Nearly NS-trending Fe-Ti ore bodies intermittently occur in the Hadong anorthosites, south Korea, irrespective of the rock types of the anorthosites. In order to determine their occurrence mode and deformation history, we collected the features of occurrence and geological structures in the field, petrographic features using thin sections of the principal constituent rocks, and geochemical data of ilmenites in the ore body using electron probe microanalysis. Fe-Ti ore bodies examined in this study are divided into two types: dike- and lamina-types. It is steadily supported that the dike-type has intruded into the anorthositic rocks after their emplacement and solidification. And the laminar-type is probably a result of the mylonitization and transposition of the dike-type ore bodies parallel to the shear planes, due to later strong dextral ductile shearing. In the meantime, the Fe-Ti ore bodies have experienced the stronger dextral shearing in the more northern part of the study area, i.e. Cheongryong-ri, Wolhoeng-ri, Jonghwa-ri, and Jayangri and Baekun-ri in ascending order of its strength, together with the less content of $TiO_2$. All ilmenites of the ore bodies have very similar chemical composition, as pure ilmenite of 52~55 wt.% in $TiO_2$ content, irrespective of the occurrence mode and degree of later ductile shearing of the ore bodies. And they didn't experience to exsolve into magnetite. The structural data indicate that the Hadong anorthosites have deformed by NNE-trending folding, intrusion of the Fe-Ti ore bodies, NNW~NNE-trending dextral ductile shearing, NW~NNW-trending sinistral semi-brittle shearing, and intrusion of NNE~NE-trending mafic dykes in descending order of chronology after the formation of foliation of the anorthositic rocks. The foliation is interpreted as a result of the accumulation of crystals that settle out from the magma by the action of gravity.
Cretaceous granitic rocks in the Waryongsan area occur as a stock and show compositional changes with altitude. They include mafic microgranular enclaves (MME) with various sizes and types. The MMEs present clear evidence of magma mingling such as supercooling zone, mantling texture and back veining. The granitic rocks are divided into porphyritic granite, porphyritic granodiorite and fined-grained granite by their petrographic characteristics and modal compositions. The MMEs are discriminated to quartzdioritie, quartzmonzodiorite and tonalite. They have varying areal proportions in each granitic rock-type: 10∼l5% in the porphyritic granite, about 50% in the porphyritic granodiorite, and about 20% in the fined-grained granite. SiO₂ contents shows compositional change of 61.2∼72.0wt.%. Mean SiO₂ contents have 61.7wt.% in the porphyritic granodiorite, 68.6wt.% in the porphyritic granite. and 71.9wt.% in the fined-grained granite, respectively. Major oxide contents of the granitic rocks linearly vary with SiO₂ contents from the porphyiritic granodiorite to the fine-grained granite on Harker diagrams. Linear compositional variations seem to have been caused by differential degrees of mingling between mafic magma and host granite. Where larger amount of mafic magma was injected into the host granitic magma, the two magmas reached to thermal equilibrium more quickly and eventually chemical mixing occurred to produce the composition of the porphyritic granodiorite. On the other hand. less amount of injected mafic magma would have been responsible for mechanical mixing to produce the compositions of the porphyritic granite and the fined-grained granite. Therefore, it is considered that the granitic rocks in the Waryongsan area experienced magmas mingling resulting from the injection of more mafic magma into differentiating granitic magma, and that the compositional changes of the granitic rocks were ascribed to the degree of mingling between the two magmas.
The charnockite of Jirisan area occurs within the Precambrian high grade metamorphic terrane associated with anorthosite body as many foreign examples. Sm-Nd ages were determined from whole rock-garnet pairs, which turned out $1827\pm$32($2\sigma$) Ma for the massive charnockite and $1820\pm$22(2$\sigma$) Ma for the foliated charnockite with $$\varepsilon$_{Nd}(T)$ of $-5.5\pm$0.2 and $-6.0\pm$0.5 respectively. $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ initial ratios calculated with the these ages are 0.71319 and 0.71532 respectively. The fact that massive and foliated charnockites show identical age, identical Nd isotopic initial ratio, and similar Sr isotopic initial ratios suggest that they were generated at the same time from the same material even through their present textures are different. Initial ratios of Nd and Sr of the charnockites are quite distinct from the mantle values indicating the influence of continental crust. Sm-Nd age determined from the titanium bearing anorthositic rocks intruding the anorthosite body, using mineral separates of garnet, plagioclase, and mafic fraction, is $1792\pm$90(2$\sigma$) Ma with $$\varepsilon$_{Nd}(T)=-3.9$\pm$0.2$. The ^${87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ initial ratios calculated with this age are 0.70616~0.70619. The charnockites and the anorthositic rocks occurring in contact each other also reveal the same age within the error, which suggest a genetic relationship between them. However, chemical compositions of the charnockites and Hadong-Sancheong anorthosites cannot be explained by igneous differentiation. Their differences in Nd and Sr initial isotopic ratios indicate different source materials. Therefore, temporal association between them suggests the possibility of the anorthosite acting as a thermal source for the generation of the charnockite as other studies.
The Stele for National Preceptor Hongbeop from the Jeongtosa Temple site in Chungju is one of the most important stone cultural heritage items for exemplifying the style of the Goryeo era. Despite its obvious value, this relic has been stored in a weathered condition at the National Museum of Korea. It had suffered various dismantling and displacements during the Japanese colonial period and had long been exposed in the open air. The stele was selected as a subject for the Stone Monuments Restoration Project launched by the National Museum of Korea in 2015. In preparation for its outdoor exhibition as part of the restoration project, this study investigated the characteristics of its materials, produced a map of its deterioration from weathering, and carried out ultrasonic analysis of the materials to provide findings useful for conservation treatment. The materials analysis revealed that the turtle-shaped pedestal of the stele was made from two-mica granite consisting of medium-grained quartz, plagioclase, alkali feldspar, biotite, and muscovite. Its body stone is crystalline marble, the rock-forming mineral in which is medium-grained calcite in a rose-pink color with dark grey spots. The dragon top of the stele is made of crystalline marble, the major component of which is medium-grained calcite of a light-grey color. The deterioration consists of 21.5% abrasion on the stone body, with its south face most damaged, and 18.6% granular disintegration, with the north face most damaged. The ultrasonic material characterization conducted for mapping the general condition of weathering shows low values on the parts-assembly area of the turtle-shaped pedestal and on the upper portion of the stone body. It is considered that there is dislocation due to partial blistering and fracturing as well as to the differences in surface treatment. Prior to the outdoor exhibition of the stele, the surface was cleaned of contaminants and was consolidated based on the scientific investigation in order to prevent weathering from the external environment.

Many trails have been built and utilized in each sub-basin of Apsan Park. This study focused on the conditions and the present flora of several overused trails within three basins called Kun-Gol, Anjiroung-Gol, and Meaja-Gol in Apsan Park. There are two purposes for this study. The first is to make a plan for restoration by classifying the type of damage to these overused trails. The second is to provide preliminary data for reestablishing a more pleasant urban nature park. As a result of the survey, the average length of these trails is 9.0km and mean width is 2.0 to 2.6m. 2,108m of the sections studied(23.4% of the total) had exposed root, 3,199m of the sections studied (35.5% of the total) had exposed rock, 3,270m of the sections studied(36.6% of the total) displayed damaged pathways, and 4,841m of the sections studied (53.8% of the total) had higher soil hardness. Eighty-three areas of deterioration were found and there has been extensive property destruction. As an indication of human disturbances, the Naturalization Index and Urbanization Index appeared as: Kun-Gol, 7.0%, 5.5%; Anjiroung-Gol, 8.3%, 4.5%; Meaja-Gol 8.6%, 6.2%; in total, 7.8%, 8.3%. As a method of checking the level and extent of the damage process, an impact rating classification was used at each point on the trails. Kun-Gol had the highest rating and Anjiroung-Gol had the lowest rating in impact rating classification. With the impact rating classification, it was found that each trail would continue to worsen, meaning that roots and rocks are more likely to be further exposed and the trail width will continue to widen through overuse. An actual plan for reparations and restoration of the trails is needed through further study.
Objective: The present study was carried out to induce differentiation of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) into germ cells and to establish a culture condition for single hESCs dissociated by enzyme. Methods: Embryonic body (EB) was formed by hanging drop culture for 3 days from hESCs colony. The EBs were cultured in the medium supplemented with retionic acid (RA) or/and bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP4) for 14 days to differentiate into germ cells. Germ cell specific markers, c-kit and VASA were used for immunohistochemistry of EB. Human ESCs colonies were dissociated into single cells by Collagenase, Tryple and Accutase, and then colony formation rate of the single cells was examined. Rho-associated kinase inhibitor (ROCK inhibitor, Y27632) was added into the culture medium of single cells to reduce the apoptotic damage during the dissociation. Results: Single cells dissociated with Tryple or Accutase showed higher colony formation rates compared to the cells dissociated with Collagenase. Seeding of $5{\times}10^3$ cells/well (4 well dish) was efficient to obtain high colony formation rate compared to other concentrations of seeding cell. Addition of Y27632 significantly increased the colony formation rate of the single cells dissociated by Tryple. Immunohistochemistry of EB with c-kit and VASA markers showed a weak fluorescence signals compared to the signals from the testicular tissue. Conclusion: Dissociation with Tryple was useful to obtain healthy single cells and addition of Y27632 was beneficial for survival and colony formation of the single cells. Unlike other studies, we just observed a dim fluorescence staining of the germ cell markers, probably caused by the short-term culture for the differentiation of EB compared to other studies.
This study was performed to introduce ecological education program as for reporting the current vegetation state within the remaining trees as ecological golf course and to provide basic data. The survey site was S Golf course, which is located in Woonseodong, Incheon city. Its total area was about $3,298,428m^2$, but the relict forest was about $225,143m^2$. Existing landuse, topological structure, the flora, actual vegetation, and plants community structure survey were performed within the relict forest. As result of comparing and analyzing the existing land use, the relict forest was distributed in the forested areas (89.2%) and around the area (10.8%) which had been bare land and SAMMOK earthen ramparts. There were two courses (Ocean and Hanul) with the relict forests. The ocean course was compared of a natural forest, such as Quercus spp. mixed forest, Quercus acutissima forest, Pinus thunbergii forest within the rock fields, and an artificial forest (Ailanthus altissima-Robinia pseudoacacia forest, Robinia pseudoacacia forest) and Quercus acutissima - Elaeagnus umbellata forest. On the Hanul course, Pinus rigida forest and Robinia pseudoacacia forest were the main vegetation, which were artificial forest. It was the contrast aspect of vegetation species in a natural forest, a restoration forest and an artificial forest, which were Q. spp. mixed forest 26~28 species in a natural forest within the vegetation type per investigation area, 3 Pinus thunbergii forest species, and 5~7 artificial forest species on the Hanul course. Based on these vegetation status, the Ocean course was designed into ecological theme spaces named 'Quercus spp.' indigenous forest, 'Pinus thunbergii' restoration forest and ecological story of 'SAMMOK earthen ramparts'. The Hannul course was designed into an artificial forest observation area of 'Robinia pseudoacacia' and 'Pinus rigida' and a fragrance forest area of 'Robinia pseudoacacia'. At the time of the discussion about the introduction of eco-friendly approval system of golf course, it would be estimated that this survey would work as a major material not only raising awareness of the golf course on the ecological environment but also providing programs that can contribute to the community.

Landscape Garden tradition of excellent examples of places that are focused on hydroponics management. South Korea and China, this thing was noticeable among them South Korea which emphasizes the natural contours of the natural streams in accordance with the basic idea to use examples that feature will do. Gardens in China by constructing a flat terrain also naturally expect to find examples of conscious ideas depending on the water and the mountains are characterized. These differences and similarities through the Gardens of the tradition of separating the two countries to build their Garden by site Soswaewon and Zolzengwon appear in the target hand is to identify the characteristics between the director. Research methods literature survey, field survey of the natural environment through the plantation, background history, the people who intend to study, to configure the ground water space, Jian, construction and management has been studied in hydroponics. As a result, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, South Korea in the Garden of the Soswaewon(瀟灑園) organization with inner garden and outer garden of a small, but the scale of production to Yang San-Bo's 'eunilgwan' implement security based rock mooring takes the form of a linear channel and the water came down from riding pending to avoid artifacts gathered again took the form of streams flowing into that. Hutton was a rubble pile structure Jian. Building an Gwangpunggak, Jewoldang, as Daebongdae consist, respectively, depending on the purpose of the mooring was deployed by focusing. The other hand, is located at Suzhou, Jiangsu of China Zolzengwon(拙政園) flat terrain is located on. The position, size and landscape of the former Donam SeoWon as well as the physical organization of the old site, are studied to extract data for the enhancement of the authenticity of Donam SeoWon since its registration as a world heritage site. The results are as follows. The 'Donam(豚巖)' encaved rock, the tombstone of teacher Sagye(沙溪), Kimjipsadang(金集祠堂), the head of the Gwangsan Kim family, the Sagye stream in front of them, and the Gyeryong and Daedun mountains in the distance are united in the former Donam SeoWon as landscape elements that clearly show the characteristics of the former site, which was called 'Donam-Wollim(豚巖園林).' Moreover Yangseongdangsipyoung(養性堂十詠), adds the garden elements of a medical herb field, twins pond, a bamboo forest, a school, and a peach field. On this site, one can also engage in activities that are related to the land and are closely related to Neo-Confucianism such as fish watching, conferencing, visit in seclusion(訪隱), looking for monks, and overseeing farming. The former site facing east is assumed to have Sau(祠宇) - Eungdodang(凝道堂) - Ipdeokmum(入德門) - Sanangru(山仰樓: estimated). Jeonsacheong seems to have been located to the left of the Sau area, Yangseongdang, which contained upper and lower twin lotus ponds, on the right and was surrounded by various plants. As it has been used as a lecture hall for the past 250 years, the former Donam SeoWon, located 1.8km away from the current area, must be preserved, and the landscape should be formed to establish the authenticity of Donam SeoWon.

In general, spatial imbalance in regional growth is a major cause of social and political conflicts within a state. In Korea, this inequality has functioned as a threat to the state's integration. With the economic development policies by regional industrialization over the past three decades, most of the industrial activities have been concentrated in Seoul and Pusan metropolitan areas, which are surrounded by Kyonggi, Kyongnam provinces respectively. Compared to these areas, Chonnam and Chonbuk provinces have lagged behind in economic development. Therefore, in order to increase the regional economic development of the southwestern region in Korea, the central government has been enforcing several policies aimed at regional industrialization since the 1980s. The purpose of this study focuses on the regional economic impacts of a newly established industrial estate-Yulchon industrial complex- which would act as a regional growth center in the Kwangyang bay area. The Kwangyang bay area consists of several industrial estates such as Kwangyang Iron and Steel Co. and its related industrial complex, Chuam rural industrial estate, Yeochon industrial complex, and so on. In addition, the Kwangyang container port was constructed in 1997. The Kwangyang bay area has been changing to a new industrial district in the southwestern part of Korea as a result of industrialization policies which were activated by central government. The Yulchon industrial complex, which is expected to be completed in 2001, would draw many manufacturing plants. For example, Hyundai Motors Co. has a plan to locate a new automobile assembly plant within the estate. As the plan has high probability to be realized, it will be interesting to study the effects a new automobile assembly plant and its related production linkages have on the region. This study is to estimate the expected structural characteristics of automobile production activities in Yulchon. The following details will be discussed: the regional economic impacts of a new automobile industry in Yulchon industrial complex, the production linkage formation via hierarchical subcontracting systems, the alternative strategies to promote the growth of regional economies, and the scheme to improve the auto-parts and components industry in Kwangju and Chonnam provinces by establishing auto-mobile production function. Automoblie industry generally gives great influences on not only regional economies but the related industries, for example, the firms producing automotive components. If a new plant producing automobiles and its related firms producing components are to be established in Yulchon, they will affect on the regional development directions and change the regional characteristics of industrial structure. In order to increase the spread effects of the new industry in Yulchon industrial complex, almost all of the automobile production processes must be organized concurrently within a limited range of distance. There is an imperative that the co-operation system should be structured between the assembly firm and many firms producing its components. In addition to those, it would be required such as the effective division of labors between the firms, much more capabilities in the technical innovations, and the reconstruction of interrelationship between the labor unions and the firms' managers.
