In case of a dangerous situation, the roof, which serves as an emergency exit, must be open in case of fire according to the Fire Act. However, when the roof door is opened, it has become a place of various incidents and accidents such as illegal entry, crime, and suicide. As a result, it is a reality to close the roof door in terms of facility management to prevent crime, various incidents, and accidents. Accordingly, the government is pushing to legislate regulations on housing construction standards, etc. that mandate the installation of electronic automatic opening and closing devices on rooftop doors. Therefore, in this paper, an intelligent emergency door opening/closing device system is proposed. To this end, an intelligent emergency door opening and closing system was developed by linking wired and wireless access counting and AI image analysis. Finally, it is possible to build a wireless communication-based integrated management platform that provides remote control and history management in a centralized method of device status real-time monitoring and event alarm.

In this paper, we propose an example of designing and constructing a roof-type solar power plant structure equipped with a Pseudo-BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaic) shape suitable for use as a roof of a small warehouse with a sandwich-type panel structure. As the characteristics of the roof-type solar power generation facility to be installed in the small warehouse proposed in this study, the shape of the roof is not a general A type, but a right-angled triangle shape with the slope is designed to face south. We chose a structure in which an inverter for one power plant and a control facility are linked by grouping several roofs of buildings. In addition, the height of the roof structure is less than 20 cm from the floor, and it has a shape similar to that of the BIPV, so it is building-friendly because it is almost in close contact with the roof. At the same time, the roof creates a reflective light source due to the white color. By linking this roof with a double-sided solar panel, we designed it to obtain both the advantage of the roof-friendliness and the advantage of efficiency improvement for the electric power generation based on the double-sided panel. Compared to the existing solar power generation facilities using A-shaped cross-sectional modules, the power generation efficiency of roofs in this case is increased by more than 11%, which we can confirm, through the comparison analysis of monitoring data between power plants in the same area. Therefore, if the roof-type solar structure suitable for the small warehouse we have presented in this paper is used, the facilities of electric power generation is eco-friendly. Further it is easier to obtain facility certification compared to the BIPV, and improved capacity of the power generation can be secured at low material cost. It is believed that the roof-type solar power generation facility we proposed can be usefully used for warehouse or factory-based smart housing. Sensor devices for monitoring, CCTV monitoring, or safety and environment management, operating in connection with the solar power generation facilities, are linked with the Internet of Things (IoT) solution, so they can be monitored and controlled remotely.
This study aimed to evaluate the ability to reduce flood damage caused by abnormal rainfall events due to climate change by utilizing a blue-green roof (BGF), a type of rooftop greening technology. For two buildings with the same roof area, a BGF was installed in the experimental group, a general roof was configured in the control group, and rainfall runoff was compared. A total of 10 rainfall events were tested and analyzed by classifying them into three rainfall classes (less than 10 mm, less than 100 mm, and more than 100 mm). There was a reduction of 100% in the case of 10 mm or less of rainfall, 84. 7% in the case of 100 mm or less, and 39.8% in the case of 100 mm or more. Although this study showed that a BGF was effective in reducing rainfall runoff, additional experiments and analyses of various factors affecting rainfall runoff reduction are needed to generalize the results of the study. This research methodology may be used to develop a method for evaluating the resilience of a BGF to flood damage due to climate change.
As the availability of high-resolution satellite imagery increases, improvement of positioning accuracy of satellite images is required. The importance of orthorectified images is also increasing, which removes relief displacement and establishes true localization of man-made structures. In this paper, we performed automated extraction of building rooftops and total building areas within original satellite images using the existing building height database. We relocated the rooftop sin their true position and generated an orthorectified building layer. The extracted total building areas were used to blank out building areas and generate true orthographic non-building layer. A final orthorectified image was provided by overlapping the building layer and non-building layer.We tested the proposed method with KOMPSAT-3 and KOMPSAT-3A satellite images and verified the results by overlapping with a digital topographical map. Test results showed that orthorectified building layers were generated with a position error of 0.4m.Through the proposed method, the feasibility of automated true orthoimage generation within dense urban areas was confirmed.
It is undeniable that urban greenspace is the soul of a city. Conventional urban greenspace such as parks, community gardens, playgrounds etc. located within a city reduce the negative effects of pollution, play a major role in the survival of the urban ecosystem, and promote healthy lifestyles. Today, 55% of the world's population lives in urban areas, which is expected to increase to 68% by 2050. Projections show that urbanization and the gradual migration to urban areas combined with the fast growth of the world's population, could add another 2.5 billion people to urban areas by 2050 and almost 90% of this increase will take place in Asia(UN, 2018). As a result, many plots in the cities are and will continue to be occupied with buildings to provide residential support to the increased population. This will dangerously decrease urban greenspaces. Moreover, worldwide, food crisis, energy crisis, and social crisis is posing a great threat to the existence of mankind. Additionally, the COVID - 19 has introduced a new lifestyle where from work culture to community configuration has drastically transformed. In this scenario, residential buildings will have to serve more than just providing privacy and shelter. As urban greenspaces are being occupied by concrete residential buildings, these buildings will have to compensate for the percentage of urban green they are destroying and the issues they are imposing in the process. The goal of this thesis is to design, architecturally define and, categorize comprehensive 'sustainable Greenspace'(S.G.S) for the multi-family housing scenario. These will be different than the conventional green (veranda, rooftop green) we commonly see in residential buildings. An old, dilapidated apartment building will be the target of remodeling to fulfill the purpose of this thesis.

Focusing on the creation of a new han ok, especially a mid-rise hybrid-structured Han-ok, this study proposes a middle-rise (four-story) Han-ok on one and two lots located in Seoun-dong, the existing Han-ok intensive housing site in downtown Cheongju. 1) In terms of layout and function, according to the existing L-shaped Han-ok corresponding to the road and the direction, the parking lots and shops on the 1st floor, the business facility on the 2nd floor, the Han-ok on the 3rd and 4th floors are placed. There are yards, open roof yards, and semi-open Daecheong(大廳, main hall), which can be shared by residents. 2) In terms of structure and form, one or two floors (some 3 floors) are 5.4m square and 5.4×6.6m modules of the RC(Reinforced Concrete) group, and the upper floor reflects the 2.7m module, size and shape of the existing Han-ok. By extending the outer wall of the RC group in the lower floors (1st to 3rd floors) to the wooden exterior of the upper floors (2nd to 4th floors), it is attempted to avoid the awkward appearance of the RC group being exposed to wooden structures. And it is also attempted to reflect the wooden shape and design elements through the elevation elements such as horizontal windows, corner windows, picture frames, and vertical slits. 3) In environmental control and facilities, it is attempted to smooth the ventilation of the building by forming a vertical upward airflow from the dark space of the low floor to the positive of the upper floor. This doubles the effect through a vertical rise of cold air generated in a narrow alleyway, piloti parking lot, and the various voids. In addition to the Daecheong and Numaru(loft) of Han ok, the rooftop yard, the terrace, and the balcony, horizontal natural ventilation is generated through divided doors and transom windows.

This study was conducted to obtain basic data on efficient and eco-friendly crop cultivation for urban residents who enjoy urban agriculture as a hobby or leisure activity. We planted strawberry(Fragaria x ananassa)(S) and kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris var. humilis)(K) in different ratios to analyze the differences in soil environment, growth, physiology, and productivity, and to investigate the effects. Strawberry growth was optimal with S1K2 ratio, whereas the S1K1 ratio treatment showed the highest levels of physiology and productivity. In terms of growth and physiology, kidney beans tended to perform best in S1K2 treatment. The average number of productive pods was two, with a highest average value of 2.3 being recorded in S2K1 treatment planted with a high percentage of strawberries. In terms of growth, physiology, and prodctivity our findings indicate that it would be desirable to plant starwberries and kidney bean in a 1:1 ratio. However, considering the environmental characteristics of walls and rooftops, it is necessary to effectively manage crops suitable for these conditions. Furthermore, additional studies should be conducted to analyze the quality of fruits and seeds producted, both qualitatively and quantitatively in the future.

This study will define the features of the viewpoint that best enables the view of Busan Port from Young-Do. Special focus will be on spatial distribution, the type Busan Port sights that can be experienced from Young-Do, the compositional characteristic of a port landscape and visual characteristic. The results are based on 27 selected viewpoints and are as follows. Firstly, the patterns of the spatial distribution of viewpoints are classified as park, public facility and wayside types. It was found that most viewpoints are located along a wayside. Secondly, the types of Busan Port sights that can be experienced from Young-Do are divided into three kinds: surrounding stand-line type, facing the port and the type of penetrating city. The major type was of penetrating city among the three patterns. The reason for this is that the point of view for Busan Port was changed into a prospect over the sea since city and road sections have been expanding due to the urbanization of Young-Do. Thirdly, the compositional characteristics of the port landscape are divided into three styles: panoramic, corridor, and rooftop. The most frequent type is the rooftop style among the three characteristics. This fact indicates that the picture of Busan Port seen from Young-Do loses continuity of view and that housetops inhibit the sense of distance. Lastly, the visual characteristics of the viewpoint were analyzed. The angles of the declination of the viewpoints are concentrated on the horizontally closed parts. Thirteen points lie between $-3^{\circ}$ and $-1^{\circ}$, and twelve points between $-6^{\circ}$ and $-4^{\circ}$. The visual axes of the depression are two points because sight is interrupted by buildings which are built when the city expands. Two viewpoints for experiencing the optimum landscape of depression should be prepared to ensure continuous preservation of the viewpoints. The sight creates a wide prospect, reaching from 0.2km to 6.4km. It is expected that the results of this study can be used for the landscape plans of port cities including the management and preservation of viewpoints.

What are the roles and functions of urban gardening created by citizens in Sujin 2-dong, Seongnam-si? This study has looked into urban gardening in everyday life in a bid to find possible solutions for sustainable urban regeneration. The paper has examined the types, functions, and characteristics of urban gardens in Sujin 2-dong, where the urban restoration project is in progress. This study has conducted primarily on-site inspections and interviews. The research findings are as follows. Most urban gardens in Sujin 2-dong have a vertical structure rather than a regular ground-based one due to lack of land. Six major locations of building a garden include the front of a building, rooftop, top of a gate, stairs, wall, and yard. Rooftop gardens are most common and are built mostly for production purposes. Due to architectural characteristics of this village, there are relatively many stair gardens built mostly for aesthetic purposes. The garden in front of a building has served multiple functions, including formation of entry, privacy protection, and prevention of unauthorized parking. Other than those, detached houses have quality urban gardens built with greater effort and care, while multi-household houses have seen a decrease of stair gardens and an increase of vertical gardens due to their comparatively limited space. By utilizing this research, we hope to show that it is important to understand the local's wisdom and voice for a sustainable urban environment as well as keep these findings in mind during the construction of new buildings. This study would be expected to be useful as primary research for urban gardening in everyday life and alternative ways of urban regeneration.

To alleviate the urban heat island phenomenon, this study aims to quantitatively analyze the effects of neighborhood green spaces on the improvement of the thermal environment based on detailed scenarios of five types of green spaces, including parks, pocket parks, parking lot greening, roadside planting, and rooftop-wall greening. The ENVI-met 4.4.6v model, a microclimate simulation program, was used to analyze the effects of green spaces. As a result, it was found that the air temperature decreased as the planting density of the park increased, but the thermal comfort index PET, which is the degree of heat sensation felt by humans, was not directly proportional to temperature. The establishment of a pocket park reduced air temperature up to a radius of 56m, while the range of temperature reduction increased by about 12.5% when three additional pocket parks were established at 250m intervals. Unlike the air temperature, PET was only affected in the vicinity of the planted area, so there was no significant difference in the thermal comfort of the surrounding environment due to the construction of pocket parks. Changing the surface pavement from asphalt to lawn blocks and implementing rooftop or wall greening did not directly act as solar shading but positively affected air temperature reduction; PET showed no significant difference. Roadside planting showed a higher air temperature reduction effect as the planting interval was narrower, but PET was not directly proportional to tree density. In the case of shrub planting under trees, it did not significantly affect the air temperature reduction but positively affected the improvement of thermal comfort. This study can outline strategies for constructing neighborhood green spaces to solve the urban heat island phenomena and establish detailed strategies for efficient thermal environment improvements.
