Implementation of a RF Transceiver for Sensor Nodes (센서노드용 RF송수신기의 구현)

  • USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) is used to provide many services such as bridge monitoring, cultural properties monitoring, river monitoring, protection of an old and feeble person, management and control of a city and circumstance monitoring, etc. A RF transceiver is needed for implementing USN. In this paper the implementation and the design of a RF transceiver for sensor nodes operating in 2.4GHz frequency band are presented. The design procedure of AGC, a receiver and a transmitter is described. And the performance of the implemented RF transceiver is also tested. The test results of receiver sensitivity, receiver dynamic range, frequency stability, phase noise, output power of transmitter, flatness and spectrum mask are presented.

  • 2.45 GHz RF Transceiver composed RF module and Digital module for USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) has been implemented in this paper. The proposed RF system is designed based on IEEE 802.15.4-2006 PHY standard which has a frequency range from $2.4{\sim}2.4835GHz$. In this transmitter chain, the output power is controlled form 0 to 30 dBm. In this receiver chain, less than 20 dB of NF was obtained.

  • In this paper, we studied the charging characteristics of high-capacity supercapacitor with high current for RF wireless charging system for smart phone charging. The dc output of the RF-DC receiver is connected to supercapacitor after which is connected to DC-DC converter for charging a smart phone. This configuration stably supplies voltage and current for charging it. Studies show that the higher charging current use, the rapidly shorter the charging time of supercapacitor is. The currents of 2A, 10A and 27A were used for charging supercapacitors. The charging time was measured for 3000F, 6000F, 12000F supercapacitors which is parallelly connected with 3000F supercapacitors.

  • The KOMAC(KOrea Multi-purpose Accelerator Complex) linac is composed of RFQ(Radio Frequency Quadrupole), CCDTL(Coupled Cavity Drift Tube Linac) and SC(Superconducting)-linac. The required CW output power of RF system is about 25㎿ for 20㎿ proton beam power. Therefore high power RF sources are necessary for cost saving and reliability improvement. The number of klystrons for 0.5 ㎿ at 350MHz and 1 ㎿ at 700MHz are 1 and 31, respectively. In this paper, the design parameters of the klystron system including power supply and energy recovery system are presented.

  • We have developed the radio frequency excited slab waveguide $CO_2$ laser, The dimension of active area is $2{\times}40{\times}400$ mm to get a laser gain. Two pieces of concave mirror are used to make the unstable resonator of negative branch. The radio frequency is 123 MHz and RF input power is from 100 to 900 W. The laser gas is set to a pressure of 10 ∼ 60 torr and the mixing ration is $CO_2$:$N_2$:He=1:1:3. The laser output power of 50.9 W was obtained with laser power to RF power efficiency of 6.5 %.

  • A small millimeter-wave tracking radar power supply must provide stable power with minimal ripple noise and the switching frequency noise of the DC-DC converter must have a real-time self-test capability through on-the-fly monitoring without causing false alarms and ghost In this study, we developed a multi-output switching power supply with output power of more than 80% (@ 100% load) and 10 output power by adopting + 28VDC input for application to small millimeter wave tracking radar, DC-DC converter is applied for large power output and multi-output flyback method is applied for the remaining small power output. The test results show that 85% efficiency efficiency is achieved under 100% load condition.

  • In this paper, describes the design and performance of a 1.5 kW solid-state pulsed power amplifier, operating over 2.7-2.9 GHz at a duty of 10% and with a pulse width of 100 us for radar application. The solid-state pulsed power amplifier configures a series of 8-stage cascaded power amplifier with different RF output power levels. Low loss Wilkinson combiners are used to combine output powers of six 300W high power solid state modules. Tests show peak output power of 1.61 kW, corresponding to PAE of 26.2% over 2.7-2.9 GHz with pulse width of 100 us and a PRF of 1 kHz.

  • In this paper, Passive Telemerty RF Sensor System using Unscented Kalman Filter algorithm(UKF) is proposed. General Passive Telemerty RF Sensor System means that it should be "wireless", "implantable" and "batterless". Conventional Passive Telemerty RF Sensor System adopts Integrated Circuit type, but there are defects like complexity of structure and limit of large power consumption in some cases. In order to overcome these kinds of faults, Passive Telemetry RF Sensor System based on inductive coupling principle is proposed in this paper. Because passive components R, L, C have stray parameters in the range of high frequency such as about 200[KHz] used in this paper, Passive Telemetry RF Sensor System considering stray parameters has to be derived for accurate model identification. Proposed Passive Telemetry RF Sensor System is simple because it consists of R, L and C and measures the change of environment like pressure and humidity in the type of capacitive value. This system adopted UKF algorithm for estimation of this capacitive parameter included in nonlinear system like Passive Telemetry RF Sensor System. For the purpose of obtaining learning data pairs for UKF Algorithm, Phase Difference Detector and Amplitude Detector are proposed respectively which make it possible to get amplitude and phase between input and output voltage. Finally, it is verified that capacitive parameter of proposed Passive Telemetry RF Sensor System using UKF algorithm can be estimated in noisy environment efficiently.

  • This paper has been studied a rower amplifier for IMT-2000 handset. Circuit design is performed and optimized by using HP ADS RF software. Designed amplifier consist of 2 stage, has 25㏈ gain, over 27㏈m output power and about 40% power efficiency. Power amplifier operation frequency range is 1955${\pm}$70MHz. Mask layout of the designed Amplifier consisting of 4 mask. The measured results of these values are satisfying the specification of IMT-2000 handset.

  • In this paper, a high power amplifier using RF power solid-state semiconductor is implemented to overcome a problem of plasma generator which has the low efficiency, short life span, the difficult maintenance and the high-operation cost. This power amplifier consists of a radial combiner of low-loss and high power operation and the sixteen 300 W power amplifiers to obtain 3 kW output power for high power operation implemented in semiconductors at industrial scientific medical (ISM) band of 2.45 GHz. In addition, this amplifier overcomes the problem of heat generation due to high power by applying a water-cooled structure to the individual amplifiers. This power amplifier, which is made up of a small system, achieves 50% efficiency at the desired output.
