  • This paper describes fuzzy radial basis function networks(FRBFN) extracting fuzzy rules through the learning from training data set. The proposed FRBFN is derived from the functional equivalence between RBF networks and fuzzy inference systems. The FRBFN learn by assigning new fuzzy rules and updating the parameters of existing fuzzy rules. The parameters of the FRBFN are adjusted using the standard LMS algorithm. The performance of the FRBFN is illustrated with function approximation and system identification.

  • Winding is one of the major processes in roll-to-roll systems. Taper tension profile in a winding determines the distribution of stress in the radial direction, i.e., the radial stress in the wound rolls. Maximum radial stress is major cause of material defect, and this study has been actively proceeded. Traditional models of radial stress model were focused on flexible and light substrate. In this study, we developed an advanced radial stress model including effects of both these parameters(weight and stiffness) on the radial stress. The accuracy of the developed model was verified through FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis. FEM result of maximum radial stress value corresponds to 99 % in comparison to result with the model. From this study, the material defects does not occur when the steel winding. And steel industry can be applied to improve the winding process.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find the effects of Sa-am liver tonifying and sedating acupuncture on radial pulse. Methods : Sixty healthy people were divided into a liver tonifying acupuncture(LTA) group, liver sedating acupuncture(LSA) group, and control group. The LTA group and LSA group received acupuncture for 20 minutes with a supine position. The Control group took a rest without receiving acupuncture. Radial pulse was measured by three dimensional pulse imaging system(DMP-3000) at four different time points (before, right after, 30 minutes after, and 60 minutes after acupuncture). We compared the three groups and figure out determined the parameters which significantly changed after acupuncture treatment. Results : 1. Pulse period, T1/T, T4/T, (T-T4)/T, T4/(T-T4), T5/T significantly changed after acupuncture. 2. H4, pulse area, systolic pulse area, diastolic pulse area, radial augmentation index(RAI), and pulse power volume / min significantly changed after acupuncture. 3. Frequency of Fourier components, ratio of frequencies of Fourier components, magnitude of Fourier components, and ratio of magnitudes of Fourier components significantly changed after acupuncture. Conclusions : LTA and LSA have an effect on the radial pulse parameters. Further studies on radial pulse change using Sa-Am acupuncture are needed.

  • The approximation of the radial distribution functions(RDF) of mixture plays an important role in deriving the mixing rules for the corresponding states principle(CSP). The mean density approximation(MDA), one of the most successful approximations, fails to predict the radial distribution functions when the size ratio in terms of the Lennard-Jones size parameters is greater than 1.5. To get a better prediction of important structural integrals over the radial distribution functions that arise in the asymmetrical attraction contribution of the perturbaton theory, the new type of mean density approximation(NTMDA) is proposed. With this NTMDA, quite reliable results for those integrals for systems with comparatively large ratio of the size parameters are obtained.

  • In the beginning of this study, pressure in a cylinder and flow rate from a cylinder of a rotating-cam and fixed-cylinder type radial piston pump are investigated through numerical simulations, so that the simulation results might be utilized as basements for examining physical phenomena occurring in the pump assembly. Then, for supplying basic knowledge on pump design, pressure, flow and leakage characteristics of the pump assembly under the variations of major design parameters are investigated through numerical simulations. At the end, key design parameters influencing upon volumetric efficiency of the pump are listed.

  • The present paper develops application of third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) and modified couple stress theory (MCST) to size-dependent bending analysis of a functionally graded cylindrical micro-shell. The radial and axial displacement components are described based on TSDT for more accurate analysis. The effect of small scales is accounted based on MCST. The principle of virtual work is used for derivation of bending governing equations. The solution is presented for a simply-supported boundary condition to account the influence of various important parameters such as micro length scale parameter, in-homogeneous index and some dimensionless geometric parameters such as length to radius and length to thickness ratios on the bending results. A comparative analysis is presented to examine the effect of order of employed shear deformation theory on the axial and radial displacements.

  • In this paper, Ire present the result of feature points recognition and classification of radial pulse by the shape of pulse wave. The recognition algorithm use the method which runs in parallel with both the data of ECG and differential pulse simultaneously to recognize the feature points. Also we specified 3-time elements of pulse wave as main parameters for diagnosis and measured them by execution of algorithm. then we classify the shape of radial pulse by existence and position of feature points.

  • This study was conducted to find objective diagnostic indicators for the Eight Principle Pattern Identification using a pulse wave analyzer. Typology Complexion Pulse and Symptom data from 500 women over the age of 18 were used. Five experts made a diagnosis of Eight Principle Pattern Identification and divided the subjects into 'Yin-Yang', 'Exterior-Interior', 'Cold-Heat', 'Deficiency-Excess' groups. Their pulse waves were measured in the left and right radial arteries, and it was investigated whether there was a significant difference between groups in the pulse wave parameter values. 'Yin' group showed a significantly lower value in the left radial artery for Ener, Emin, EIX, T4T, T4TT parameters and in the Right for T2, T2T, T5. The Vmag, As and Ad parameters were significantly different between the 'Exterior' and 'Interior' groups. 'Heat' group showed a significantly higher value in the right radial artery for RAI/t parameter. 'Deficiency' group showed a significantly higher value in the right radial artery for W, Angl parameters. Through this study, significant pulse wave parameters were found, and they can be used as objective diagnostic indicators for Eight Principle Pattern Identification.

  • Objectives: This study was aimed to evaluate the hemodynamic feasibility using pulse parameters as a way to establish safe dose guidelines for herbal prescription containing Ephedra herb (Ephedra intermedia Schrenk & C.A.Mey) on weight loss, and to provide a foundation for developing evidence-based guidelines for clinical use. Methods: Forty-two volunteers were recruited to participate in a study examining the changes in pulse wave characteristics following the ingestion of Gambi-hwan, a herbal prescription containing ephedra, over a period of 4 weeks, and pulse wave measurements were taken before and after the administration. Pulse wave parameters were measured in this study using a 3-dimensional radial pulse tonometry device (DMP-Lifeplus). In addition, questionnaire, blood pressure, temperature, and body composition were also measured as secondary measures. Results: Fifteen minutes after administration of Gambi-hwan, the non-adverse event group (non-AE) exhibited a statistically significant increase in several power and pressure-related parameters, including h1, h5, systolic area, pulse area, and pulse width, while the AE group showed a trend of decreasing stroke volume and increasing Radial Augmentation Index (RAI), w, and w/t. After 4 weeks of administration, both groups exhibited significant changes in pulse rate, w/t, RAI, t3/t, stroke volume (SV), and stroke volume Index (SVI). Notably, there are significant differences between AE group and non-AE group in w/t, SV, and SVI. Conclusions: These findings suggest that pulse parameters may be a useful way to establish safe dosing guidelines for weight loss herbal prescription containing ephedra. Further research is needed to confirm these results and to develop evidence-based guidelines for clinical use.
