A Study on a SPDT Switch with High Isolation Using Radial Resonators (방사형 공진기를 이용한 고격리도 SPDT 스위치 연구)

  • This papart proposes single pole double throw (SPDT) switch with six-stage radial stub resonators in the 3.6~4.0 GHz band. The switch was simulated using ADS (Advanced Design Software), a design tool for the wireless communication circuits, and evaluated on a pcb substrate. The measurement results of the radial SPDT switch showed an average 90 dB isolation, and 1.5 dB insertion loss. This isolation characteristic was 20 dB superior to higher than those laboratory or commercial products reported thus far. The proposed SPDT switch is applicable to multi-band RF front-end systems, such as WiMAX, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, and HyperLAN.

Development of a Wideband Power Sensor for the Measurement of Wireless Power (무선 주파수 전력 측정을 위한 광대역 전력 센서 개발)

  • This paper describes the development of a power sensor for wireless signal over the ultra wideband range of 300~3800MHz with the detecting range of 150mW~150W. The proposed power sensor fundamentally has the function of not only detecting wireless power, but recognizing frequency and measuring VSWR. The development of the power sensor is completed through the design of dual directional coupler, design of power detector block which produces DC data using the corresponding RF input power level, and establishment of collecting the exact calibration data. The dual directional coupler has the operating frequency of 300~3800MHz with the 0.085dB of insertion loss, and directivity of 30dB at least at 3800MHz. The developed power sensor has the capability of power sensing with less than 0.25dB of resolution as well as measuring VSWR of 1.17~1.96 under the practical operating situation of very high power up to 150W at 300~3800MHz.

Design of a Retrodirective Active Array Antenna for the LS Band (LS 밴드용 역지향성 능동배열 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we have developed a retrodirective active array operating in the 2 GHz LS band. The retrodirective array has the property of redirecting any electromagnetic wave back to the incoming direction without any priory informations. The system is integrated with phase conjugators and antenna array. Microwave phase conjugators can be implemented by microwave mixers. In this research, 2-port gate mixers using pHEMT and $1{\times}4$ monopole array have been used to achieve the retrodirectivity. The measured results have been compared with the theoretical prediction, and it has been shown that there exists a reasonable agreement between them. The monopole array can be used easily in many areas for simplicity and cost-effective property, and the retrodirective array developed in this research can be applied directly in the base station facilities for the wireless mobile communications. indoor wireless LAN and RFID transponders.

  • In this paper, the resistive mixer for 5.86Hz wireless LAN, main part receiving system, was designed and implemented. The noise characteristics and the linearity in the base band was superior. For the use of local oscillator of mixer, dielectric resonator of stable output and temperature characteristics was designed. For the electrical tuning by the capacitance variation of varactor diode, the microstrip line and magnetic coupling characteristics of the dielectric resonance was used. It was obtained that gain of the proposed resistive mixer containing the RF cable loss, is -13.8dB, the conversion loss of frequency converter is -12 dB, and the output power of local oscillator is 1.67 dBm.

Power Allocation and Splitting Algorithm for SWIPT in Energy Harvesting Networks with Channel Estimation Error (채널 추정 오차가 존재하는 에너지 하베스팅 네트워크에서 SWIPT를 위한 파워 할당 및 분할 알고리즘)

  • In the next generation wireless communication systems, an energy harvesting from radio frequency signals is considered as a method to solve the lack of power supply problem for sensors. In this paper, we try to propose an efficient algorithm for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer in energy harvesting networks with channel estimation error. At first, we find an optimal channel training interval using one-dimensional exhaustive search, and estimate a channel using MMSE channel estimator. Based on the estimated channel, we propose a power allocation and splitting algorithm for maximizing the data rate while guaranteeing the minimum required harvested energy constraint, The simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm has an insignificant performance degradation less than 10%, compared with the optimal scheme which assumes a perfect channel estimation, but it can improve the data rate by more than 20%, compared to the conventional scheme.

  • Feedback burden of a full-digital energy beamforming, which is known as the optimal precoding scheme for radio frequency (RF) energy transfer, is huge because it uses a vector quantization for a channel feedback. To reduce the feedback burden, we consider a beam steering based wireless energy transfer, which uses a scalar quantization. Researches related to the beam steering based wireless energy transfer have been studied in special channel model with an assumption of full channel state information at the transmitter. In this paper, we analyze the beam steering scheme compared with the full-digital energy beamforming for practical channel models with channel estimation errors. According to characteristics of the millimeter wave channel, the number of antennas of the base station and the user, the distance between them, and channel estimation errors, we simulate the performance of the beam steering scheme and analyze reasons why.

  • In this paper, NTSC TV Transmitter Modulo will be designed and produced which make possible playing the motion picture not only on TV but also on portable TV. NTSC TV Transmitter Module modulates signals that received Video and Audio signals from a mobile on NTSC TV CH4 mechanism. so it has an advantage of convenience that watching the motion picture of mobile on TV without any other cable through transmitting signals by wireless. But it has some demerits of long size antenna and noise sensitiveness. In the future, if some problems like a size of antenna distortion of signal and noise can be solved through continuous researching about Radio Frequency part, it is possible to play mobile motion pictures on the more media like a camcorder, DVD player and so on.

CMOS Rectifier for Wireless Power Transmission Using Multiplier Configuration (Multiplier 설정을 통한 무선 전력 전송 용 CMOS 정류 회로)

  • We present a rectifier for wireless power transmission using multiplier configuration in layout for MOSFETs which works at 13.56 MHz, designed to fit in CMOS process where conventionally used diodes are replaced with the cross-coupled MOSFETs. Full bridge rectifier structure without comparators is employed to reduce current consumption and to be working up to higher frequency. Multiplier configuration designed in layout reduces time delay originated from parasitic series resistance and shunt capacitance at each finger due to long connecting layout, leading to fast transition from on-state to off-state cross-coupled circuit structure and vice versa. The power conversion efficiency is significantly increased due to this fast transition time. The rectifier is fabricated in $0.11{\mu}m$ CMOS process, RF to DC power conversion efficiency is measured as 86.4% at the peak, and this good efficiency is maintained up to 600 MHz, which is, to our best knowledge, the highest frequency based on cross-coupled configuration.

Power Allocation and Splitting Algorithm with Low-complexity for SWIPT in Energy Harvesting Networks (에너지 하베스팅 네트워크에서 SWIPT를 위한 저복잡도를 갖는 파워 할당 및 분할 알고리즘)

  • Recently, energy harvesting, in which energy is collected from RF signals, has been regarded as a promising technology to improve the lifetime of sensors by alleviating the lack of power supply problem. In this paper, we try to propose an efficient algorithm for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer. At first, we find the lower bound of water-level using the probability density function of channel, and derive the solution of power allocation in energy harvesting networks. In addition, we derive an efficient power splitting method for satisfying the minimum required harvested energy constraint. The simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme improves the average data rate while guaranteeing the minimum required harvested energy constraint, compared with the conventional scheme. In addition, the proposed algorithm can reduce the computational complexity remarkably with insignificant performance degradation less than 10%, compared to the optimal solution.

  • Bluetooth 4.0 is a technology suitable for the Internet of things that is used for communication between various devices. This technology is suitable for developing a service by combining with automobiles. In this study, a security authentication system was designed by linking Bluetooth 4.0 technology and a vehicle system as an implementation example of an object internet service. A procedure was designed for security authentication and an authentication method is proposed using a data server. When the security authentication function is provided, various additional services can be developed using the information collection function of the risk notification and user action history. In addition, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology, which is a wireless communication technology that enables low-power communication and low-power communication in the process of the standardization and development of Bluetooth technology and technology, improves the battery life through the use of RFID or NFC This study expanded the range possible. The security service can be extended by expanding the scope of authentication by the contactless type. Using the proposed system, a customized service can be provided while overcoming the problems of an existing radio frequency (RF)-based system, portability, and battery usage problem.
