Development of Process and Equipment for Roll-to-Roll convergence printing technology

  • The process of manufacturing printed electronics using printing technology is attracting attention because its process cost is lower than that of the conventional semiconductor process. This technology, which offers both a lower cost and higher productivity, can be applied in the production of organic TFT (thin film transistor), solar cell, RFID(radio frequency identification) tag, printed battery, E-paper, touch screen panel, black matrix for LCD(liquid crystal display), flexible display, and so forth. In general, in order to implement printed electronics, narrow width and gap printing, registration of multi-layer printing by several printing units, and printing accuracy of under $20\;{\mu}m$ are all required. These electronic products require high precision to the degree of tens of microns - in a large area with flexible material, and mass productivity at low cost. As such, the roll-to-roll printing process is attracting attention as a mass production system for these printed electronic devices. For the commercialization of this process, two basic electronic ink technologies, such as conductive ink and polymers, and printing equipment have to be developed. Therefore, this paper addressed basis design and test to develop fine patterning equipment employing the roll-to-roll printing equipment and electronic ink.

  • Roll-to-roll process is an emerging mass production method for printed and flexible electronics such as touch screen panel, RFID tag, thin film solar cell, and flexible display due to its high throughput. High precision in printing and coating is required to apply functional materials onto substrate. For such reason, every part of the roll-to-roll equipment needs to be precisely fabricated and to retain its precision under regular operation. In this article, the precision of cantilever type idler roller and a novel method to mitigate its deflection under web tension loading are discussed and the method is verified using both the numerical and the experimental works. The proposed method improves the structural rigidity of cantilever type roller whose advantages, such as low capital cost and high web path configurability, are maintained.

  • 미국 환경단체가 발표한 자료에 따르면, 항만이 대기오염의 주범으로 알려진 자동차나 발전소보다 더 많은 오염물질을 배출하고 있으며, 특히 컨테이너트럭과 하역장비에서 많은 오염물질을 배출하는 것으로 확인되었다. 세계 5위의 컨테이너 물동량을 처리하는 부산항을 비롯하여 많은 항만을 보유하고 있는 우리나라도 적극적으로 항만에서 배출하는 온실가스를 감축하기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 IP-RFID라는 새로운 기술을 이용하여 항만 터미널내의 물류장비(컨테이너 트럭, 하역장비 등)들의 탄소배출량을 실시간으로 관리할 수 있는 모니터링시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 개발하는 모니터링시스템은 개별 물류장비의 탄소량을 실시간으로 측정하여 IP통신을 통해 다양한 사용자에게 직접 정보를 전달할 수 있는 IP-Tag를 부착하여, 개별 물류장비별 탄소배출량을 적극적으로 관리할 수 있는 시스템이다. 이 시스템을 통해 물류장비별로 탄소배출량 관리가 가능해지고 운전자도 실시간으로 장비의 탄소배출량을 확인할 수 있기 때문에, 항만의 탄소배출량을 감축할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Manufacturing of printed electronics using printing technology has begun to get into the hot issue in many ways due to the low cost effectiveness to existing semi-conductor process. This technology with both low cost and high productivity, can be applied in the production of organic thin film transistor (OTFT), solar cell, radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, printed battery, E-paper, touch screen panel, black matrix for liquid crystal display (LCD), flexible display, and so forth. The emerging technology to manufacture the products in mass production is roll-to-roll printing technology which is a manufacturing method by printings of multi-layered patterns composed of semi-conductive, dielectric and conductive layers. In contrary to the conventional printing machines in which printing precision is about $50~100{\mu}m$, the printing machines for printed electronics should have a precision under $30{\mu}m$. In general, in order to implement printed electronics, narrow width and gap printing, register of multi-layer printing by several printing units, and printing accuracy of under $30{\mu}m$ are all required. We developed the roll-to-roll printing equipment used for printed electronics, which is composed of un-winder, re-winder, tension measurement system, feeding units, dancer systems, guide unit, printing unit, vision system, dryer units, and various auxiliary devices. The equipment is designed based on cantilever type in which all rollers except printing ones have cantilever types, which could give more accurate machine precision as well as convenience for changing rollers and observing the process.

A Scheme to Optimize Q-Algorithm for Fast Tag Identification (고속 태그 식별을 위한 Q-알고리즘 최적화 방안)

  • In the anti-collision scheme proposed by EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 standard, the frame size for a query round is determined by Q-algorithm. In the Q-algorithm, the reader calculates a frame size without estimating the number of tags in it's identification range. It uses only the slot status. Therefore, the Q-algorithm has advantage that the reader's algorithm is simpler than other DFSA algorithms. However, the standard does not define an optimized parameter value for adjusting the frame size. In this paper, we propose the optimized parameter values for minimizing the identification time by various computer simulations.

  • IT산업이 발전함에 따라 Bluetooth, ZigBee, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)와 같은 근거리 무선통신 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있다. 그 중 NFC(Near Field Communication)의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, NFC 태그와 함께 사용할 경우 활용성은 더욱 증대된다. 이와 관련하여 현재 다양한 NFC 태그관련 애플리케이션이 존재한다. 하지만 기존의 NFC 태그 애플리케이션은 단일 기능을 중심으로 제공하고, 여러 가지 기능을 이용하기 위해서는 여러 개의 NFC 태그가 필요하다는 단점이 있다. 이 점을 개선하고자 본 논문에서는 단일 NFC 태그로 다양한 기능을 제공하는 애플리케이션을 구현한다. 기능들로는 Text입력과 에어플레인 모드, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 무음모드, 알람, 알람설정, 사용자 지정 애플리케이션 선택 및 활성이 있다. 이러한 기능들은 사용자의 상황에 맞게 태그에 입력 시킬 수 있으며, 결과적으로 기존의 단일 기능을 제공하는 애플리케이션보다 개선됨 점을 나타낸다.

A Study on the Development of a Home Mess-Cleanup Robot Using an RFID Tag-Floor (RFID 환경을 이용한 홈 메스클린업 로봇 개발에 관한 연구)

  • An autonomous and automatic home mess-cleanup robot is newly developed in this paper. Thus far, vacuum-cleaners have lightened the burden of household chores but the operational labor that vacuum-cleaners entail has been very severe. Recently, a cleaning robot was commercialized to solve but it also was not successful because it still had the problem of mess-cleanup, which pertained to the clean-up of large trash and the arrangement of newspapers, clothes, etc. Hence, we develop a new home mess-cleanup robot (McBot) to completely overcome this problem. The robot needs the capability for agile navigation and a novel manipulation system for mess-cleanup. The autonomous navigational system has to be controlled for the full scanning of the living room and for the precise tracking of the desired path. It must be also be able to recognize the absolute position and orientation of itself and to distinguish the messed object that is to be cleaned up from obstacles that should merely be avoided. The manipulator, which is not needed in a vacuum-cleaning robot, has the functions of distinguishing the large trash that is to be cleaned from the messed objects that are to be arranged. It needs to use its discretion with regard to the form of the messed objects and to properly carry these objects to the destination. In particular, in this paper, we describe our approach for achieving accurate localization using RFID for home mess-cleanup robots. Finally, the effectiveness of the developed McBot is confirmed through live tests of the mess-cleanup task.

A Study on Integrated Anti-counterfeiting Strategy to stop the forgery for Korean cosmetics in China (중국에서 한국 화장품의 위조근절을 위한 통합적 위조방지 전략 연구)

  • About 60 percent of cosmetic products sold in the dominant Taobao internet shopping mall proved recently to be counterfeit products made in China. This paper is to investigate the anti-counterfeiting strategies to clean up fake goods for Korean cosmetics which have been exported to China. Using the scienter rule the paper classified the forgery action for Korean cosmetics into four broad groups - counterfeit, piracy, illegally distributed product, and brand prior register. This paper suggested interior company's anti-counterfeiting strategies for each group, focusing on the construction for an integrated anti-counterfeiting system including consumer's rationality through the government cooperation between Korea and China.

  • "Ubiquitous sensor network" definition is this-Someone attaches electro-magnetic tag everything which needs communication between man to man, man to material and material to material(Ubiquitous). By using attached every electro-magnetic tag, someone detects it's native information as well as environmental information such as temperature, humidity, pollution and infiltration information(Sensor). someone connects it realtime network and manage generated information(Network). 21st century's war is joint combined operation connecting with ground, sea and air smoothly in digitalized war field, and is systematic war provided realtime information from sensor to shooter. So, it needs dramatic development on watch reconnaissance, command and control, pinpoint strike etc. Ubiquitous computing and network technologies are essential in national defense to operate 21st century style war. It is possible to use many parts such as USN combined smart dust and sensor network to protect friend unit as well as to watch enemy's deep area by unmanned reconnaissance, wearable computer upgrading soldier's operational ability and combat power dramatically, RFID which can be used material management as well as on time support. Especially, unmanned watch system using USN is core part to transit network centric military service and to get national defense efficiency which overcome the dilemma of national defense person resource reducing, and upgrade guard quality level, and improve combat power by normalizing guardian's bio rhythm. According to the test result of sensor network unmanned watch system, it needs more effort and time to stabilize because of low USN technology maturity and using maturity. In the future, USN unmanned watch system project must be decided the application scope such as application area and starting point by evaluating technology maturity and using maturity. And when you decide application scope, you must consider not only short period goal as cost reduction, soldier decrease and guard power upgrade but also long period goal as advanced defense ability strength. You must build basic infra in advance such as light cable network, frequency allocation and power facility etc. First of all, it must get budget guarantee and driving force for USN unmanned watch system project related to defense policy. You must forwarded the USN project assuming posses of operation skill as procedure, system, standard, training in advance. Operational skill posses is come from step by step application strategy such as test phase, introduction phase, spread phase, stabilization phase and also repeated test application taking example project.

  • While converging USN Services, a single physical infrastructure can be used in several services and in several physical infrastructures can make up a single service. Therefore the physical infrastructure and service have to manage separately for effective convergence of USN Services. However, established Identification Scheme is not suitable to distinguish various services that USN provides. This paper suggests USN Service Identification Scheme that can be separated and managed. Through USN Service Identification Scheme suggested, firstly, it is possible to obtain Service Identification Scheme utilizing various technology such as RFID TAG, QR Code, radio broadcasting, etc. because it is possible to process USN Service Identification Scheme. Secondly, it is easy to mange the service, develope the user application program and interlock with established USN Standard technique as view from service provider. Thirdly, it is possible to manage systematically USN Service. Fourthly, users can search USN Service easily, so it can contribute actively for invigoration of USN service. This thesis, firstly, has analyzed about standard related USN Service and USN Identification Scheme. Secondly, this has suggested brand-new USN Service Identification Scheme based on established USN Identification Scheme.
