  • A systematic method of remeshing is required due to severe mesh distortion after some finite deformation in the finite element analysis of practical forging processes. In order to cope with the problem of mesh degeneracy during deformation, the proper design of meshes plays an improtant role in the analysis. In so-called "Modular Remeshing", the physical characteristics of metal flow and geometric characteristics are incorporated in "Module", which can be applied to the mesh design for a certain mode of deformation in so far as the topology of deforming region remains the same. For the purpose of more effective and systematic use of the modular remeshing scheme, an expert system has been developed in the framework of the proposed remeshing schemel. In oredr to show the effectiveness of the method, the rib-web type forging with axial relief or radial relief and spike forging are simulated. It has been thus shown that the proposed method of automatic remeshing by using modular remeshing and expert system can be futher extended and applied to various forging problems with complicated geometrical configurations.ical configurations.

다중 프로브 검사 계측 장비를 위한 단차 표준 인증 물질의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of a Step Height Certified Reference Material for Multi-probe Inspection Instruments)

  • Certified reference materials (CRMs) have been used to calibrate surface profilers for reliable measurements. In this paper, we present a newly designed step height CRM which has a step height pattern with two different widths and various special patterns for checking radial magnification, distortion of optical viewing systems, etc. Especially, it could be useful for multi-probe inspection instruments in the manufacturing lines. The fabrication was done by conventional optical lithography and dry etching process with optimized conditions. To verify the step height values, a white-light scanning interferometer was used with objective lenses having magnification of $10{\times}$ and $100{\times}$. CRMs with nominal step heights of $0.5\;{\mu}m$, $1\;{\mu}m$, $3\;{\mu}m$, $5\;{\mu}m$, $7\;{\mu}m$, and $10\;{\mu}m$ were fabricated and the uniformity of these CRMs was evaluated to be less than 3 nm ($1{\sigma}$).

  • 터빈 또는 압축기와 같은 터보기계의 성능을 평가하기 위해서는 입구의 유동을 측정해야 한다. 입구의 평균된 유동을 측정하기 위해서는 일반적으로 여러 개의 엘리먼트를 가진 레이크를 여러 개 사용해서 원주방향과 반경방향으로 평균된 유동을 사용한다. 그런데 터빈 입구에서 레이크를 사용하여 터빈 입구의 유동을 측정하면 레이크에서 유동을 측정한 후 레이크 자체가 손실을 일으키므로 터빈 입구에서의 전압력에 차이가 있을 뿐 아니라 교란된 유동이 터빈의 성능에 기대하지 않은 영향을 미치는 문제점이 있다. 그러므로 터빈 입구에 고정적으로 설치한 레이크로 측정한 데이터로는 정확한 터빈의 성능을 평가하는데 오차를 일으킨다. 본 연구에서는 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 터보기계의 시험시 레이크와 레이크 후단에서 프로브를 이용한 상세 유동 측정을 통하여 레이크의 손실을 측정하는 방법을 제안하였다. 그리고 이 방법을 사용하여 시험을 수행한 결과를 제시하였다.

스테레오 PIV 기법에 의한 임펠러 와류유동의 3차원 구조측정 (Identification on the Three-Dimensional Vortical Structures of Impeller Flow by a Multi-Plane Stereoscopic PIV Method)

  • The three-dimensional spatial structures of impeller flow created by a six bladed Rushton turbine have identified based on the volumetric velocity information from multi-plane stereoscopic PIV measurements. A total of 10 planes with 2 mm space and a 50 mm by 64 mm size of the field of view were targeted. To reduce the depth of focus, we adopted an angle offset configuration which satisfied the Scheimpflug condition. The distortion compensation procedure was utilized during the in situ calibration. Phase-locked instantaneous data were ensemble averaged and interpolated in order to obtain mean 3-D. volumetric velocity fields on a 60 degree sector of a cylindrical ring volume enclosing the turbine blade. Using the equi-vorticity surface rendering, the spatial structure of the trailing vortices was clearly demonstrated. Detail flow characteristics of the radial jet reported in previous studies of mixer flows were easily identified.

용접 형상 측정용 시각 센서 모듈 개발 (Development of Vision Sensor Module for the Measurement of Welding Profile)

  • The essential tasks to operate the welding robot are the acquisition of the position and/or shape of the parent metal. For the seam tracking or the robot automation, many kinds of contact and non-contact sensors are used. Recently, the vision sensor is most popular. In this paper, the development of the system which measures the profile of the welding part is described. The total system will be assembled into a compact module which can be attached to the head of welding robot system. This system uses the line-type structured laser diode and the vision sensor It implemented Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) for the camera calibration as well as radial distortion correction. The three dimensional shape of the parent metal is obtained after simple linear transformation and therefore, the system operates in real time. Some experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of the developed system.

  • The robot systems are widely used in the many industrial field as well as welding manufacturing. The essential tasks to operate the welding robot are the acquisition of the position and/or shape of the parent metal. For the seam tracking or the robot tracking, many kinds of contact and non-contact sensors are used. Recently, the vision is most popular. In this paper, the development of the system which measures the shape of the welding part is described. This system uses the line-type structured laser diode and the vision sensor. It includes the correction of radial distortion which is often found in the image taken by the camera with short focal length. The Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) method is used for the camera calibration. The three dimensional shape of the parent metal is obtained after simple linear transformation. Some demos are shown to describe the performance of the developed system.

  • 3D printing technology and its applications have grown rapidly in academia and industry. We consider a 3D printing system designed for the selective laser sintering (SLS) method, which is one of the powder bed fusion (PBF) techniques to build up the final product by layering sintered powder slices. Thermal distortion of printing products is a critical challenge in 3D printing. This study investigates temperature-dependent conformational behaviors of 3D printed samples of sintered poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) powders using molecular dynamics simulations. The wear and chemical resistance properties of PEEK are understood, as it is a well-known biocompatible material used for implants. However, studies on physical phenomena at nanoscale in PEEK are rarely published in public. We simulate dissipative particle dynamics to elucidate how a cavity regime forms in PEEK at different system temperatures. We demonstrate how PEEK structures deform subject to the system temperature distribution.

베어링 생산수율 향상을 위한 센서기반 품질 체크 모니터링 장치 (Quality Check Monitoring System for Advancing the Yield Rate based on Sensor)

  • 본 연구는 차량용 보링 생산 공정에서 기계적인 에러를 체크하기 위한 품질 체크용 모니터링 시스템을 개발한다. 기계적인 에러는 이상적인 절단경로와 비교하여 실제 절단경로의 공간위치 차이에서 나타난다. 제조공정 제품의 오차를 모니터하기 위해 제품의 인지왜곡, 죄임 에러, 기계공구의 회전과 운동에러의 반경회전과 같이 보링 품질에 영향을 미치는 다수 요소들을 설명한다. 생산품질을 입증하기 위해 IT 융합에 기반한 공정 에러율을 분석하고 분석 데이터를 메모리에 저장하는 품질체크 방법을 제안한다. 따라서 불량 생산 제품을 감지함으로써, 생산 코스트와 베어링의 손실을 줄일 수 있다.

Numerical analysis on the critical current evaluation and the correction of no-insulation HTS coil

  • The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61788-26:2020 provides guidelines for measuring the critical current of Rare-earth barium copper oxide (REBCO) tapes using two methods: linear ramp and step-hold methods. The critical current measurement criterion, 1 or 0.1 μV/cm of electric field from IEC 61788-26 has been normally applied to REBCO coils or magnets. No-insulation (NI) winding technique has many advantages in aspects of electrical and thermal stability and mechanical integrity. However, the leak current from the NI REBCO coil can cause distortion in critical current measurement due to the characteristic resistance which causes the radial current flow paths. In this paper, we simulated the NI REBCO coil by applying both linear ramp and step-hold methods based on a simplified equivalent circuit model. Using the circuit analysis, we analyzed and evaluated both methods. By using the equivalent circuit model, we can evaluate the critical current of the NI REBCO coil, resulting in an estimation error within 0.1%. We also evaluate the accuracy of critical current measurement using both the linear ramp and step-hold methods. The accuracy of the linear ramp method is influenced by the inductive voltage, whereas the accuracy of the step-hold method depends on the duration of the hold-time. An adequate hold time, typically 5 to 10 times the time constant (τ), makes the step-hold method more accurate than the linear ramp method.

KSR-III 축소형(I) 엔진의 연소 시험 (Hot Fire Tests of the KSR-III Sub.(I) Engines)

  • KSR-III 축소(I) 기본형 엔진에 대한 연소 시험을 실시한 결과 분사면의 내열 특성이 불량한 것으로 판명되었으며, 이에 기본형 엔진의 설계를 다각도로 수정한 축소(I) 수정형 엔진을 제작하게 되었다. 주요 설계 파라미터는 주분사기의 배열, 주분사기의 충돌각, 열차폐코팅이었으며 이들에 대한 시험적 연구를 수행하고 각 디자인에 대한 엔진 성능 및 내열 성능을 비교하였다. 내열 성능은 직교배열의 경우, 주분사기 충돌각이 작은 경우, 열차폐 코팅이 있는 경우 향상되는 경향을 보였으며, 일부는 30초 시험을 통해서 적절한 내열 성능을 보여주었다. 그에 따른 엔진 성능의 변화를 살펴보면 5% 범위 이내에서 성능 차이를 보이는데, 방사배열의 경우가 직교배열의 경우보다 성능이 높고, 주분사기 충돌각 $15^{\circ}$의 경우가 $20^{\circ}$의 경우보다 오히려 높게 나타났다. 또한, 저주파 연소불안정성의 측면에서는 충돌각이 작을수록, 방사형 배열보다는 직교형 배열의 경우 불안정 특성이 큰 것으로 판명되었다. 이러한 내열 성능 및 엔진 성능의 변화는 분무 특성의 변화 및 이에 의한 화염 구조의 변화에 기인하는 것으로 보이며, 보다 심도 있는 분석을 위해 추가적인 연구가 필요하다.
