랜덤 수 생성 회로를 이용한 EMI Noise 저감 회로 (The EMI Noise Reduction Circuit with Random Number Generator)

  • 본 논문에서는 랜덤 수 생성 회로를 통해 Relaxation Oscillator의 주파수를 불규칙하게 변환하여 EMI Noise를 최소화하는 방법을 제시한다. 또한, DC-DC Converter에 이 기법이 적용되었을 때의 효과와 이 결과가 RF Receiver system에 미치는 효과를 Noise 측면에서 연구하였다. 제안하는 Relaxation Oscillator 출력 중심주파수는 7.9 MHz이고, 온도보상기법을 적용하여 온도변화에 따라 주파수가 보상되도록 설계하였다. 이 칩은 $0.18{\mu}m$ 공정으로 설계하였고, 칩의 면적은 $220{\mu}m{\times}280{\mu}m$이다. 전류 소모는 공급전압인 1.8 V에서 $500{\mu}A$이다.

  • This paper analyzed the phase noise characteristics of frequency-shifting module by figuring out the relationship between the phase noise components of 1st and 2nd local oscillator composing the frequency-shifting module and those of RF output signals shifted in frequency. Also, frequency-shifting module with the improvement of the phase noise performance was designed and implemented by means that the phase noise components of 1st local oscillator were cancelled in the output signal. Output signal has been affected by only phase noise of 2nd local oscillator, which had excellent phase noise performance than that of the 1st local oscillator.

  • 본 논문에서는 IMT-2000 통신방식 중 cdma-2000 방식의 시스템을 이용하여 이동통신 단말기 RF System에 미치는 위상 잡음의 영향성을 분석하였다. cdma-2000의 표준안인 TIA/EIA에서 권고한 IS-98-C 를 기초로 하여 위상 잡음 특성의 요구 조건을 유도하였다. 현재 상용화 된 부품을 이용하여 RF 시스템을 설계하여 위상 잡음 특성을 분석하였고 시스템에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 oscillator의 위상 잡음의 양을 변화시켜 시스템에 미치는 영향을 Constellation Diagram과 Eye Diagram으로 제시 하였다.

960 MHz대역 다층구조 VCO 설계 (Design of Multi-layer VCO for 960 MHz Band)

  • In this paper, we present the simulation results of multi-layer VCO(voltage controlled oscillator), which is composed of resonator, oscillator, and buffer circuit, using EM simulator and nonlinear RF circuit simulator. EM simulator is used for obtaining the EM(Electromagnetic) characteristics of conductor pattern as well as designing the multi-layer VCO. Obtained EM characteristics were used as real components in nonlinear RF circuit simulation. Finally the overall VCO was simulated by the nonlinear RF circuit simulator. The material for the circuit pattern was Ag and the dielectric was Dupont 951AT, which will be applied for LTCC process. The structure of multi-layer VCO is constructed with 4 conducting layer. Simulated results showed that the output level was about 4.5 [dBm], the phase noise was -104 [dBc/Hz] at 30 [kHz] offset frequency, the harmonics -8 dBc, and the control voltage sensitivity of 30 [MHz/V] with a DC current consumption of 9.5 [mA]. The size of VCO is $6{\times}9{\times}2 mm$(0.11 [cc]).

24 GHz 공진기 안정화 Gunn 발진기 개발 (Development of a Cavity Stabilized Gunn Oscillator at 24 GHz)

  • 본 논문에서는 WR-42 직각도파관을 이용하여 안정적인 출력을 제공하는 구조를 HFSS 시뮬레이션을 통해 설계하여 24 GHz에서 동작하는 공진기 안정화 Gunn 발진기를 개발하였다. 제작된 Gunn 발진기는 아이리스와 캡구조로 공진기 안정화를 이루기 위한 최적의 구조를 구현하였으며 4.5 V 전압의 1.2 A의 전류를 인가했을 때 24.0675 GHz에서 최고출력 +21.27 dBm을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • This paper presents a novel defected ground structure (DGS) and its application to a microwave oscillator. The presented oscillator is designed so as to use the suggested defected ground structure as a feedback loop inducing a negative resistance as well as a frequency-selective circuit. Applying the feedback loop between the drain and the gate of a FET device produces precise phase conversion in the feedback loop. The equivalent circuit parameters of the DGS are extracted by using a three-dimensional EM calculations and simple circuit analysis method. The implemented 1.07 GHz oscillator exhibits 0 dBm output power with over 15% dc-to-RF power efficiency and -106 dBc/Hz phase noise at 100 kHz offset from carrier.

분리된 링형 DGS 공진기의 등가 파라미터 모델링 (Equivalent Parameter Modeling of Open Ring type DGS Resonator)

  • 본 논문에서는 발진기의 위상잡음을 개선하고 MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit)에 적용 가능하도록 설계된 분리된 링형 DGS(Defected Ground Structure)공진기를 제안한다. 이것은 평면형 공진기로서 소형화 설계가 용이하고 상대적으로 높은 Q 값을 갖는다. 공진기를 이용하여 초고주파 발진기를 설계할 때 공진기의 등가 파라미터를 모델링하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 발진기의 설계에 필요한 공진기의 등가회로 파라미터를 공진기의 측정된 특성 값으로부터 수식적으로 계산하는 방법을 나타내었다. 방법을 검증하기 위해 공진주파수가 5.8 GHz인 링형 DGS 공진기를 제작하여 특성을 측정하고 등가 파라미터를 계산하였고, 이 결과를 ADS 도구를 이용하여 시뮬레이션한 결과와 비교하여 일치함을 보였다.

Development of a Real-Time Soil Moisture Meter using Oscillation Frequency Shift Method

  • The objective of this study was to develop a real-time soil moisture meter using RF impedance. The impedance suchas capacitance and resistance (or conductance) was analyzed using parallel cylinder type capacitance probe(C-probe) and Q-meter (HP4342). The capacitance and conductance of soil increased as volumetric water content increased. The 5 MHz of modified Colpitts type crystal oscillator was designed to detect the capacitance change of the C-probe with moist soil. A third order polynomial regression model was proposed to describe the relationship between RF impedance and volumetric water content. The prototype real time moisture meter consisted of the C-probe, sample container, oscillator, frequency counter and related signal processing units. The calibration equation for measurement of volumetric moisture content of soil was developed and validated. The correlation coefficient and root mean square error between measured volumetric water content by oven method and predicted values by prototype moisture meter for unknown soil samples were 0.984 and 0.032$cm^3$$cm\^3$, respectively.
