A Framework and Process Design for RFID Privacy Protection (RFID 프라이버시 보호 프레임웍 및 프로세스 설계에 관한 연구)

  • RFID is an emerging technology and rapidly applied to various industries due to its high-tech characteristic and convenience. Although RFID provides valuable benefits. it might also generate serious privacy problems. Previous studies show that privacy issues should be incorporated in developing RFID systems and more detailed privacy protection methods. However. they just provide basic concept, rough guideline. and simple architecture about RFID privacy protection. Industry needs more structured framework and detailed systematic process to incorporate privacy issues into the RFID system. The purpose of this paper is to develop a framework and detailed process design of RFID privacy protection issues in retail industries. A framework is developed based on individual sensitivity concept, RFID contents, and interface with EPC global standard. Case study is applied to validate the framework and it turns out to be useful. It is expected that the proposed framework and process design would provide more systematic guide lines to solving RFID privacy problems.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) will be used for recognizing things and offering distinctive information in Ubiquitous environment. But we are not ready to provide security service to RFID. Therefore we propose the approach of safe RFID system which provides the solution for eavesdrop, forgery, and modification based on Pre-Distribution protocol and RC5 security algorithm. First We distributes the secret key to the Tag with the Reader that is major subject on RFID system using Pre-Distribution protocol. Then we will provide to various security services and privacy protection using RC5 security algorithm. The proposed safe RFID system simulated on ATmega128 evaluate environment.

  • A RFID system is a technology for detecting information on an object through wireless communication between a tag on the object and a reader, and its applications are being expanded to various areas. Because of its wireless communication, however, there are many vulnerabilities in security. Until now, many studies have been executed in order to solve problems related to the security and stability of RFID. In order to resolve vulnerabilities in existing security methods for privacy protection, this study proposed an authentication protocol that uses hash values received from tags and random numbers. When the proposed protocol was implemented, it was safe from various types of attacks between tag and reader and between reader and DB. Furthermore, compared to recently proposed protocols, it could implement a RFID system with enhanced security and less computation in tags.

  • In this paper, we analyse eavesdrop problem of existing RFID security scheme and proposed improved SEEB algorithm for RFID security. we suggest partial round process and security in SEED algorithm. Existing scheme has vulnerability of security and implementation so far from realization. Therefore In our paper, we proposed new scheme using modified SEED algorithm for backward channel protection.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a privacy protection RFID system using random number based ID allocation. Currently, there are rising issues about privacy violation in RFID system. This issues caused by tracking the ID of tag which present unique identity of tag. The proposed system dynamically allocates random basis ID to tag, then the tag can not be traced. The random ID allocation procedures of this system can be operate in cryptographic mode or normal(non-cryptographic) mode. This system can be applied to privacy protected customer tracking RFID system in mesa-outlet stores which tracing customer's moving path.

  • RFID is the core of realizing ubiquitous environment. This is expected to improve economical effect through related industry revitalization, make-work, and so on, in the future, and to be linked to social see-through enhancement via national life change. However unchecked RFID use lets retailers collect unprecedented huge information and they link it to customer information database, so the voice of worry to bring about a result of trampling down consumer privacy doesn't make a negligible situation. Although RFID system is spreaded out socially, the servicing of law and system is not accomplished to protect individuals from personal information violation threat. At the same time, in ubiquitous computing environment, to protect individual information efficiently, from the step of planning and deciding this technology system, constitutional law, norm, the basic legal rights of the people, and so forth is to be considered. The objective of the research is to persent the privacy protection from the viewpoints of law on RFID.

Enhanced RFID Mutual Authentication Protocol on Efficient Supply Chain Management (효율적인 공급망 관리를 위한 강화된 RFID 상호 인증 프로토콜)

  • Chen et al. proposed a RFID authentication protocol for anti-counterfeiting and privacy protection. A feasible security mechanism for anti-counterfeiting and privacy protection was proposed using XOR and random number shifting operations to enhance RFID tag's security providing a low cost. However, their authentication protocol has some drawbacks and security problems because they did not consider the surrounding environments. We conduct analysis on the protocol and identify problematic areas for improvement of the research. We also provide enhanced authentication and update scheme based on the comment for efficient supply chain management. The proposed protocol was analyzed and compared with typical XOR based RFID authentication protocols and it was confirmed that our protocol has high safety and low communication cost.

  • Recently, RFID system have been studied actively in ubiquitous computing as main technology While RFID systems has much advantages, it may create new problems to the user privacy. In this paper, we present a description of previously proposed mechanisms for protecting user's privacy and problems of these. Then, we propose RFID systems providing privacy protection in ubiquitous computing environment. The proposal system as a way of protecting user's privacy from unwanted scanning and tracking by an adversary, but, it can traceable to the tag by authorized administrator when necessary.

  • In this paper, we propose the scheme solving privacy infringement in RFID systems with improving the scalability of back-end server. With RFID/USN becoming important subject, many approaches have been proposed and applied. However, limits of RFID, low computation power and storage, make the protection of privacy difficult. The Hash Chain scheme has been known as one guaranteeing forward security, confidentiality and indistinguishability. In spite of that, it is a problem that requires much of computation to identify tags in Back-End server. In this paper, we introduce an efficient key search method, the Hellman Method, to reduce computing complexity in Back-End server. Hellman Method algorism progresses pre-computation and (re)search. In this paper, after applying Hellman Method to Hash chain theory, We compared Preservation and key reference to analyze and apply to parallel With guaranteeing requistes of security for existing privacy protecting Comparing key reference reduced computation time of server to reduce computation complex from O(m) to $O(\frac{m{^2/3}}{w})$ than the existing form.

  • We are sure that RFID system should be a widely used automatic identification system because of its various advantages and applications. However, many people know that invasions of privacy in RFID system is still critical problem that makes it difficult to be used. Many works for solving this problem have focused on light-weight cryptographic functioning in the RFID tag. An agent scheme is another approach that an agent device controls communications between the tag and the reader for protecting privacy. Generally an agent device has strong security modules and enough capability to process high-level cryptographic protocols and can guarantees consumer privacy. In this paper, we present an enhanced mobile agent for RFID privacy protection. In enhanced MARP, we modified some phases of the original MARP to reduce the probability of successful eavesdropping and to reduce the number of tag's protocol participation. And back-end server can authenticate mobile agents more easily using public key cryptography in this scheme. It guarantees not only privacy protection but also preventing forgery.
