  • This paper proposes a new forging work-in-process control system that guarantees independency of a specific device and provides cost-effectiveness. Until now, much research has been studied on improving the process productivity through efficient work-in-process or inventory controls. Especially, incorporating various IT technologies such as barcode, RFID, and image recognition has been done. However, those approaches cause many problems due to the characteristics of the forging work-in-process control environment. To overcome the limitations of the existing approaches, this paper proposes a novel forging work-in-process control system. The proposed system in this paper identifies and precisely manages positions of objects by using GPS information of smart mobile devices. Therefore, identification tags as well as specific devices for reading the tags do not been required. It resolves the problems of the previous approaches and enhances the productivity of the overall forging work-in-process control process.

  • Wireless Self-Powered Temperature Sensor for UHF Sensor Tags which are basic device for construction of ubiquitous sensor network is proposed. The key parameters of the target specification are resolution of $0.1\;^{\circ}C$ per output bit, below 1.5 V of operating voltage and below 5 uW of power consumption during sensing operation. Temperature sensor circuit consists of PTAT current generator, band gap reference circuit generating both reference voltage and current, Sigma-Delta Converter, and Digital Counter. Simulated maximum resolution was $0.23\;^{\circ}C/bit$ in 11-bit output. The proposed temperature sensor was fabricated by using a 0.25 m CMOS process. The chip area is $0.32\;{\times}\;0.22\;mm$ and the operating frequency is 2 MHz. Measured resolution from fabricated temperature sensor was $4\;^{\circ}C/bit$ in 8-bit output for the temperature range from $10^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$.

  • Recently, it is proved that contactless smart-card based RFID tags, which is used for proximity authentication, are vulnerable to relay attacks with various location-based attacks such as distance fraud, mafia fraud and terrorist fraud attacks. Moreover, distance bounding protocols have been researched to prevent these relay attacks that can measure the message transmitted round-trip time between the reader and the tag. In 2005, Hancke and Kuhn first proposed an RFID distance bounding protocol based on secure hash function. However, the Hancke-Kuhn protocol cannot completely prevent the relay attacks because an adversary has (3/4)$^n$ attack success probability. Thus, this paper proposes a new distance-bounding protocol for light-weight RFID systems that can reduce to (5/8)$^n$ for the adversary's attack success probability. As a result, the proposed protocol not only can provide high-space efficient based on a secure hash function and XOR operation, but also can provide strong security against the relay attacks because the adversary's attack success probability is optimized to (5/8)$^n$.

  • Purpose: In this study, the location and history information of the cavity identified in the cavity exploration, such as repacking of the pavement, is not known. Therefore, it is to review the field applicability of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) systems that enable anyone to accurately identify information. Method: Basic experiments were conducted for field applicability for cavity recognition distance, recognition and recognition rate, tag performance and tag type, reader interference, communication, underground burial impact, and duplicate recognition by RFID system. Results: As a result of the depth of tag and reader recognition, the electronic tag chips and readers applied in the basic experiment are judged to be effectively applicable in the field environment where the road cavity is located. Conclusion: The RFID tags for field application of the pavement management system store various information such as location and size of cavity, identification date, cause of occurrence, and surrounding underground facilities to maximize cavity management effect with a system that can be computerized and mobile utilization.

  • For the 2.4 GHz active RFID to be successful in the market, one of the requirements is the increased battery life. However, currently we do not have any accurate power consumption estimation method. In this study we develop a simulation model, which can be used to estimate power consumption of tag accurately. Six different simulation models are proposed depending on collision algorithm and query command method. To improve estimation accuracy, we classify tag operating modes as the wake-up receive, UHF receive, sleep timer, tag response, and sleep modes. Power consumption and operating time are identified according to the tag operating mode. Query command for simplifying collection and ack command procedure and newly developed collision control algorithm are used in the simulation. Other performance measures such as throughput, recognition time for multi-tags, tag recognition rate including power consumption are compared with those from the current standard ISO/IEC 18000-7.

  • Using single carrier frequency RFID system in one-to-multiple wireless communications, might be generated data loss because of data collisions. Conventional Anti-collision method prevent data loss from data collisions which are binary tree method and ALOHA. However, those two preventive measures also have week points which are strongly dependent on the time and space when passing through the recognition area. This paper suggests the full-length instruction code method which fits in to half-duplex method, prevents data collision effectively by calculating the non-transmitting time of multiple tags considering approaching time to the recognition area. After full-length instruction code method test using 13.56MHz bandwidth RFID system shows that full-length instruction code method could make better result than any other methods. Moreover, the record shows O(n) result after analyzing O-notation of conventional time-domain procedure.

  • At this time, our country's social welfare system for the handicapped is switching to increase independence, education is the most important. This study increases the quality of Visual handicapped people's life which have limit to learn and reduces their inconvenience which may occur during their independent school life through the development of the system which helps them safely to reach their destination by themselves using IT technologies in an educational institute which helps their ability to get information and be independent. This study supports Visual handicapped people to move safely by using cell phone which is necessary items for most modern people, RFID tags and white canes with antenna and reader which read the information installed in the raised blocks outside of school buildings and in the hall or aisle inside of buildings and inform the path by voice and vibration.

  • One of the most challenging issues in radio frequency identification (RFID) and near field communications (NFC) is to correctly and quickly recognize a number of tag IDs in the reader's field. Unlike the probabilistic anti-collision schemes, a query tree based protocol guarantees to identify all the tags, where the distribution of tag IDs is assumed to be uniform. However, in real implements, the prefix of tag ID is uniquely assigned by the EPCglobal and the remaining part is sequentially given by a company or manufacturer. In this paper, we propose an enhanced M-ary query tree protocol (EMQT), which effectively reduces unnecessary query-response cycles between similar tag IDs using m-bit arbitration and tag expectation. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the EMQT significantly outperforms other schemes in terms of identification time, identification efficiency and communications overhead.

  • U-Publication, the Tag-Embedded publication, is one of U-Media. U-Media is defined as a media where human creates and consumes content through not only human cognitive and perceptual processes but also through the interactions between surrounding digital systems. U-Media provides information by generating, collecting, and attaching the content itself and the related information based on the interaction of the bio-systems incorporating digital information and devices embedded in humans, and surrounding objects including external digital devices. Using U-Publication, readers consume its content not only in offline but also online through a mobile RFID reader which touches and connects the URLs embedded in the RFID tags attached to it. Readers can consume the additional content though the hyperlinks attached to U-Publication and perform commercial activity as well as consumer the printed content. This paper defines the RFID-Tagged publication, proposes its related business models, and evaluates the alternative business models through a simulation study.
