  • RFID(Radio frequency indentification) technology, that the reader detect the tag information attached on the objects without contact, is considered the kernel of realizing tile Ubiquitous Sensor Network. Particularly, because there are lots of tags(which the reader have to detect) in the UHF RFID system(that is applied at the Logistic & Distribution industry). In the UHF RFID system the negative effects, we called the tag-collision, may occur and we should solve these effects. So, in the EPCglobal Gen2 protocol they present the Slotted Random Anti-collision algorithm to prevent the tag-collision effect. In this paper, in order to minimize the tag-collision effect and bring on the system efficiency, we propose the Power Increasing Method that controls the transmission power of the reader depending on the environment and verily the improved performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel structure of a spiral antenna with a CP characteristic for RFID reader in UHF band. Since the proposed antenna can be built by printing on a FR-4 substrate, it is appropriate for low-cost mass-production. The antenna is designed to operate in UHF band of $860{\sim}960$ MHz. The CP bandwidth is Increased enough to cover an overall UHF RFID band by using a spiral structure for the antenna arm. The matching bandwidth is broadened by using a quarter-wave transformer between the fred and the antenna body. The proposed antenna has advantages of its easy gain and pattern control with a small antenna size. The measured antenna performance shows the matching bandwidth of 13%, the CP bandwidth of 23%, and the gain of 6.5 dBi. This verifies that the proposed antenna is appropriate for RFID antennas in UHF band.

  • For tracing tag locations, the trajectories should be modeled and indexed in a radio frequency identification (RFID) system. The trajectory of a tag is represented as a line that connects two spatiotemporal locations captured when the tag enters and leaves the vicinity of a reader. If a tag enters but does not leave a reader, its trajectory is represented only as a point captured at entry. Because the information that a tag stays in a reader is missing from the trajectory represented only as a point, it is impossible to find the tag that remains in a reader. To solve this problem we propose the data model in which trajectories are defined as intervals and new index scheme called the Interval R-tree. We also propose new insert and split algorithms to enable efficient query processing. We evaluate the performance of the proposed index scheme and compare it with the R-tree and the R*-tree. Our experiments show that the new index scheme outperforms the other two in processing queries of tags on various datasets.

  • In the recent years, the companies have manually recorded a production status in a work diary or have mainly used a bar code in order to collect each process's progress status, production performance and quality information in the production and logistics process in real time. But, it requires an additional work because the worker's record must be daily checked or the worker must read it with the bar code scanner. At this time, data's accuracy is decreased owing to the worker's intention or mistake, and it causes the problem of the system's reliability. Accordingly, in order to solve such problem, the companies have introduced RFID which comes into the spotlight in the latest automatic identification field. In order to introduce the RFID technology, the process flow must be analyzed, but the ASME sign used by most manufacturing companies has the difficult problem when the aggregation event occurs. Hence, in this study, the RFID logistic flow analysis Modeling Notation was proposed as the signature which can analyze the manufacturing logistic flow amicably, and the manufacturing logistic flow by industry type was analyzed by using the proposed RFID logistic flow analysis signature. Also, to monitor real-time information through EPCglobal network, EPCISEvent template by industry was proposed, and it was utilized as the benchmarking case of companies for RFID introduction. This study suggested to ensure the decision-making on real-time information through EPCglobal network. This study is intended to suggest the Modeling Notation suitable for RFID characteristics, and the study is intended to establish the business step and to present the vocabulary.

  • Recently RFID system has been adopted in various fields rapidly. However, we should solve the problem of privacy invasion that can be occurred by obtaining information of RFID Tag without any permission for popularization of RFID system. To solve these problems, There is the Ohkubo et al.'s Hash-Chain Scheme which is the safest method. However, this method has a problem that requesting lots of computing process because of creasing numbers of Tag. Therefore We, suggest SP-Division algorithm satisfied with all necessary security of Privacy Protection Scheme and decreased in Tag Identification Time in this paper. And this paper implemented it in time standard finding the first key among the data devided into each nodes. The length of Hash-Chain holds 1000, and the total number of SPs increases 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000. Comparing tag identification time by the total number of SPs and the number of Nodes with single node, extending the number of nodes to 1, 2, 3 and 4, when the number of nodes is 2, 40% of Performance, when the number of nodes is 3, 56%, and when the number of nodes is 4, 71% is improved.

  • This paper analyzes the tag data inconsistency problem caused by incomplete execution of the tag access operation to the RFID tag's memory and proposes a protocol to control consistent tag data accesses with finalizing the incomplete operation. Passive RFID tag cannot guarantee complete execution of the tag access operations because of uncertainty and unexpected disconnection of RF communications. This leads to the tag data inconsistency problem. To handle this, we propose a concurrency control protocol which defines incomplete tag operations as continuous queries and monitors the tags're-observation continuously. The protocol finalizes the incomplete operation when the tag is re-observed while it blocks inconsistent data accesses from other operations. We justify the proposed protocol by analyzing the completeness and consistency. The experiments show that the protocol shows better performance than the traditional lock-based concurrency control protocol.

  • Queries for tracing tag locations are among the most challenging requirements in RFID based applications, including automated manufacturing, inventory tracking and supply chain management. For efficient query processing, a previous study proposed the index scheme for storing tag objects, based on the moving object index, in 3-dimensional domain with the axes being the tag identifier, the reader identifier, and the time. In a different way of a moving object index, the ranges of coordinates for each domain are quite different so that the distribution of query regions is skewed to the reader identifier domain. Previous indexes for tags, however, do not consider the skewed distribution for query regions. This results in producing many overlaps between index nodes and query regions and then causes the problem of traversing many index nodes. To solve this problem, we propose a new disproportional insertion and split policy of the index for RFID tags which is based on the R*-tree. For efficient insertion of tag data, our method derives the weighted margin for each node by using weights of each axis and margin of nodes. Based the weighted margin, we can choose the subtree and the split method in order to insert tag data with the minimum cost. Proposed insertion method also reduces the cost of region query by reducing overlapped area of query region and MBRs. Our experiments show that the index based on the proposed insertion and split method considerably improves the performance of queries than the index based on the previous methods.
