Evaluation of Calcium Carbonate Saturation Indices in Water (상수 원수 수질의 탄산칼슘 포화지수 평가)

  • In order to examine the corrosiveness of tap water, we studied methods calculating various indices including calcium carbonate saturation indices, using RTW model and LPLWIN model. Indices such as LI, RI and AI could be computed using the RTW model, whereas the LPLWIN model could find indices as LI, LR and CCPP. With water quality data obtained from tap water of Han River and Nak-Dong River watersheds, based on the indices found from the models, the water quality of the Nak-Dong River is better than that of Han River in the point of resisting corrosiveness. Further, the water quality of winter is highly corrosive than that of summer, as long as the temperature rises up, the corrosiveness is reduced.

A Study on Actual Condition of Sizing System of Women′s RTW Apparel Brands in Korea (한국 여성복 브랜드의 치수 체계 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The manufacturer first identifies a target market before developing a sizing chart. A target market is specific for age or figure type. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the suitability of sizing system of women's apparel brand in Korea. For this purpose, the characteristics of the manufacture's sizing chart for jacket and skirt/pants were analyzed. For each brand, the target age of the brand and the age of consumers who preferred that bland were compared. The size charts collected from 27 women's apparel brands were analyzed and compared with Korean industrial standard sifting chart. The results of this study reviled that the body proportion in many manufacturer's sizing chart does not correspond to the body types in Korean industrial standard sizing chart. This trend was apparent for the short figure sizes made for women 155cm in height. There is a difference between the target age in brand concept and the age of consumer preferring to purchase that brand apparel. The age of fitting models usually does not correspond the customer's age. It was concluded that the age of target customer does not go well with the age of brand concept nor the fitting model age caused fit problem of the women's ready-made clothes.

DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DISTRIBUTED HARDWARE-IN-THE-LOOP SIMULATOR FOR AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEMS

  • A distributed hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) platform is developed for designing an automotive engine control system. The HILS equipment consists of a widely used PC and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) I/O boards instead of a powerful computing system and custom-made I/O boards. The distributed structure of the HILS system supplements the lack of computing power. These features make the HILS equipment more cost-effective and flexible. The HILS uses an automatic code generation extension, REAL-TIME WORKSHOP$^{ (RTW$^{) of MATLAB$^{ tool-chain and RT-LAB$^{, which enables distributed simulation as well as the detection and generation of digital event between simulation time steps. The mean value engine model, which is used in control design phase, is imported into this HILS. The engine model is supplemented with some I/O subsystems and I/O boards to interface actual input and output signals in real-time. The I/O subsystems are designed to imitate real sensor signals with high fidelity as well as to convert the raw data of the I/O boards to the appropriate forms for proper interfaces. A lot of attention is paid to the generation of a precise crank/ earn signal which has the problem of quantization in a conventional fixed time step simulation. The detection of injection! command signal which occurs between simulation time steps are also successfully compensated. In order to prove the feasibility of the proposed environment, a simple PI controller for an air-to-fuel ratio (AFR) control is used. The proposed HILS environment and I/O systems are shown to be an efficient tool to develop various control functions and to validate the software and hardware of the engine control system.
