two kinds of basis function and different knots positions. To evaluate the different estimates, four comparison measurements have been employed as criteria. In these comparison measurements, the truncated polynomial basis function with equal quantile knots has shown the best result. In Bayesian calculation, we use Gibbs sampler to solve the numerical problems.

  • Observation was made on early ontogeny of vascular cambium in the cotyledonary node of Pinus koraiensis seedling in order to clarify the cambial ontogeny of the node which was hardly elongated. In transverse view, the derivatives by the early periclinal divisions at the outer region of the procambial strands differentiated to protophloem with establishing a certain degree of radial seriations. Later, some cells in the central region of the procambial strands begin divide periclinally, eventually the cells, differentiate gradually to the vascular cambium. In tangential view, early procambium is consisted of homogeneous short cells with transverse end walls which are tansformed into the long cells and short cells gradually. The long cells continue intrusive growth and the short cells repeat transverse division. Finally, the long and short cells differentiated to cambial fusiform initials and ray initials respectively. In tangential section, the differentiation pattern of cambial initials resembles that of the stem of Ginkgo biloba. But in transverse view, the characteristics in the origin of vascular cambium of the cotyledonary node resembles that of root. The vascular cambium in cotyledonary node is completed after eleven prophylls were formed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of visual properties on the human movement behavior experimentally and empirically using spatial analysis technique based on ecological perception theory. For the survey of choosing behaviors of heading direction in built environments, the experiment was conducted in which the subjects were made to choose moving directions in some spaces using the virtual environment simulation tool, and then comparative analysis was conducted on the interrelation between the experiment results and various visual properties in existing spatial analysis techniques based on ecological perception theory. As a result, the occlusivity of the isovist theory was found to be the most significant index in the human choice of heading direction, and the longest radial also showed somewhat significant effect on it.

  • In the present paper, the numerical dynamic analysis of a functionally graded nano-scale nonuniform tube was investigated according to the high-order beam theory coupled with the nonlocal gradient strain theory. The supposed cross-section is changed along the pipe length, and the material distribution, which combines both metal and ceramics, is smoothly changed in the pipe length direction, which is called axially functionally graded (AFG) pipe. Moreover, the porosity voids are dispersed in the cross-section and the radial pattern that the existence of both material distribution along the tube length and porosity voids make a two-dimensional functionally graded (2D-FG) truncated conical pipe. On the basis of the Hamilton principle, the governing equations and the associated boundary conditions equations are derived, and then a numerical approach is applied to solve the obtained equations.

  • The extended Lyα nebulae (also known as Lyα blobs or LABs) observed at z=2-6 can provide clues to galaxy formation in the early universe. The connection of LABs with the overdensities of compact Lyα emitters suggests that they are associated with matter density peaks in the universe and thus likely to evolve into the present-day groups and clusters of galaxies. However, the mechanism powering the extended Lyα emission in LABs is remained controversial. The detection of polarization signals that follow the theoretically predicted trend is interpreted as strong evidence supporting that the LABs are caused primarily by the resonance scattering of Lyα originating from star-forming galaxies and AGNs. However, Trebitsch et al. (2016) claimed that the radial profile of polarization could be better explained by the scenario in which Lyα photons are produced in the cooling gas surrounding galaxies and then self-scattered by the gas, rather than by the scattering scenario of photons originating from the central galaxies. In this presentation, using LaRT, a state-of-art Lyα radiative transfer code, it is demonstrated that the observed polarization pattern can be reproduced even with the scattering scenario.

  • In this paper, we propose the design of Radial Basis Function Neural Network based on PCA in order to recognize handwritten digits. The proposed pattern classifier consists of the preprocessing step of PCA and the pattern classification step of pRBFNNs. In the preprocessing step, Feature data is obtained through preprocessing step of PCA for minimizing the information loss of given data and then this data is used as input data to pRBFNNs. The hidden layer of the proposed classifier is built up by Fuzzy C-Means(FCM) clustering algorithm and the connection weights are defined as linear polynomial function. In the output layer, polynomial parameters are obtained by using Least Square Estimation (LSE). MNIST database known as one of the benchmark handwritten dataset is applied for the performance evaluation of the proposed classifier. The experimental results of the proposed system are compared with other existing classifiers.

  • In this paper, we propose the fusion design methodology of both pedestrian detection and object tracking system realized with the aid of HOG-PCA based RBFNN pattern classifier. The proposed system includes detection and tracking parts. In the detection part, HOG features are extracted from input images for pedestrian detection. Dimension reduction is also dealt with in order to improve detection performance as well as processing speed by using PCA which is known as a typical dimension reduction method. The reduced features can be used as the input of the FCM-based RBFNNs pattern classifier to carry out the pedestrian detection. FCM-based RBFNNs pattern classifier consists of condition, conclusion, and inference parts. FCM clustering algorithm is used as the activation function of hidden layer. In the conclusion part of network, polynomial functions such as constant, linear, quadratic and modified quadratic are regarded as connection weights and their coefficients of polynomial function are estimated by LSE-based learning. In the tracking part, object tracking algorithms such as mean shift(MS) and cam shift(CS) leads to trace one of the pedestrian candidates nominated in the detection part. Finally, INRIA person database is used in order to evaluate the performance of the pedestrian detection of the proposed system while MIT pedestrian video as well as indoor and outdoor videos obtained from IC&CI laboratory in Suwon University are exploited to evaluate the performance of tracking.

  • The purpose of this study is to distinguish the causes of broken glass on doors or windows when it is originally kept among the remains on the floor in fire site - whether it was broken due to heating or outer power-through test and characteristics of the broken plane including the pattern on the plane. Addition to it, the study tries to find characteristics to judge the point and direction of breakdown through the analysis of glass broken by outer power. With two assumed causes - a) breakdown due to heating and b) breakdown due to outer power-3 pieces of glass plates ($30cm{\times}30cm{\times}5mm$) were tested for each case, getting the results as following: First, for the glass broken due to the change of temperature, the broken plane is of slow and smooth curve without any pattern. Second, for the glass broken due to outer power, with the impact point as the center, the glass shows breakdown of radial type and the side shows breakdown of near-perpendicular type. The far the broken piece is from the impact point, the bigger the size is. The broken piece at the impact point is of long triangle type and the two long planes of the triangle shows semi-arc with the center of breakdown point and the other plane shows opposite pattern. Third, when glass that is damaged by outer power is heated, damaged forms and side patterns of the glass that is damaged by outer power are heated and disappeared.
