  • Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) is technology that identify products using radio frequency transmission. We read EPC from Tag in RFID environment, but we can see only what the identify objects are and it is too limited to get the additional detailed information by the EPC. Therefore many companies and organizations have studied RFID system in order to effectively use it. But the existing RFID system still has the complication that we should fully understand various knowledges, communicating ways, etc, and the insufficiency to support the application development in order to treat the business event of the related application. In this paper, I propose business event that we can conveniently use in FRID application and shows Business Event Framework. BEF which is able to deliver the business event produced to the application.

  • In logistic environments, a process, in that it manages the flow of materials among partners, involves more than one organization. In this regard, a logistic process, as a combined process consisting of multiple sub processes, needs to be managed with controling interaction among partners. In achieving systematic management of a logistic process, traditional Business Process Management (BPM) cannot be used for the entire flow, since it lacks the ability to manage interactions among partners. Particularly in logistic environments where RFID technologies are used, how to deal with the connection between RFID event and logistic flow has not been properly addressed. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a new method of managing multi-organizational logistic processes based on RFID events. We define inter-workflow pattern, and suggest ECA(Event-Condition-Action) rules for auto triggering of logistic processes. To adjust the rules to RFID events, we invent RFID-based ECA rules using complex event. A prototype system has been developed for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach.

  • With the aim of solving the problems of long processing times, high memory consumption and low event throughput in the current processing approaches in out-of-order RFID event streams, an efficient complex event processing method based on INFA-HTS (Improved Nondeterministic Finite Automaton-Hash Table Structure) is presented in this paper. The contribution of this paper lies in the fact that we use INFA and HTS to successfully realize the detection of complex events for out-of-order RFID event streams. Specifically, in our scheme, to detect the disorder of out-of-order event streams, we expand the traditional NFA model into a new INFA model to capture the related RFID primitive events from the out-of-order event stream. To high-efficiently manage the large intermediate capturing results, we use the HTS to store and process them. As a result, these problems in the existing methods can be effectively solved by our scheme. The simulation results of our experiments show that our proposed method in this paper outperforms some of the current general processing approaches used to process out-of-order RFID event streams.

  • In this paper, we propose a policy-driven RFID data management event definition language, which is possibly applicable as a partial standard for SSI (Software System Infrastructure) Part 4 (Application Interface, 24791-4) defined by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31/WG 4 (RFID for Item Management). The SSI's RFID application interface part is originally defined for providing a unified interface of the RFID middleware functionality―data management, device management, device interface and security functions. However, the current specifications are too circumstantial to be understood by the application developers who used to lack the professional and technological backgrounds of the RFID middleware functionality. As an impeccable solution, we use the concept of event-constraint policy that is not only representing semantic contents of RFID domains but also providing transparencies with higher level abstractions to RFID applications, and that is able to provide a means of specifying event-constraints for filtering a huge number of raw data caught from the associated RF readers. Conclusively, we try to embody the proposed concept by newly defining an XML-based RFID event policy definition language, which is abbreviated to rXPDL. Additionally, we expect that the specification of rXPDL proposed in the paper becomes a technological basis for the domestic as well as the international standards that are able to be extensively applied to RFID and ubiquitous sensor networks.

  • RFID events are large volume of stream data which come out continuously. Many studies have been done to detect a business event in RFID stream. However, the existing methods have many problems which increase unnecessary operations when business events do not satisfy minimum conditions. In this paper, to remove unnecessary operations, we define the minimum condition of business events and propose an efficient method that detects business events only when the minimum condition is satisfied. To check the minimum condition of business events, we register business queries in a query index. We detect business events using the query index and bitmap. It is shown through various experiment that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification)는 라디오 신호에 따라 반응하는 태그(Tag)를 이용하여 해당 사물을 인식하는 기술이다.

  • Massive event stream brings us great challenges in its volume, velocity, variety, value and veracity. Picking up some valuable information from it often faces with long detection time, high memory consumption and low detection efficiency. Aiming to solve the problems above, an efficient complex event detection method based on NFA_HTS (Nondeterministic Finite Automaton_Hash Table Structure) is proposed in this paper. The achievement of this paper lies that we successfully use NFA_HTS to realize the detection of complex event from massive RFID event stream. Specially, in our scheme, after using NFA to capture the related RFID primitive events, we use HTS to store and process the large matched results, as a result, our scheme can effectively solve the problems above existed in current methods by reducing lots of search, storage and computation operations on the basis of taking advantage of the quick classification and storage technologies of hash table structure. The simulation results show that our proposed NFA_HTS scheme in this paper outperforms some general processing methods in reducing detection time, lowering memory consumption and improving event throughput.

  • Nowadays there are many studies and there's huge development about RFID and WSN which have great developmental potential to many kinds of applications. In particular, the healthcare field is expected to could be securing international competitive power in u-Healthcare and combined medical treatment industry and service. More and more real time application apply RFID and WSN technology to identify, data collect and locate objects. Wide deployment of RFID and WSN will generate an unprecedented volume of primitive data in a short time. Duplication and redundancy of primitive data will affect real time performance of application. Thus, emerging applications must filter primitive data and correlate them for complex pattern detection and transform them to events that provide meaningful, actionable information to end application. In this paper, we design a complex event processing system. This system will process RFID and WSN primitive data and event and perform data transformation. Integrate RFID and WSN system had applied each now in medical treatment through this study and efficient data transmission and management forecast that is possible.

  • Advanced wireless network and sensor technologies are capable of collecting information such as temperature, humidity, weight, and location about objects at real time in logistics area. Besides, users want to be notified of contextual information about interest of objects whenever they want it and wherever they want it. To satisfy these requirements, applications should collect and analyze contextual information at real time, and must support a service that can notify it to wanted users. Event-based service is one of the way to satisfy these requirement of users. In this paper, we design an event notification system focused on location- and RFID-based logistics area. To do this, we present XML-based event expression model, ECA-based profile definition model, and an algorithm that has high scalability by distinguishing event filtering in two steps. Based on these designs, our implemented system can apply to not only logistics area but also intelligent traffic control system based on RFID or GPS devices.

  • The current RFID middleware standard is ALE (Application Level Event) of EPCglobal that takes the lead in RFID standardization. ALE suggests the minimal interface and extension points so that it can be operated independently from system infrastructure, and actual implementation is left to vendors. But there is no specific mention with regard to functional extension through extension points, and It is very hard to extend or modify the function on running system. To solve this problem, we suggest AOP (Aspect Oriented Programming)-based ALE middleware framework for developing RFID middleware. In addition, we designed aspect for RFID middleware for implementing and extending functions according to ALE rules and for the convenience of maintenance.
