In this paper, we propose 1×2 array antenna with dual linear polarization characteristics for mmWave band operation. The proposed antenna is designed two microstirp feeding structure and FR-4 substrate, which is thickness 0.4 mm, and the dielectric constant is 4.3. The size of 1×2 array antenna is 2.33 mm×2.33 mm, and total size of array antenna is 13.0 mm×6.90 mm. From the fabrication and measurement results, bandwidths of 1.13 GHz (28.52~29.65 GHz) for port 1 and 1.08 GHz (28.45~29.53 GHz) for port 2 were obtained based on the impedance bandwidth. Cross polarization ratios are obtained from 7.68 dBi to 16.90 dBi in case of vertical polarization, and from 7.46 dBi to 15.97 dBi in case of horizontal polarization for input port 1, respectively. Also, cross polarization ratios are obtained from 8.59 dBi to 13.72 dBi in case of vertical polarization and from 9.03 dB to 14.0 dB in case of horizontal polarization for input port 2, respectively.

In this paper, we have developed a frequency mixer which can be used as a microwave phase conjugator in the retrodirective array antenna. The retrodirective array, which can reflect the incident wave retrodirertively back to the source direction without any priori information, requires phase conjugators to achieve the phase change of 180 degrees for the incoming signal. frequency mixers can efficiently serve as phase conjugators. The circuit topology is of the 2-port structure to avoid the complexity of LO and Rf signal combination and matching circuits, using a pseudomorphic HEU device. The operating frequencies are 4.0 CHz, 2.01 CHz, and 1.99 CHz for LO, RF, and If signals, respectively. Conversion loss is measured to be -ldB and 1-dB compression point -l5 dBm at the LO power of -10 dBm.

Small size and light weight is very important for components used in radar mounted platform such as airborne radar. Recently, the active phased array radar is developed as an array of antennas for thousands of transmit/receive modules to be used as a multi-function radar that can detect and track targets. In this case, the size and weight of the transmit/receive modules are critical factor for developing the radar. In this paper, we developed a compact transmit/receive module using the 10W RF MEMS switch domestically localizing and reduced the circuit area to about 86.5% compared to using a circulator. The developed module satisfies not only electrical requirements but also MIL-STD's environmental specifications. So it can be used in a military device. It can be used at adaptive tunable receivers, reconfigurable smart active antennas and wide band beam electrical steering antennas.

Through the automatic sensing of the environment, USN technology can give the best services. In this work, we have developed an active RFID system and examined its performance. By implementing it into water quality sensors, we constructed a system that can detect diverse indoor/outdoor environment and provide information about the pollution level obtained from the temperature and PH sensors. Our RF system had an internal Print-on-PCB antenna for the miniaturization of the tag. We used a RF transceiver CC2510 chipset of TI company to realize the active RFID function. By using RSSI constants obtained, we performed the evaluation of real time location accuracy with a software written in Labview. Among 10 arbitrary locations, we obtained average measurement errors of 1.69 m in x axis and 1.66 m in y axis. This technology can be applied to logistics, environmental monitoring, prevention of missing children and various applications.

This paper presents the development of the fast Direction Finder using direct conversion method, which can intercept for short pulse signal of less' than 1 msec. in RF Down Converter, and CVDF(Correlative Vector Direction Finding) algorithm, which estimates DoA (Direction of Arrival). The configuration and characteristics of direction finder using 5-channel equi-spaced circular array antenna are presented and the direct conversion techniques for removing tuning time using I/Q demodulator are described. The CRLB of our model is derived, the principles of 2 kind of CVDF algorithm are explained and their characteristics are compared with CRLB w.r.t the number of samples and spacing ratio. The RF Down Converter prototype using direct conversion method is manufactured, the 2 kind of CVDF algorithm are applied and their performance are analyzed. Finally it is confirmed the LSE based CVDF algorithm is better than correlation-coefficient based except for ambiguity protection capabilities.

The wide and growing use of cellular phones has raised the question about the possible health risks associated with radio-frequency electromagnetic fields. It would be helpful for phone users to blow the exposure levels during cellular phone use. But it is very difficult to recognize the amount of exposure, because measuring accurate level of RF is a difficult matter. In this study, we developed a model to estimate the exposure level and the individual risk of exposure by utilizing the available informations that we can get. We used such parameters as usage time a day, total using period, distance between cellular phone and head, slope of cellular phone, hands-free usage, antenna pulled out or not SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) of cellular phone, and flip or folder type. We proposed a model presenting individual risk of RF exposure from level 0 to 10 by using a neural network.

This paper designed the antenna for collecting and servicing the traffic information that apply to freeway Traffic Management System, as using DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication). Active DSRC is the technology that is using 5.8GHz Radio Frequency to a mean Sequency and there are a lot of the case occurring a physical electric wave shadowing because of the traveling straight of a electric wave. In such inferior communication environment, it constructed the stabilized communication link that can do collecting and servicing the correct traffic information and designed the beam pattern considering the establishment position of the antenna that can apply to various road environments and a communication area. By considering the communication link environment, this paper designed and manufacture the mean frequency of 5.8GHz, the input loss of -17dB in 75MHz bandwidth, the Axial ratio of 1.5:1, and $2{\times}4$ array microstrip antenna which beam pattern have the characteristic of $55^{\circ}$ horizontal half power beam width and $26^{\circ}$elevation half power beam width and the minimum establishment height of the antenna was designed as 14m for avoiding electric wave shadowing on a physical condition between vehicles

In this paper, we proposed a triple band printed monopole antenna with a bent branch strips for WiFi / 5G. An antenna structure in which bent strips for generating multiple resonance are attached in the form of branches was newly proposed based on a typical monopole strip vertically erected as a triple band antenna structure. The proposed antenna is designed on a FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3, thickness of 1.6 mm, and size of 28×40 mm2. The measured impedance bandwidth is 430 MHz (2.22~2.65 GHz) in the 2.4 GHz WLAN, 450 MHz (3.38~3.83 GHz) in the 3.5 GHz and 2390 MHz (4.95~7.34 GHz), In particular, it has been observed that antenna has a stable omnidirectional radiation patterns as well as gain of 1.537 dBi, 1.878 dBi and 2.337 dBi in the entire frequency band of interest.

In this paper, we have developed a retrodirective active array operating in the 2 GHz LS band. The retrodirective array has the property of re-directing any electromagnetic wave back to the incoming direction without any priory informations. The system is consisted of frequency mixers and antenna array. The mixer is acting as a phase conjugator. In this research, 2-port gate mixers using pHEMT and 1${\times}$4 monopole array have been used. The retrodirective array developed in this research can be applied in the base station facilities for the wireless mobile communications and RFID transponders.
In this paper, the UHF PD(Partial Discharge) sensors for $SF_6$ insulated MV $SF_6$ switchgear have been proposed and related investigations have been performed in order to detect the PD which were produced inside the MV $SF_6$ switchgear. Firstly, the internal type UHF PD sensor based on spiral antenna theory has been developed. This type sensor is highly sensitive and has lowly effect on by on-site noise. Secondly, the external type UHF PD sensor was developed based on log periodic antenna concept. This type sensor is removable and detectable for operating switchgear. These sensors were designed and simulated using RF simulation tool. In order to verify the sensitivity of these sensors, we performed the on-site test using the mock-up switchgears including the artificial defects which were the protrusion on high voltage conductor, free moving metal particle and surface defect on insulator. These mock-up switchgear were installed on the test distribution line.
