Characterization of Tree Composition using Images from SENTINEL-2: A Case Study with Semiyang Oreum (SENTINEL-2 위성영상을 이용한 조림 특성 조사: 세미양오름를 통한 사례 연구)

  • Global warming affects forests and their ecology. Diversity in the forest is a buffer that reduces the damage due to global warming. Mixed forests are ecologically more valuable as versatile habitats and are effective in preventing landslides. In Korea, most forests were created by simple afforestation with trees of evergreen species. Typically, evergreen trees are shallow-rooted, and deciduous trees are deep-rooted. Mixed forest tree roots grip the soil effectively, which reduces the occurrence of landslides. Therefore, improving the distribution of tree types is essential to reduce damage due to global warming. For this improvement, the investigation of tree types of the forest is needed. However, determining the tree type distribution of forests that are spread over wide areas is labor-intensive and time-consuming. This study suggests effective methods for determining the distribution of tree types in a forest that is spread across a relatively wide area. Using normalized difference vegetation index and RGB images from unmanned aerial vehicles, each evergreen and deciduous tree, and grassland area can be distinguished. The distinguished image determines the distribution of tree type. This method is effective compared to directly determining the tree type distribution in the forest by the use of manpower. The data from these methods could be applied to plan a mixed forest or to prepare for future damage due to global warming.

Changes of Chemical Compositions and Ginsenoside Contents of Different Root Parts of Ginsengs with Processing Method (인삼의 가공방법에 따른 일반성분 및 Ginsenoside 함량 변화)

  • This study was carried out to determine changes in general chemical composition, free sugars, physicochemical properties of extract, and ginsenoside contents depending upon processing methods. Ginseng roots harvested from the same field were employed for the processing into white ginseng (WG), taegeuk ginseng (TG), red ginseng A (RGA, steamed one time), and red ginseng B (RGB, steamed three times). The fat content decreased by increasing duration of treatment and number of steaming treatment. On the other hand, there was no significant variation in contents of ash and carbohydrate depending on processing methods. Contents of sucrose and maltose was higher in Taegeuk and red ginseng than those of white ginseng. Steamed ginseng root (taegeuk and red ginseng root) showed higher amount of water extractable solid than the unsteamed white ginseng, but the variation of crude saponin content was not distinctive depending on processing methods. The contents of total ginsenosides increased by the order of white, taegeuk, red A, and red B root. In summary, chemical composition and total ginsenoside content were different according to part of root and processing methods, thus implies the importance of quality control as well as pharmacological activity of ginseng root.

  • 도로의 정보를 취득하기 위하여 제작된 도로 안정성 조사 분석 차량(RoSSAV)은 도로의 3차원 정보를 취득하는 한 방법으로 레이저 스캐너를 사용한다. 레이저 스캐너로부터 취득된 도로의 3차원 정보는 많은 목적으로 활용할 수 있는 매우 유용한 정보이나, 도로의 3차원 정보를 사용자가 육안으로 확인할 수 있도록 영상으로 편집을 하게 되면, 현실감 있는 영상이 생성되기는 어렵다. 이를 보완하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 레이저 스캐너로부터 얻은 정보와는 별도로 CCD 카메라로 도로 전방 영상을 촬영하였고, 이 두 가지 데이터를 합성하여 현실감 있는 3차원 도로영상을 생성하는 기법을 연구 개발하였다. 레이더 영상과 CCD 영상의 합성은 레이저 데이터가 가지고 있는 3차원의 위치에 해당하는 CCD영상에서의 영상점을 찾아 이 점에서의 RGB 밴드의 밝기값을 찾아내어 이를 레이저 데이터에 기록, 적용시키는 것을 의미한다. 이 방법을 사용하기 위해서는 영상간의 관계모델을 수립할 필요가 있으며, 본 연구에서는 직접선형변환(DLT) 모델을 사용하였다. 이 모델을 이용하기 위해 레이저 데이터를 영상으로 편집하였고 이 영상과 CCD영상과 일치하는 지점을 육안으로 찾아 각 영상별로 DLT센서모델에 필요한 개수의 기준점을 제작하여 실행하였다. 실험 결과 영상은 기준점의 정확도에 따라 약간의 차이는 있으나 합성 전의 레이저 데이터 영상에 비해 실세계에 가까운 색깔을 나타냄이 확인되었다.

POSITION RECOGNITION AND QUALITY EVALUATION OF TOBACCO LEAVES VIA COLOR COMPUTER VISION

  • The position of tobacco leaves is affluence to the quality. To evaluate its quality, sample leaves was collected according to the position of attachment. In Korea, the position was divided into four classes such as high, middle, low and inside positioned leaves. Until now, the grade of standard sample was determined by human expert from korea ginseng and tobacco company. Many research were done by the chemical and spectrum analysis using NIR and computer vision. The grade of tobacco leaves mainly classified into 5 grades according to the attached position and its chemical composition. In high and low positioned leaves shows a low level grade under grade 3. Generally, inside and medium positioned leaf has a high level grade. This is the basic research to develop a real time tobacco leaves grading system combined with portable NIR spectrum analysis system. However, this research just deals with position recognition and grading using the color machine vision. The RGB color information was converted to HSI image format and the sample was all investigated using the bundle of tobacco leaves. Quality grade and position recognition was performed through well known general error back propagation neural network. Finally, the relationship about attached leaf position and its grade was analyzed.

Features of the Costumes of Officials in the King Jeongjo Period Seojangdaeyajodo (정조대 <서장대야조도(西將臺夜操圖)>의 관직자 복식 고증)

  • Seojangdaeyajodo is a drawing of military night training on February 12th (lunar leap month), 1795. Focusing on the Seojangdaeyajodo, the characteristics and of the costumes worn by various types of officials were examined. There were 34 officials located near King Jeongjo in and around Seojangdae, with 27 Dangsanggwan and 7 Danghagwan. They wore three types of costumes, including armor, yungbok, and military uniforms. All of the twelve armor wearers and the five officials wearing yungbok were dangsanggwan, and the military uniform wearers included eleven dangsanggwan and six danghagwan. For the shape of the armor, the armor relics of General Yeoban, suitable for riding horses, and the armor painting of Muyedobotongji were referenced, and the composition of the armor was based on practicality. The armor consists of a helmet, a suit of armor, a neck guard, armpit guards, arm guards, and a crotch guard. The color of the armor was red and green, which are the most frequently used colors in Seojangdaeyajodo. The composition of yungbok was jurip, navy cheollik, red gwangdahoe, socks made of leather, and suhwaja. The composition of the military uniform was a lined jeolrip, dongdari, jeonbok, yodae, jeondae, and suhwaja. There were differences in the fabrics used in dangsanggwan and danghagwan military uniforms. Dangsanggwan used fabric with depictions of clouds and jewels, and danghagwan used unpatterned fabric. Moreover, jade, gold, and silver were used for detailed ornamental materials in dangsanggwan. The weapons included bows and a bow case, a sword, a rattan stick, wrist straps, and a ggakji. In the records of the King Jeongjo period, various colored heopsu were mentioned; the colors of the dongdari and jeonbok of dangsanggwan and danghagwan were referenced in various colors. It was presented as an illustration of costumes that could be used to produce objects accurately reflecting the above historical results. The basic principle of the illustration was to present the modeling standards for 3D content production. Samples of form, color, and material of the corresponding times and statuses were presented. The front, the side, and the back of each costume and its accessories were presented, and the colors were presented in RGB and CMYK.

Characterization and optimization for beverage manufacture using Korean red ginseng extract (기호성 개선 인삼농축액 제조를 위한 추출 조건 설정)

  • This study was designed to develop a manufacturing process for ginseng concentrate with reduced unpleasant aroma and bitter taste. Two types of ginseng, white and red, were extracted under six different conditions (the 1st to the 6th step) of temperature ($65{\sim}95^{\circ}C$) and ethanol concentration (0~70%). Six extracts of each ginseng were evaluated by a sensory test, and assayed for crude saponin, ginsenosides, and acidic polysaccharides. The content of crude saponin in the extracts decreased with extraction time. There was no significant difference in the crude saponin content between white and red ginseng extracts. The yield of red ginseng extract was higher (45%) than that of white ginseng. No significant difference was observed in the acidic polysaccharide content between red and white ginseng extracts. $Rg_3$, a specific ginsenoside in red ginseng, was detected in the 1st to 6th extracts of red ginseng. Bitterness, astringency, and sourness of ginseng extracts decreased as the extraction steps proceeded. The composite of the 1st, 2nd, and 6th step extracts decreased bitterness and astringency, and the highest overall acceptance. Compared with commercial beverages, the composition of the three extracts is the desirable method to decrease the bitter and astringent tastes, and the overall unpleasant flavor of ginseng.

Production of Realistic Explosion Effects through Four Types of Solutions (4가지 솔루션을 통한 사실적인 폭발효과 제작)

  • Explosion effect on CG (Computer Graphic) a visual effect on which a higher degree of technological difficulty is required with a variety of effect elements such as Fire, Smoke, Flame, Dust, Debris, etc. integrated on it. As skills for CG software have been advanced, solutions loaded with functions of various fluid simulation have been developed. So more realistic special effects came to be available. However, in Korea, it depends just on CG program functions. Besides, enough R&D's concerned have not been followed up. Accordingly, this study is aimed at offering a production method that may effectively implement more realistic explosion effects under experimentations. To begin with, the study derives problems through a precedent study of the implementation of existing explosion effects. Then to solve them, experimental studies are performed depending on four solutions. There are accesses to the four solutions: first, Numerous Turbulent Flow, a method to allow an attribute of turbulent air in the stage of fluid simulation; second, Cache Retiming Solution produced in script; third, Multiple Volume Container based on cached data; and fourth, RGB Lighting Pipeline, a method to enhance the completion of the result from the stage of composition. Characteristics of effects applied in each stage and consecutive connections of them proved the effective implementation of more realistic explosion effects. This study may not only suppose the production method for efficient explosion effects differentiated from the previous ones but also be utilized as basic data for relevant researches.

Multi-View Video Composition and Multi-View Viewer (다시점 비디오와 컴퓨터 그래픽스 합성 및 다시점 비디오 뷰어)

  • 최근, 실감 영상에 대한 관심과 요구가 증가하면서 신개념 서비스인 3차원 다시점(Multi-view) 방송에 대한 연구가 다양하게 진행되고 있다. 이와 더불어 광고와 게시를 목적으로 입체 영상과 입체 디스플레이 장치의 수요가 증가하고 있어, 앞으로 다시점 영상 콘텐츠와 디스플레이 장치가 활발하게 보급될 전망이다. 다시점 영상 콘텐츠는 제작 단계에서 컴퓨터 그래픽스 객체를 합성하면 보다 목적에 부합하는 콘텐츠를 제작할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 다시점 카메라로부터 얻은 RGB 텍스쳐 데이터와 깊이 테이터에 컴퓨터 그래픽스 객체를 합성하여 다시점 합성 영상을 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 또한, 제작된 다시점 합성 영상을 검증하고 재생하는 다시점 비디오 뷰어를 설계, 구현 한다. 가상의 다시점 영상에 그래픽스 객체를 합성하는 방법은 후 합성 기반으로, 임의의 그래픽스 객체 모델을 생성하여 깊이 정보를 부여하고, 가상 시점 영상의 생성과 동일한 방법으로 그래픽스 객체의 각 시점별 영상을 생성한다. 끝으로 깊이정보를 사용하여 가상 시점 영상의 적절한 좌표공간으로 그래픽스 객체를 삽입한다. 그래픽스 합성의 정확성 검증을 위해 다시점 그래픽스 합성 영상을 디스플레이하는 뷰어는 2D 및 입체를 모두 지원하고, view switching, frozen moment, view sweeping 등의 interactive special effect기법과 다양한 포맷의 저장이 가능하다. 또한, 입체 영상의 실험에서는 그래픽 객체의 입체감 조절을 위해 실제 카메라 시점 간에 필요한 중간시점영상의 개수를 결정할 수 있다.

Features of the Military Uniforms of the Low-Ranking Soldier Belonging to Jangyongyoung in the King Jeongjo Period Seojangdaeyajodo (정조대 <서장대야조도(西將臺夜操圖)> 장용영(壯勇營) 하급 군사(軍士)의 군복(軍服) 고증)

  • Seojangdaeyajodo is a drawing of Jangyongyoung's military night training on February 12 (lunar leap month), 1795. Focusing on the Seojangdaeyajodo, the positions and roles of the low-ranking soldier belonging to Jangyongyoung, and the composition and characteristics of military uniforms for each role were examined. The results ascertained by the historical research on the military uniforms are as follows. Deungronggun, noeja, sunryeongsu and daegisu who were placed in front of the king's Seojangdae were the low-ranking soldiers belonging to Jangyongyoung. The soldiers who escorted the king around Seojangdae were lowranking soldiers belonging to Jangyongyoung. The military uniform of the deungronggun was consisted of a jeolrip, a black heopsu, red gweja, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon and black shoes. The low-ranking soldier's heopsu suggested that it could also be a sochangui. He carried a sword and a red lantern. Noeja were divided into a sinjeonsu and a jujangsu. The military uniform of the noeja was consisted of a Jujeolrip, a black heopsu, red gweja, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon, and black shoes. Sunryeongsu were divided into a sinsigisu and a younggisu. The military uniform of the sunryeongsu was consisted of a jeongeon, a black heopsu, red gweja, indigo jeondae white haengjeon and black shoes. He carried a sword and a red lantern. The military uniform of the daegisu was consisted of a jeongeon, a black heopsu, blue gweja, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon and black shoes. He carried a sword and a flag. The soldiers surrounding Seojangdae and the seongjeonggun defending the fortress were the Chogun. The military uniform of the chogun was consisted of a jeolrip, a black heopsu, houi, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon and straw shoes. Houi was applying the five directional colors: the east is blue, the west is white, the south is red, and the north is black. He carried a sword and a gun. It was presented as an illustration of costumes that could produce contents by reflecting on these historical results. The basic principle of the illustration was to present the standards for 3D content production or actual production. Samples of form, color, and material according to the times and status were presented. The front, the side, and the back of each costume and the feature were presented, and the colors were presented in RGB and CMYK.
