One of the most challenging issues in radio frequency identification (RFID) and near field communications (NFC) is to correctly and quickly recognize a number of tag IDs in the reader's field. Unlike the probabilistic anti-collision schemes, a query tree based protocol guarantees to identify all the tags, where the distribution of tag IDs is assumed to be uniform. However, in real implements, the prefix of tag ID is uniquely assigned by the EPCglobal and the remaining part is sequentially given by a company or manufacturer. In this paper, we propose an enhanced M-ary query tree protocol (EMQT), which effectively reduces unnecessary query-response cycles between similar tag IDs using m-bit arbitration and tag expectation. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the EMQT significantly outperforms other schemes in terms of identification time, identification efficiency and communications overhead.

In the anti-collision scheme proposed by EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 standard, the frame size for a query round is determined by Q-algorithm. In the Q-algorithm, the reader calculates a frame size without estimating the number of tags in it's identification range. It uses only the slot status. Therefore, Q-algorithm has advantage that the reader's algorithm is simpler than other algorithms. However, it cannot allocate an optimized frame size because it does not consider the number of tags. Also, the conventional Q-algorithm does not define an optimized parameter value C for adjusting the frame size. In this paper, we propose a modified Q-algorithm and evaluate the performance with computer simulations. The proposed Q-algorithm estimates the number of tags at every query round, and determines the parameter value C based on the estimated number of tags.

Passive RFID tag does not have its own power, so it has very poor computation abilities and it can deliver signals in very short range. From the facts, most RFID Tag security schemes assumed that the backward channel from tags to a reader is safe from eavesdropping. However, eavesdroppers near a tag can overhear message from a tag illegally. In this paper, we propose a method to protect the backward channel from eavesdropping by illegal readers. The proposed scheme can overcome the problems of conventional schemes such as randomized tree walking, which have been proposed to secure tag information in tree-walking algorithm as an anti-collision scheme for RFID tags. We showed the efficiency of our proposed method by using an analytical model, and it is also shown that the proposed method can provide the probability of eavesdropping in some standardized RFID tag system such as EPCglobal, ISO, uCode near to '0'.

In this paper, a QT_ss protocol is proposed for identifying all the tags within the identification range. The proposed QT_ss protocol revises the QT protocol. which has a memoryless property. In the QT_ss protocol, the tag will send all the bits of their identification codes when the query string matches the first bits of their identification codes. While the tags are sending their identification codes. if the reader detects a collision bit, it will send a signal to the tags to stop sending. According to the simulation results, the QT_ss protocol outperforms the QT protocol in terns of the number of response bits.

The procedure of the arbitration which is the tag collision is essential because the multiple tags response simultaneously in the same frequency to the request of the Reader. This procedure is known as Anti-collision and it is a key technology in the RFID system. In this paper, we propose the Bit Pattern Prediction Algorithm(BPPA) for the efficient identification of the multiple tags. The BPPA is based on the tree algorithm using the time slot and identify the tag quickly and efficiently using accurate bit pattern prediction method. Through mathematical performance analysis, We proved that the BPPA is an O(n) algorithm by analyzing the worst-case time complexity and the BPPA's performance is improved compared to existing algorithms. Through MATLAB simulation experiments, we verified that the BPPA require the average 1.2 times query per one tag identification and the BPPA ensure stable performance regardless of the number of the tags.

In this paper, we presented a cart which can automatically transport loads to the distribution center of the appointed indoor place, based on Raspberry pi 4. It can recognize the obstacles by using the ultrasonic sensors so that it prevents the collision and takes a detour. Further, we entered the direction control code in the RFID. It has installed at important points such as the intersections of the destinations, so that if the RFID reader of the cart senses the RFID, the cart would stop or change the direction. After the transportation, if the load cell(weight sensor) recognizes that the baggage is unloaded, the cart returns to the initial point and would be retrieved. Therefore, we embodied the transportation cart which reduces the use of manpower and solves the problems conveniently across the transportation strategies.

In Q-algorithm of EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 RFID system, the initial value of $Q_{fp}$, which is the slot-count parameter, is not defined in the standard. And the values of weight C, which is the parameter for incrementing or decrementing the slot-count size, are not determined. Therefore, if the number of tags is small and we let the initial $Q_{fp}$ be large, the number of empty slot will be large. On the other hand, if we let the initial $Q_{fp}$ be small in spite of many tags, almost all the slots will be collided. Also, if the reader selects an inappropriate weight, there are a lot of empty or collided slots. As a result, the performance will be declined because the frame size does not converge to the optimal point quickly during the query round. In this paper, we propose a scheme to allocate the optimal initial $Q_{fp}$ through the tag number estimation and select the weight based on the slot-count size of current query round.

In Gen-2 Q-algorithm, the value of initial $Q_{fp}$ and weight C is not defined in the standard. If we let the initial $Q_{fp}$ be large or small, the number of empty slot will be large during the initial query round or almost all the slots will be collided, respectively. Also, if the reader selects an inappropriate weight, there are a lot of empty or collided slots. As a result, it is anticipated that the performance will be declined because the frame size does not converge to the optimal point quickly during the query round. In this paper, we analyze how the performances of Gen-2 Q-algorithm will be affected by the weight and initial slot-count size.

In this paper, we propose an improved anti-collision algorithm. We have designed an anti-collision unit using this algorithm for the 18000-6 Type C Class 1 Generation 2 standard (Gen2). The Gen2 standard uses a Q-algorithm for incremental method on the Dynamic Slot-Aloha algorithm. It has basically enhanced performance over the Slot-Aloha algorithm. Unfortunately, there are several non-clarified parts: initial $Q_{fp}$ value, weighted C, and the ending point of the algorithm. If an incorrect value is selected, it causes degradation in performance. Thus we propose an improved anti-collision algorithm by clearly defining the vague parts of the existing algorithm. Simulation results showed an improved performance of up to 34.8% using an optimized value of C and the initial $Q_{fp}$ value. With the ending condition, performance is 34.7%. The anti-collision unit is designed using the Verilog HDL. The module was synthesized using Synopsys' Design Compiler and the TSMC $0.2{\mu}m$ standard cell library. The synthesized result yielded 3,847 gates, and was guaranteed under the proposed working frequency of 19.2MHz.

In this paper, we propose tree-based hybrid query tree architecture utilizing time slot. 4-Bit Pattern Slot Allocation(4-SL) has a 8-ary tree structure and when tag ID responses according to query of the reader, it applies a digital coding method, the Manchester code, in order to extract the location and the number of collided bits. Also, this algorithm can recognize multiple Tags by single query using 4 fixed time slots. The architecture allows the reader to identify 8 tags at the same time by responding 4 time slots utilizing the first bit($[prefix+1]^{th}$, F ${\in}$ {'0' or '1'}) and bit pattern from second ~ third bits($[prefix+2]^{th}{\sim}[prefix+3]^{th}$, $B_2{\in}$ {"00" or "11"}, $B_1{\in}$ {"01" or "10"}) in tag ID. we analyze worst case of the number of query nodes(prefix) in algorithm to extract delay time for recognizing multiple tags. The identification delay time of the proposed algorithm was based on the number of query-responses and query bits, and was calculated by each algorithm.
